@FlyOnTheWall89 yes I did have some bleeding after my HSG. Have you been given antibiotics? Don’t take them on an empty stomach 🙄. My husband has the same cysts. He had them when we conceived our second too so I wouldn’t worry about that xx

FlyOnTheWall89 · 22/04/2022 15:21

@Hoping43 ye I have had my 21 day bloods before and whilst I struggle to get a really strong OPK, when I used the CB smiley face ones, I always did get a static face. I also get all the EWCM and then a regular discharge pattern post ovulation. It does vary days tho, but not by much.

Ye my OH had an US. He has a lump in both tubes that carry the sperm. Apparently very common. The person doing the US said it wouldn't affect fertility but the actual consultant follow up is in a few weeks. Annoyingly the hospital didn't call him to speak about his last SA test so he still hasn't got to ask all the questions he has about that. 🤞🏻 we get some more answers soon.

HSG Monday and I rang today and because it's done in radiology, the guy said it's unlikely I'll be able to have a AFC at the same time annoyingly. Need to go and buy some pads for post HSG apparently. X

Hoping43 · 22/04/2022 14:34

@NatW2021 no I don’t track it. I can’t be bothered 🙄. Is that really bad?! I’m always up in the night with my boys and I’ve read you have to have consistent sleep etc x

NatW2021 · 22/04/2022 13:23

Thanks everyone - hopefully the process will be quicker than i anticipate, i suppose if i expect to wait and it happens quicker ill be pleasantly surprised. I had my thyroid bloods done this morning hopefully ill get them back this afternoon, it needs to below 2, it was 3.3 6 weeks ago and my medication was upped so fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞

Its also ovulation day today/tomorrow. - obviously depressing when AF arrives but i find the period after AF and before ovulation a bliss, i dont think about things half as much then as soon as the TWW starts its all i think about! I have my holiday in 3 weeks so least i have something to look forward too.

@Carla2601 - ah yes that would be lovely wouldnt it. Are you feeling any better?

@Hoping43 - good plan, do you check bbt this a good way of confirming ovulation

Hoping43 · 22/04/2022 11:50

@FlyOnTheWall89 yes…. I think I do but I’m not 100% sure. Some months I have more symptoms than others. I’ve always seen positive OPKs when I’ve done them but it varies anywhere between day 16-21. How about you? Did you say your OH has appointments today? X

FlyOnTheWall89 · 22/04/2022 10:22

Such a similar time line to me @Hoping43 ! Do you think you are ovulating? X

Hoping43 · 22/04/2022 09:11

@Carla2601 what a lovely idea.

@NatW2021 i went to GP in sept, had bloods in Nov (covid blood bottle shortage), initial tests at fertility clinic in January (ultrasound, testing for STIs, AMH, rubella etc) then had our consultant appt end of March. HSG early April and that’s it now for another 6 months. I have just convinced my GP to do a day 21 test as never had that done so we will see the outcome of that x

Carla2601 · 22/04/2022 07:54

@BritInNZ that’s a great idea! Let us know what they’re like (nice….but not as nice as us obvs is my prediction haha). I’ve often thought when we’re through all this and we’ve all got masses of children we should do a meet up, you know like those podcast live things 😂

LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 21:06

@BritInNZ right i seeee! So they need to monitor you for that reason also, to make sure you’re not going to have multiples. I’d deffo take 241 aswel haha.
ahhh the group sounds nice, you’ll have to let us know how it goes! X

BritInNZ · 21/04/2022 21:01

Oh also! I found a local infertility support group that meets once a month that I'm going to go to. I love talking to you girls but would like to chat to people in real life who get it too. Can't make this month as I'm away for a gynaecology appointment but will go next month!

BritInNZ · 21/04/2022 20:59

@LucyAnne34 at this moment in time I will take a 241 deal so i don't have to go through this again 😂 but yes they only want me to release one or two eggs, if it's 3 or more no sex allowed as the risk is too high.

OP posts:
LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 20:50

@BritInNZ ahhh ok! That makes sense. I just thought you had the medication, I didn’t realise you had to be monitored and doses changed etc! My consultant did mention possibly trying clomafine/clomid whatever it’s called haha if my next bloods show I’m not ovulating. If not then maybe that will be the option in 6 months if I’m not pregnant. He said he didn’t want to put me on it straight away without trying for a bit longer as it can cause multiple pregnancies. I was like, oh well! 😂 x

BritInNZ · 21/04/2022 20:06

@LucyAnne34 I was just offered it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm not sure if they're as willing to do that in the UK as it's not recommended in the NICE guidelines for people with unexplained infertility. It says here on my FS website they use it for people who don't ovulate and people with a short period of unexplained infertility (think this is under two years): www.fertilityassociates.co.nz/treatment-options/ovulation-induction-oi/

It only costs more on the cycles you're monitored - hopefully that's just one and they get the dosage right first time. Even then, it's only about £300, so a cheaper last resort before IVF 😊 then will just be cost of medication which it says is about £10-£30 for the rest of the months.

@lemons44 yay well done! 💪

@LucyAnne34 ikr - can it chill already!

Good news - I have ribs again 😂😂

LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 13:07

@Carla2601 hope you’re alright and hope you can go home soon! That little bean of yours is a tinker already 😉🥰

LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 13:05

@BritInNZ can I ask how you got to cycle monitoring? My consultant hasn’t mentioned it so I just wonder whether it would benefit me or not…x

lemons44 · 21/04/2022 12:58

Sorry you are still feel pretty rubbish @Carla2601 hopefully you can go home soon and have your own bed to nap in.

Thanks @LucyAnne34 x

LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 12:50

@lemons44 hahaha love the friends quote 😂 glad it’s all done :) x

lemons44 · 21/04/2022 12:40

My scan, blood test and DH's SA all done!!!! I feel so much better for having done something and then I treated myself to some fancy pjs afterwards.

There was so many couples in the clinic waiting room, all I could think of was this quote from Chandler in Friends:

9 months+ trying to conceive, still losing hope, still trying
Carla2601 · 21/04/2022 12:29

@FlyOnTheWall89 @LucyAnne34 yep I didn’t get any repeated bloods or anything the only rule was something like the HIV etc. had to be done within three months of your treatment starting, so when they send you for those it should be quick (that might vary but that was it in my trust)

FlyOnTheWall89 · 21/04/2022 11:13

@NatW2021 so my understanding is that once you've ticked the boxes needed, you'll be referred to a fertility clinic. If they find something off, they'll try to fix it or they'll refer you for IVF or depending on age and results, they'll tell you to try for longer. We were referred and then on my initial consultation, once he heard the SA results, he said let's apply for your funding and get you a HSG and get a SA repeat booked in. None of the bloods needed repeating. My OH hasn't been seen and hasn't had any bloods taken. I was referred Jan, got a app through a cancellation v quickly and then it's all been quick once I was in the system. X

NatW2021 · 21/04/2022 10:34

Thanks everyone - i had my bloods done late December/DH has had SA in February. It says my appointment is with a nurse and ill have a 3D Scan. Do you think ill need bloods doing again?

Just trying to envisage the process, in my head i am thinking they will want me to do repeat bloods again and wait for an appointment with a consultant? I want the Hycosy doing via NHS but not sure how long it will take for me to get to that stage.

Thanks for tips regarding EWCM i have tried EPO (didnt make a difference) and also NAC can help apparently - been on that and again no change 🤷‍♀️ DH hates the conceive plus (ii remember someone saying on here the DH said it was like having sex with a paddling pool it made me laugh) 😂

LucyAnne34 · 21/04/2022 10:28

@BritInNZ ah I’m glad the nutritionist was honest and not money making haha. Good to know.
@NatW2021 i get varying amounts of EWCM, sometimes it’s noticeable and sometimes not.
i went NHS route - I got fertility bloods done by GP in April 2021 and then had to push for fertility clinic referral in September (my bloods were out and they kept saying not to worry so I got them done again privately and they were still out and I was told by their gynaecologist to ask my GP for referral). I was referred in September 2021 and had my first appointment over the phone in January 2022. Had HSG procedure the week after and then a 4 month wait until my follow up last week. X

Carla2601 · 21/04/2022 09:40

@NatW2021 for some reason it cut the end off my message - was just saying that’s only my experience so it might be different and others might have other bits to share

@lemons44 haha they somehow do it but i agree awks!!!

im feeling pretty lousy, they just came to see me to offer an X-ray but I don’t really want that because it’s a tiny risk but I don’t really want to take it so I’ve said no. Hoping I can go home to just have a proper sleep really I’ve had a load of iv drugs all night and beyond that I’m not sure what they can do - it’s more of a waiting game

Carla2601 · 21/04/2022 09:26

@NatW2021 i never get any CM of any description. Evening primrose oil daily from cd1 to ovulation worked for me but if not what’s that special lube called? We got obsessed with it on here for a while haha. Pre seed? @BritInNZ will remember if not. I’ve got gallons of it at home as obvs it couldn’t help us!

So nhs for me was actually quite quick (till they lost my results). Was something like:

  • call with the consultant
  • order blood tests (got a form in the post)
  • get bloods done (it’s HIV, Hep etc)
  • go through a form on the ohone
then once they get your bloods they can apply for your funding which where I am (South London) only actually takes a couple of weeks. Once you have funding approved you choose a clinic and that’s where a bit of a wait comes in
