Hi @Dragon82 - we seems in similar spots! I've got a 20 month old son and TTC no.2 for last 7 months. Also had an early miscarriage in June. I turned 40 in April..

Dragon82 · 30/08/2022 13:40

Hi all, it’s a rollercoaster isn’t it! I’ve posted on here before but I’m 40 on 7th of sept, have a 19 month old son (took 16 months TTC for him). Trying for number two and Had two early miscarriages at 9 weeks and 11weeks in April and July.

read ‘it starts with the egg’ after second miscarriage and in a panic bought tons of vitamins. I’m taking them but doubt they’ll have much impact.

In the last month I’ve decided to switch jobs, handed notice in 2 weeks ago and working my 3 month notice period. So in a strange way taken the pressure off TTC as getting pregnant before starting a new job would be a little awkward. Has helped me to calm down a bit, we are still trying but taken the focus off it. It’s exhausting symptom checking and this is the first month in a while I’ve stopped symptom checking! Good luck to all of us, it’s a battle and I think we are all incredible. Be bold, be fearless, we’ve got this!

@HWT ugh, it's so hard not to get caught up in all the little details 🤦🏻‍♀️😅 temp is still up high today, so if I go with FF estimation of ovulation, then I guess the temp drop/spotting could have been implantation, so still not out til I'm out I guess! Going to try and hold off testing until Monday, but whether I manage it is another matter 🤣

HWT · 26/08/2022 20:22

I gave up with my thermometer and my acupuncture therapist told me to throw it in the bin! Try to focus on the trend rather than day to day spikes perhaps and maybe combine with the sticks too to pin point it! 🤯

LucyFraser1981 · 26/08/2022 12:12

Aaargh. My temp chart is confusing me 😭 I either ovulated cd12/13, or cd15. If cd15, then yesterday was 10dpo, and I had a massive temp drop (just below coverline). Had a tiny amount of very pale brown CM that then had stopped by the afternoon. Little bit of cramping. Then this morning my temp has shot way back up to it's highest?! My cycles are usually very regular, 28/29 days, so period not due until Sunday or Monday really, so no idea what's going on. I'd opened a pregnancy test on Wednesday night, but told myself to wait and test yesterday, so did it anyway even after the bug temp drop, and it was definitely negative. Is my body just trying to give me a mental breakdown?! 😭

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone on here had had any success with Clomid?
I have been told by the nhs that I can't have any (I think my age -43) but have really pushed and managed to get 1 dose which I haven't taken yet.
I then had a private consultation who told me it was unlikely to work as I was already ovulating but eventually said I could but suggested 6 cycles at £650 each!
I then asked about the Hycosy treatment which is another £550 and he said evidence was anecdotal.

I feel like I am banging my head against the wall trying to find a solution.

AMH 5, LH 7.7, FSH 12.1 so in the normal range for my age - I realise could be better - follicle count 10 and 12 - both sides work too as got an egg from each side when we did ivf. regular periods every month and tests suggest I ovulate- but it feels like doctors are full of doom and gloom and low statistics which are just averages of averages!

So frustrated right now!

jalu47 · 25/08/2022 09:42

Hi ladies - just found this thread. I'm 40 and TTC no.2. I have a 20 month old who was conceived within 2 weeks of trying. Much harder this time! 7 months in and had a mc in June at 6 weeks. 7DPO and hoping to test this weekend.

LucyFraser1981 · 25/08/2022 09:11

Well seems no luck for my partner and I this month, temp dropped right back down this morning (12dpo) and FRER is negative. I was feeling so hopeful this month as I had a weird stitch/stabbing pain at 6dpo, just like I had with my son. I wish I could learn to stop myself from over analysing everything, but I'm like that on every day life, so seems unlikely I'll manage it with TTC 😕
How's everyone else doing?

Iusedtobedontcall · 23/08/2022 10:04

I hope so - but I’m just not sure. I have some cheapy tests and I don’t know if I left them long enough before reading the result when I tested after the miscarriage.

I need to step away from the tests now until next week at least. I have been having cramps and sore boobs.

LucyFraser1981 · 22/08/2022 23:58

@Iusedtobedontcall I'd tentatively be thinking that's an accurate positive, if you've tested negative since your miscarriage? I totally understand not wanting to get excited after such a recent loss 💗 wishing you lots of luck xx

Iusedtobedontcall · 21/08/2022 10:41

I tested positive this morning. Feel confused though because I miscarried 3 weeks ago so maybe it could be hormones left from that. We have been trying though and I did get a positive ovulation test etc. I did have previous negative pregnancy tests after the miscarriage. Can’t get excited though - so will just have to wait.

Shasha2 · 20/08/2022 20:34

@Holls81 my mum had me (&twin) at 42. No problems at all. So I’m hoping I have her genes lol🤞

Holls81 · 20/08/2022 19:06

@Shasha2 that is exactly how I described it to my dh…. Like someone’s missing ❤️

Shasha2 · 20/08/2022 18:43

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 16:55

@Shasha2 ahh I'm with you with tye symptom spotting, currently 6dpo and had a further temp spike this morning, so then obviously got straight onto Google to see if it meant anything 🤔😅

@LucyFraser1981 😂 so hard not to though! It could be a good sign for you!

Shasha2 · 20/08/2022 18:26

@coldcoldheartt sorry to hear that.

Shasha2 · 20/08/2022 18:15

@Holls81 you definitely still have time.

Shasha2 · 20/08/2022 18:12

@LucyFraser1981 thank you. I never did have therapy after the loss, I suppose I didn’t want to accept it was real. I just focused on having another baby and thankfully I did a year later. But I guess it could be the reason I don’t feel my family is complete, always feeling like one is missing. Now in my 40’s reflecting on that time more I guess.

I didnt want the loss to define my family size, as always wanted 3 children. But I think for dh it was the deciding factor for years, although now he is open to one more.

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 21:32

@coldcoldheartt and I'm sorry it wasn't the news you hoped for 😔

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 21:31

@coldcoldheartt thanks, think we'll look into it next year if no luck by Christmas. We're in Somerset, so hoping not as expensive as London 😬

coldcoldheartt · 19/08/2022 17:55

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 16:54

@coldcoldheartt where did you go for the MOT? My GP has said they won't offer Mr any help due to being nearly 41 and already having a son from previous relationship. She said as my periods are regular that means I'm ovulating, and just to keep trying... 🙄But I'm wondering if knowing what's what could be helpful. As my partner last had a sperm analysis nearly three years ago now too. I temp, so know that I do ovulate, but obviously no clue about egg health/viability. Hope your results come back positive!

I went to a private clinic up north (it's a chain) and it was 320£. I think if you're in London the same chain is slightly more expensive.

Wasn't great news for us unfortunately, I had low follicle/egg count and DH sperm was poor quality also. He went through chemo a few years ago, so we were kind of expecting that anyway.
I'm sad but also relieved to at least know what we are dealing with now.

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 17:02

@Holls81 meant to tag you in my comment above about therapy but it didn't work! Anyway, wishing us all luck 💗🤞

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 17:01

@Anthurium good to know, thank you. Might be something we look at in a few months.

LucyFraser1981 · 19/08/2022 17:00

@Shasha2 sorry for your loss 😔 sounds like it was a difficult time for you, bit glad you got through it. Therapy is a wonderful thing, I gave myself therapy sessions for my 40th birthday last year, and they've helped massively. Just winding down with sessions now, think my last one will be after my birthday in a months time. Definitely the most useful present I ever got myself!
I also fell super quick with my son when I was almost 31, so you just assume it'll happen that way again, but I'm almost ten years down the line now 😕 Here's hoping we'll all be lucky! 🤞

Most comprehensive MOT fertility tests are done at private fertilility clinics, they come under MOT packages sometimes for either the woman or a couple. Can be done for under £400 or so, dependent on the area/fertility clinic. London ones /Harley Street charging more.
