Ready you are always soooo fab in that you write to each and everyone of us all. Glad you had a lovely birthday - mine was 2 weeks ago so we must both be aquarians!!! Which is clearly the best sign... my ds1 was also an aquarian and I had him 6 days after turning 29... At least look on the bright side you will be a mum before your 30!!! . I know what you mean about the reflexology - going to go this week but then see as I am actually fairly relaxed this pg lark now...well have to be with no bd even dh said to me when I mentioned cd6 today he said he had forgotten what to do - I said he had better remember quickly then... Better take advantage of the fact that for the first time in months we are together a full 13 nights now!!

Rah how are you ?

Nappy How are you feeling - hope you aren't having any nasty side effects!

Lottie how is your month going - hopefully you are not getting stressed out...remember long walks, sunshine, relaxing....

ladylush goodf luck for this month!

Rattling pmsl too at your planned sexathon mind you if we all had our way we all be doing that through the sex zone then chilling through the 2ww zone...

To all the newbies - I need to track back to see where you are all from and what you have all said so I shall be back to say hi to you soon...as no idea where to start - our small thread has tripled in size in the last few weeks - which is fab... just make sure the ones that have been on the list the longest leave first....yay only joking we all need to graduate together and have a mass pregnancy post!! When would we all due... (wonders off to count months - again... )

fym · 12/02/2008 11:06

Just though I had a couple more days thats all! I'd have started the shagathon a bit earlier.

Mind you looking again AF was very short this month (I'm normally a 5-7 day AF) maybe that's the answer. I guess I'll know with the temp tomorrow!

Do you all adjust your temp if you are early or late waking? I normally do but this one looks odd thats all.

Some advice please!

Temp was 97.5 this morning (normally around 97.3) BUT I tested an hour earlier than normal.

TCOYF is adjusting it to 97.7 to account for the earlier time which means I have gone over the coverline - not due to OV until tomorrow. Do you think I have OV this month? I'm hoping not as I'd have done a bit more BD'ing if I'd known.

ClairLesley · 12/02/2008 10:30

Ready ... hope your 29th year is a wonderful one and that it brings you a great big BFP!! Glad to hear your DH spoiled you rotten

Nappy ... I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. It's just not fair.

Rattling ... I'm of your shagathon!! My idea of a shagathon is doing it once a day and we haven't even managed to do that yet ... you're a better woman than I am .

Emmsy ... I LOVED reading that you're trying for #5!! You're my hero for today . I just turned 36 in January and would love to have several kids so you give me hope. Thank you

Rah ... two of my friends had TTC for at least a couple of years each and both told me it was the month that they had the least amount of expectation or hope was the month they hit the jackpot. You never know

So far I've yet to see a +OPK this cycle ... I was hoping to see one this morning. My temp has taken a nose dive over the past 4 days too ... is this normal? Maybe it's just a pre-ovulation thing.

I was also wondering if any of you do an OP test morning & night, or if you stick to once a day? I was thinking of trying again tonight as I've had some cramps that I'm hoping are ov-related ...

Would love to hear your expert advice!

I hope I have added myself correctly. If not, let me know what I did wrong.

Ladylush - Was diagnosed at PCOS in 2000. Wasn't a surprise as I had piled on around 5st after coming off the pill two years earlier. Had 3 out of 3 on their scoring chart; scan showed polycystic ovaries, high testosterone, irregular periods. Was put on Metformin to help me lose weight, then taken off that to start Clomid. After six months I hadn't conceived so they tested DH. Turned out his count was at the low end of normal. Doc then said "perhaps we should have done IUI from the start". I had been on Clomid for 9 months so had to have a break, and I felt under a lot of pressure to go for IVF due to my age (32 at the time). For a number of reasons we decided to walk away from intervention.

Tried on and off over the last few years, but had really given up ever falling pregnant. Then last summer fell pregnant then miscarried. At that point noticed that my periods had been regular for around a year (work had been very busy, you cant expect a girl to notice everything). Doc was great and referred me to a consultant. However, due to DH latest test results last week we were told ICSI is our only option. So we are back where we were 6 years ago, but will less chance of success.

Ready - Temping makes me feel as if I am doing something to make this happen, although when I went to see my consultant last autumn he told me that we shouldn't chart as it puts us under too much pressure. However, if I didn't chart and use OPKs we would have to do a lot more BD and to be honest DH isn't as young as he once was .

rattling · 11/02/2008 17:15

Can I just add. The 5 unit report contradicts other studies that showed no such fertility decrease in moderate (2units/day) drinkers. Instinctively I feel that slowly sipping one glass of wine most nights is better than slamming 5 units in one go. Sorry for adding to all the hysterical reporting of science - drives me mad when the papers do it

Ready · 11/02/2008 17:07

haha. lemondade... I promise I haven't had any today - despite the typos

Ready · 11/02/2008 17:06

*get a bottle

Ready · 11/02/2008 17:05

omg I am sorry FYM, I feel terrible now. Although I stand by what I said... I do think half a bottle a night is too much
Have you tried mixing your white wine with lemonade or soda? I had two glasses of white wine and lemondade and they lasted me the whole evening 7.30 to midnight.

Most weeks I don't drink any alcohol at all, but sometimes I might fancy some, and a bottle that lasts over the course of the week - which at 9 units would be more than recommended I guess

ladylush · 11/02/2008 17:01

Well yes it does but the limits were just figures plucked out of arses - no scientific research iyswim. That said, I did consciously cut down on my intake because instinctively it did feel like I was drinking too much. Reduced fertility at only 5 units a week though - that is shocking

fym · 11/02/2008 16:59

rattling thanks for that - that gives me the rest of my incentive!!!

fym · 11/02/2008 16:58

ready my question the other night was due to the fact that I am around the 1/2 bottle a night - a wee bit more at weekends - and know I need to cut down. I wanted a bit of justification - now I know most of you girls are weekends and odd glasses only it gives me a bit of an incentive.

It just gives you a shock when you add it all up! (1/2 bottle is 4.5 units, *7days is 31.5 units plus a bit more at weekends takes me over twice the recommended limit for women (14 units?)

rattling · 11/02/2008 16:49

I think (from memory and therefore highly dubious), the decrease in fertility begins at over 5 units a week. And that would be a statistical trend - not every women drinking more than 5 units will affect her fertility.

And any wine you drank last night will only affect you, not any pregnancy we have yet to celebrate Ready. Happy Birthday

ladylush · 11/02/2008 16:32

Happy belated birthday Ready I don't blame you for having a drink. Agree - you can't put your life on hold all the time. You have to get on with living sometimes.

Rattling - get loads of rest now cos it sounds like you will need it I was also thinking I should up the action this month but not 3-4 times a day. Unfortunately life has a habit of getting in the way! Might manage twice a day though.

Didn?t temp as I didn?t get to bed until gone 2am. Had a wonderful b-day, and dh spoilt me rotten But a real late night, coupled with a few glasses of wine throughout the day wasn?t good for temping purposes - please don?t judge me, I know I could be pg and feel guilty ? but my life cannot remain on hold anymore - And turning 29 and still not being a mother was sad, since I had thought I would be considering trying for my second round about now ? pah! But best not to dwell.

Rattling, loving the sound of your shagathon? you?ll be walking like John Wayne by the end of it Fingers crossed it works a treat for you!! There is nowt wrong with it being planned if it brings a to the face of your dh! Enjoy!!!

Rah, I am loving your relaxed month ahead ? embrace it (and dh ) to the max! You never know, when you least expect it? Fingers crossed for you flower!

Nappy, Sorry to hear about your brother ? also sorry to hear about your row with your boss eek! Hope you are not to rattled by it.
I am so sorry about this? please don?t hate me, but when I read your post I laughed (out loud!) ?bursting into teats? just tickled me ? and I know it isn?t funny because you are really emotional ? but I hope that it will cheer you up a little

Minxi, ooh yes, you go away soon for your bumper sexfest ? pmsl at you forgetting what to do!! The reflexology is worth every penny if it relaxes you!! Hope you are well? Busy little bee that you are How are you going to get your monitor through the baggage check

FYM, With regards to alcohol consumption, I have been a teetotaller before, for a couple of years I didn?t touch it full stop ? not because of ttc, just down to personal choice, and I thought it made sense to carry this on when we started to ttc, as I had heard that it can affect your chances. The months kept going by without success, and a few people suggested I have a few drinks around the crucial time ? so I thought one day, sod it, I will. So stopped being a teetotaller ? I don?t drink very much at all, but if I fancy a glass or 2 of wine, then I will have it and not worry. I am rambling here? basically I don?t think you should cut it out completely if you enjoy it, just for ttc, because if that was the case there are so many things we could cut out, and still be waiting to conceive and we are missing out on things we like that might have nothing to do with why we don?t conceive. Iyswim? If you were drinking a ½ a bottle of wine every night, I would tell you it was best to ease up, but then that would be nothing to do with ttc, that would be purely health reasons

Ladylush, I think you are right, moderate drinking surely cannot affect conception? But I am happy to be proved wrong, and then perhaps I will reconsider my alcohol consumption (makes me sound like an alcy). Glad you liked the look of the pasta bake, let me know how you get on with it. We love it in this house, we usually have it on a Friday night ? it?s our comfort food

FP, that?s so lovely about the woman from another site, 3 years!! Did she conceive naturally in the end, or was it assisted? not that it matters, it?s still wonderful to hear! PMSL at your dh doing a runner at the slightest whiff of a dirty nappy ? I have a feeling that it will be very similar in this house ? if we ever get there!! Any feedback from your estate agents? I know what you mean about not really knowing from their comments, but fingers crossed for you

LondonLottie, how are you doing? You?ve been fairly quiet since you?ve been back, most unlike you The weather is soooo lovely isn?t it! My next door neighbour said to me this afternoon ?you?ll be out in your bikini soon? ? He?s in his 70s!!! Hope you are doing ok?

Emmsy, that is one high temperature do you normally get as high as 37? I didn?t realise you were trying for number 5 ? wow!!

Hanaflower, Sounds like you had a real busy weekend! So? were you left with a ?clear direction of where you are heading?. And what was the action plan like? Loving the outfits for the belly dancing by the way

Clair, very quiet, is everything ok? Hope so! And I hope you are relaxing and enjoying the business-phase of your cycle?

Right? enough from me?

rattling · 11/02/2008 15:44
