Just a quick post for a rant/chat really... me and my partner have been trying for nearly 18 months now with absolutely no hint of a bfp. Have started investigations with our GP, I've had my day 3 and day 21 blood tests all looked normal. Currently waiting for the results from parents sa within the next week or so.

It's on my mind every single day, I want nothing more than to have a baby. Some days I'm more positive about it than others but it's always on the back of my mind. I've got no support as I haven't told anybody around us that we're ttc, let alone have been trying for 18 months.

Is anybody else in the same boat?! Has anyone got any positive stories for conceiving after this time?

Just want a chat really, anybody is welcome x

Fingers crossed for you!! Yeah everything seems to be taking longer now which is expected but my gp is absolutely shocking at the best of times. I had to call and chase my blood test results for them to say "yeah all looks fine"... hopefully yours isn't as bad. Let me know how you get on!!

@yorkshireteaspoonie

I'm now pregnant after 40 odd cycles, three miscarriages and a round of IVF. It can happen.

On egg collection day I got only three eggs while everyone around me had at least ten. I was so disheartened, Of the three only one made it to embryo and now he's my little miracle at 28 weeks pregnant.

Id focus on vitamin D in terms of prenatal vitamins, it was the only thing the clinic ever focused on getting enough off (folic acid is a given) I did everything from only drinking warm filtered water, no plastic bpa chemicals, acupuncture etc.. it made no difference but I think at the time it makes you feel like you do have some kind of control in a situation where you feel helpless and held to ransom by your body. I think steroids and progesterone were the magic combination for me.

I'd say push push push and don't wait around for useless GP's. If you don't self advocate for yourself in this situation nobody else will! Good luck x

Wow congratulations!!! Its so nice to hear of some stories with a good ending!

Thank you, I really needed to hear that! I honestly don't feel like GP's are in a rush to help anybody anymore. I can't speak for all of them of course but mine are shocking!! I wish I could go private but definitely can't at the moment until we save a little more.

I have to wait until 14th Feb regarding my referral and chase if I've not heard anything after that. Waiting for partners sa results and then go from there, fingers crossed we don't need any help and it happens naturally in the meantime x

@Meltedwellie

A friend of mine had problems ttc. Thyroid levels were ok according to nhs and not at a level where they would prescribe. She went private about her thyroid and they said she did need some medication. She's now got two kids so worth looking into that x
Thank you for this! I always have my history with my thyroid in the back of my mind but with it being checked twice within a year I assumed it would be fine. Definitely worth looking into though, thank you!!

Has anyone got any positive stories for conceiving after this time?

Way worse timewise. I had 7 years of different fertility treatments before I had my daughter. BUT I do have her now, and it was soooo worth the wait.

So don't give up until you're either done with the idea or have no options left.

Thank you so much for your reply, I'm sorry to hear it took you so long but glad you've got your daughter!

I've definitely not given up hope, some days are better than others though x

@GingerFox2021

Hello Ladies. We are TTC number 2, but I’m afraid that without Opks I feel even more stressed than with. So, will keep using them. I heard so many stories when women relax/forget and this happens. I think stress has a huge impact To our bodies and a constant thinking about TTC and worrying makes a body more intense and blocks functioning properly. I’ve just started Reflexology as I really need to calm down.
Welcome!! I'm exactly the same, I feel more stressed not knowing when ovulation is coming etc rather than when I use opks and know I have at least given myself the best chance. However, I do also need to find a way to relax in general. You'll have to let us know how the reflexology goes, i was honestly thinking about yoga but not sure what there is around me!

It took us two years to conceive, I had all the blood tests and had my fertility appointment booked and then the week before found out I was pregnant. At my postnatal appointment the gp asked if I'd ever got my results and I said no as we didn't need the appointment - turns out I have poly cystic ovarian disease.

I took an increased dose of folic acid and an aspirin a day (there is some research worth reading in to struggling to conceive and taking aspirin that's worth a read, you can find it via Google).

I know that's not the case for everyone but it always gave me hope to hear a positive story.

sadnessoverwhelming · 23/01/2022 22:31

@SunshineS1 if it's of any consolation to you were ttc dc2. We have one dc who took 2 years and 7 months to conceive. Totally naturally with no intervention, no opk's nothing. I hope you get as lucky.

sadnessoverwhelming · 23/01/2022 22:28

@SunshineS1 I did the very same. It does t help, Dh and I rarely even discuss it anymore. (I should add my username is nothing to do with my ttc situation, I name changed to post on a thread about Ashling Murphy and forgot to change back)

SunshineS1 · 23/01/2022 22:22
@SunshineS1 thank you, likewise. It's much more helpful to talk to other people I'm the same boat than the well meaning "just relax and it'll happen" brigade!
Exactly!! Sometimes "relaxing" just doesn't do it I'm afraid. I actually have tried that approach. Stopped opks, stopped tracking for a good 3-4 months. Only dtd when we felt like it and it still didn't happen so I just don't see it ever happening at this point x
@SunshineS1 thank you. No not really. I think I'm just done to be honest. I had a hysteroscopy and a d&c when I had the cyst removed, everything looks fine, there's nothing technically "wrong" but I just feel like I'm done. I'm 38, and I'm tired of thinking about it now. But still every month I'm
hoping..
I really hope you get a bfp soon, it's so heartbreaking. Sounds like you need a good pamper and you time!!!

If you need any support or just a chat, please feel free to message me x

@Sunsunny17

It’s exhausting I’m tried also been 18months. Turned out thyroid prob. Had several chemicals and an mc. I just gave up and resorted to professional help. But they want to stick a camera up my bits and check it’s called hysteroscopy. Yet, no one is replying ..?! Confused
It's crazy isn't it!! I'm still waiting for my referral to a fertility clinic for more investigations, waiting for partners sa results to come back. Other than that, there's nothing more we can do until Feb/march at the earliest.

Have you been waiting long? Xx
@SunshineS1 I feel your pain. We're on cycle 43. I can't even believe I just wrote that. Fuck. I've had surgery for a cervical cyst, I've been on clomid and progesterone, Dh has has SA, I've had a tubal patency test. All perfect. But still no baby. I hope it happens for you soon.
Oh wow, I'm sorry! Are you any closer to finding out your next steps? Xx

SunshineS1 · 23/01/2022 21:52

@Ilikecheeseontoast

They found out I had a high number of NK cells in my uterus which was easily treated with some low dose steroids. This was a private test I had done by Professor Siobhan Quenby. You’ll find some info on it all if you Google it. Interestingly I also have a history of overactive thyroid. Do you have graves?
Ah I see, I've not been diagnosed with Graves. Luckily my thyroid is stable now, no longer need meds. I have asked the gp to check this twice and all came back good thankfully. It was an awful thing though, I was quite poorly from it for a while.

Do you still have an overactive? X

@SunshineS1 I definitely will, I’m hoping it’s my time!🤞🏼

Let me know how you get on!x
@SunshineS1 it’s very frustrating and I can’t for the life in me not think about it, the constant “oh stop thinking about it and it’ll happen” or the “maybe you should start eating a bit better” is just very very tiring to listen to😂

Ovulation is today so I’m entering my tww tomorrow and I’ve done more bd that I think I have in my whole adult life😆 so I’m keeping everything crossed!

Good luck to all of you ladies, I hope we get our bfp’s soon!🤞🏼x
Good luck to you, please keep me updated!!!

I'm waiting for ovulation now, only on cd7 so still got another few days yet but I am honestly praying everyone gets their bfp soon.

If you ever need to talk just drop me a message!! 💕
@SunshineS1 thank you! We are so happy and so excited but I don't think either of us actually believe we're going to be parents in 4 weeks 😬😂. No we're having a surprise, its sort of been torture not knowing, but it's really adding to the excitement now (and I read it's a good incentive during labour 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Definitely have a break if you can - even if it doesn't physically make a difference we put ourselves under SO much pressure ttc, anything that makes you feel better is absolutely worth it.

One thing that I found made me feel better was when AF arrived I'd let myself wallow for a day and be really sad, and really bl**dy angry, and then the next day I'd force myself to think that, however it was going to happen, we were now a month closer to having our baby, rather than focussing on how many months in we were.
Hahaha I can imagine it is an incentive! How exciting, I bet it's been torture not knowing😂 one day closer to finding out though, definitely keep me updated!! I need to know now too!

Some months are worse than others for me, I have got things coming up that will definitely take my mind off it and most times I am pretty positive. I just don't know what's going on with me the past few weeks, it's really taking its toll on me and really is starting to get to me. I had a bit of a wobbler the other day to my partner and said "I honestly can't picture being a mum anymore" it's just been so long😓

I just hope we don't need to go down the ivf etc route and it happens naturally💕
