@paintfairy definitely wish my brothers "bit of fluff" as I still refer to her after 3 years had a skill in avoiding pregnancy. Thank god my brother hasn't got her pregnant yet!

@pennysays literally never heard of fap or fapping 😂 I must have been living under a rock 😂 my DH did it at home, then I had a mad drive to the clinic about 40 mins away to make sure it was still ok to test (I took it as it was in the city I commute to) strapped it in the passenger seat with the heated seat on 🙈 that was a private clinic though that was doing us some fertility/MC investigations so I'm sure they all have their own guidance on where to fap

@pennysays as @Juno231 says it'll be done at the clinic/hospital now, though ours always was even during covid. In a sterile room with no internet 😂😂he might need to take some ahem stimulation material

@pennysays now that covid restrictions have lessened the flapping takes place at the clinic. It's better though due to how quickly the sample has to get to the lab.

@Somatronic God men are naive. 🙄 I hate it when people (some women actually do it to) just don't see what's in front of them. I can straight away tell if someone is being mean and there are so many (usually women) that do it in a sly way. But to me it's obvious? The first time you can maybe brush it off as accidental, if its constant then erm, nope! 🤬

@paintfairy well I couldn't believe my husband was stupid enough to tell her anything. That's the last thing she'll be told. He convinces himself that she's just a bit clumsy, when I know that she's a vindictive bitch. The story about the wedding was funny because this was the first I heard of the fight between her nieces, whereas her own efforts to ruin our wedding caused significant stress to us in the run up.

Im one fap-in-a-cup away from a referral to fertility clinic for clomid. I’ll keep you posted. Can anyone tell me their partners experience of the sperm analysis on the NHS? I mean, what happens? Apart from the fapping? And the cup.

@Somatronic God, what a cow! We actually told no one at all about having IVF. Then you don't get people giving their opinions. I don't know why they always see it as their place to? Arguing at someone else's wedding isn't really good though, I'll agree with that. 🤣

@BellatrixK the constant announcements are tough. The weird mixture of being happy for people but also jealous. It's not nice.

I've been in my mother in law's house for an hour and I'm ready to murder her. She spent a half an hour badmouthing her nieces who had a fight at our wedding, saying it's the worst thing ever to do that at someone else's wedding. This is the woman who wasn't coming to our wedding until 24 hours before the event because she was upset that she couldn't control what time her other son left the house to come to the wedding? Madness.

Anyway I am now listening to her talking about how IVF is weird and a waste of money and she wouldn't do it. And adoption is icky too and she wouldn't do that either. She is saying thing purely to hurt my feelings.

That's the fucking end of dry January anyway 😤

@polkadotpixie sorry that you’re feeling down. Totally understandable. TTC is actually awful. Honestly, thought it would be exciting and fun, but it definitely isn’t.

@Manifestingbaby I definitely get the holding on for a miracle, especially when it had happened for so many people here. It is hard when you’re in the middle of it though. I honestly think if someone could tell me how long I have to wait I could be so patient, but the uncertainty is impossible to deal with.

Someone I know well has just avoided a pregnancy. I’m so so pleased for them, but so jealous too. In nicer news, I am off out tonight with my mum and sister to watch The Rocky Horror Show. Currently getting ready and wearing ALL the make up!

@Polkadotpixie sorry to hear that. Think it is a good idea to get the ball rolling and see what you can do. No harm. Totally get you on the baby stuff. I keep trying to declutter but can't sort that stuff as just don't know what to do with it. Especially the bigger stuff like cot and buggy.

I think the whole IVF argument does differ if you already have a DC @DKDK123 @Franklydear because you are right- there needs to be a balance. You have to think about your current child and their needs, and costs. So it's weighing up what you can and can't realistically do.
However if you don't have a child already, then it really comes down to whether you are really bothered or not. 🤷‍♀️ If you aren't then you won't see it worth spending the money. Which was the issue i would have had with DH, if we'd had to pay. I reckon at a push though (took me ages chipping away) I'd have persuaded him to do one round paid for. No it's not guaranteed but if you don't try, you don't know. Our odds were rubbish but it worked. So nothing is impossible. But neither is it guaranteed. There are deals that can be done so it costs a bit less but I'm over the age threshold for most (anyone that isn't has better cost options).

Obviously there really are some people that cannot afford it because they can't afford to heat their house or buy food right now, let alone much else (but then I'd argue they can't afford a child naturally either). But I have friends that moan about affording it and in 8 months they will have had 2 holidays abroad at a cost of over 3k. Which actually could have gone towards it? Or they have new cars they can't afford to buy and happily pay monthly for finance or lease. So it really is a case of deciding your priorities. If you can afford to go out for meals, drinking, weekends away, holidays etc then there is no way you can't make cut backs and savings.

In my personal case we don't earn amazingly. But none of us have debt (apart from the mortgage). We have old cars that are paid for. We also both afford to save slightly every month if we try. So although DH deemed us as not affording it, realistically we could have if we tried. Certainly 1 go at least!
