Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

You are always such a darling Hester! I'm sorry that you had to go through this alone but happy that, as you say, your body has been so effcient. And they do say you are so much more fertile after a mc, don't they? Sending you a warm hug (and I'm a soft and curvy woman, so it's nice! Think Ma Larkin!!)

hester · 19/11/2004 18:40

Well done tooks . How lovely for us to be able to share in your good news - you see, this IS a lucky thread!

Moschops - my head's not working too good today and I'm struggling to get my head round your testing dilemma. In your position, I think I would be tempted to test this weekend.

Becki - hugest hugs ever. Oh god, I know how you're feeling. Be gentle with yourself this weekend.

Jeddah - Happy Birthday me old fertile filly

Had a grim day today. Went for my scan to check miscarriage complete (it was). Stupidly, went by myself and then had to sit in wait in the middle of the antenatal clinic. That really hurt. By the time I got in for the scan I was in tears. They obviously see this all the time and were kind but very brisk; patted my knee, did the intravaginal scan, told me it was all over, and turfed me back out into the antenatal waiting room, still sobbing my heart out. I'm not complaining - medically, I was probably the least interesting person they saw all day, and I am truly grateful that my body processed the business so efficiently and I don't have to have an ERPC or bleed for weeks (have read some recent miscarriage threads and am horrified at what some women have to go through - I was surprised at how physically gruelling this has been for me, and it's NOTHING compared to what others have endured). But it felt very lonely and very, very painful.

When I'd finished making a show of myself crying through the hospital, the streets, the tube, and Clapham Common, I spent the afternoon cuddling friends' babies. Bittersweet, but also a wonderful healing feeling. It feels so right, I can't believe I'm not meant to have my own child. We have to keep hoping, don't we?

Hi Ladies. Have doe my OPK which is feint as a feint thing again .... I have kind of period type pains today ... can anyone help??!

moschops · 19/11/2004 18:33

don't know about the Clearblue Easy......i have always used Boots or Superdrug own brand before because they are cheapest.

hmmmmm will buy some tests tomorrow and probably do one on Sunday am. i'd like to think i could wait another week or two before testing but i know i won't be able to

ernest · 19/11/2004 18:27

is clearblue easy different from clearblue then?

btw, soory can't help you re: too early to test. i can't even sort myself out atm! give it a go anyway eh? she says. I'm trying to stop myself

moschops · 19/11/2004 16:27

by the way did a bit of research last night on hpt's.....

found a table on an american site, that listed a few UK tests too.

based on the manufacturers claims (not tested or proven) they listed them in order of sensitivity.

most sensitive was Clearblue Easy(25), then First Response(40), then Boots own (50) and Predictor(50). the numbers after are the level of hcg they detect which i think is in micrograms.

had a leaflet from a Boots test lying around and after reading it thoroughly it doesn't list this info anywhere. not sure if any other tests do?

just thought you might be interested in this.....

footstep · 19/11/2004 16:18

Thanks everybody

ernest - I'll try to wait 'til sunday, but since i've got a test burning a hole in my handbag, I'll be impressed if I hold out 'til tomorrow morning

moschops · 19/11/2004 16:17

ok girls what should i do?

by the way sorry if TMI.....

i have no idea what my normal cycle would be. i came off the pill in March. waited 90 days for first bleed, then had a 44 day cycle, then another mammoth of 80 days. end of last cycle i got sore boobs for first time ever a week before af. i got some EWCM that was pinkish/brown, but didn't write it in my diary so don't know how many days before af it was.(assumed it was af threatening to arrive) on day 15 of this cycle i got the same pinkish brown EWCM and when i checked cervix was high, soft and open. have bd'd every other day for most of this cycle.

anyway, the last few nights i have not been sleeping well at all. i feel quite tired, and a bit queasy. no other symptoms. should i test this weekend or am i being silly? i'm now on CD 27 i just have no idea whether it would be too early to test....

ernest · 19/11/2004 16:06

hula - that's really great - hope the sale proceeds quickly & with as little strees as possible.

sorry footstep. Hopefully it's just a bit early for both of us. try again Sunday?

MINNIE1 · 19/11/2004 16:06

footstep, Sorry BFN but ya never know!!!

Was looking at the stats (Many thanks to gordie your fab for doin it) I am the longest trying 17 months and 1 m/c... i really feel like i am going to give up at this point, So i am going to lurk for a while as i really am fed up of this TTC and getting no where.. Wish all you ladys lots of baby dust and i will be back when i get my heart in to it again...

jeddah · 19/11/2004 16:06

hula well done it looks dead nice!!!!!

happy decorating!

jeddah · 19/11/2004 16:02

footstep....so sorry about BFN !
just to say that there are many women at get a BFN on 12dpo,14dpo and then get a BFP on 16dpo..
so can only say that..........test in another couple of days if no af......think all the tests are pretty much the same

geordie · 19/11/2004 16:02

footstep- soory about the BFN.....there is a slight chance that you've tested too soon.....BUT I'd wait and see what your temps do over the next three days. It is rare to go 16 dpo or more with high temps and not be pg- acc to my book. Your temp maywell come down or at 16 dpo you would get a clear BFP.

HTH

Sallie · 19/11/2004 16:01

Hula - congrats on the house!

Hulababy · 19/11/2004 16:00

footsteps. Hopefully it is still just too early.

geordie · 19/11/2004 15:59

great news hula- just 2 ww for the next opportunity to celebrate!!

I think I may have ov'd early!!!! wow reflexology does help!! Normally ov on cd 18-20 but yesterday had loads of ewcm . Today cervix seems well high and open so yipeee...managed to do the dirty deed last night and will try again tommorrow (dh doesn't do (can't do) two days in a row- never has!)...but feeling very crampy etc so I would bet that O ov yesterday ro today....o and had a temp rise this am!!

so roll on fiday next week so I can see the reflexologist again to make sure that leutal phase is long enough!!

runtus · 19/11/2004 15:59

Footstep sorry about the bfn (or should that be happy?), I have used the Sainsburys's own brand tests as well but as I have only ever got bfn - not sure how good they are with a bfp! I should think they are pretty standard and the result is as accurate as any other at this stage.......maybe test again using another brand if af not arrived in a week?

footstep · 19/11/2004 15:55

Well done Hula - that's great news!

I tested...

BFN

or possibly since i'm not sure I'm really ready to be pg again.

I'm 13DPO today (LP usually 11-12 days). No sign of AF. (Chart here )

It was a sainsbury's own brand - anyone any experience with these? I got a bfn with a tesco own brand on 12DPO with last preg, and then a very clear bfp with the boots version the following day... hmm.

footstep

Hulababy · 19/11/2004 15:53

I know what you mean.

Well I have one Christmas present sorted now but still have to keep working on the second pressie - a BFP would really just make this month completely pefect wouldn't it?! We can but hope
