Hi ladies. Lovely to see so many of us here! I’m 43 & 12 weeks pregnant today. Please don’t give up trying! I took folic acid & a vitamin B complex everyday for 2 or 3 months before my positive result which I think was my saving grace.

I have a son who’s 13 & my partner has 3 with his ex: 15-12-&7.

His ex asked him if we planned it, which im a little taken aback by - even our family & close friends havent asked us this!

Does anyone else get off questions at our age??!!

Trying81 · 10/01/2022 12:23

I’m 2DPO (learning the lingo)

First month we’ve tracked properly, and this 2WW is going to be tough as my DH is convinced it’ll work

Trying81 · 10/01/2022 12:22

@CherylPorter350 Yes

They’re my step children but I do worry that having our own will upset them - and that they’ll feel pushed out, even though I’d make sure that’d never happen

CherylPorter350 · 10/01/2022 12:12

Does anyone ever feel scared at this age? Especially those who have older DC

Equimum · 10/01/2022 11:42

Hi, I am about t I turn 40. We have two children, but started trying for DC3 last year. Got pregnant straight away but it was a MMC picked up at my 12 week scan. Then had two earlier miscarriages, so not under the recurrent miscarriage team. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but it's really hard!

Boombangboom · 10/01/2022 10:23

@Robgem81 have you looked into killer cells and immunes? Please look into this as this may be the cause of you losses. I was treated for high killer cells and only successful pregnancy. Pm me for more details or check out dr Gorgy or, Shehata

Robgem81 · 10/01/2022 09:01

I'm 41 this year. I've been ttc number 2 for a year now. We've had 3 mc Sad. Still we continue on. Fell with my son first time at 37. Following him I developed hassimotos so I'm sure that has not helped but seems to be under control. We will be seen in the recurrent miscarriage clinic in March. Not ready to give up yet!

EishetChayil · 10/01/2022 08:48

@Boombangboom That is very useful practical advice - thank you! I'm planning to have some tests done if we haven't conceived by my 41st birthday (two more cycles to go until then). I'm going to bite the bullet and go private - can't afford to wait around.

EishetChayil · 10/01/2022 08:47

So good to see more over-40s here. Definitely makes me feel less alone, as all of my friends are spring chicks in their 20s and 30s!

This was my OPK this morning. We did the deed last night (so hard to find the time and energy with a toddler...) so hopefully we should catch ovulation if it happens today.

Hi all, I’m 41 and just wanted to add some advice from my own experience as finally successful with dc 2 after 4mmc and multiple ivf.
Read it starts with the egg - dh and I took all the supplements recommended.
Ubiquinol and folate rather than coq10 or folic acid
I read quite a bit of research on the positive effect of low carb and high protein diet
I cut out alcohol and so did dh
Get tests done to check your fertility and partners sperm - there can often be a simple issue ( especially with sperm) which can be improved with life style changes
Don’t ttc naturally for too long - I was scared of ivf and kept delaying doing it. If you think you might consider it, then look into it sooner rather than later ( it wasn’t as bad as I thought at all) the HFEA website has lots of info on clinics and ivf
I wish you all the very best of luck !

Bluelightbaby · 09/01/2022 23:14

Just to add that we had an early miscarriage last month, although didn’t know we were PG at the time, still very upsetting though :(

Bluelightbaby · 09/01/2022 23:11

I’m 42 next week (!) I was married for 20yr and have two teenage DD who still live with their dad (although I have them 50% of the time)

My new partner and I have been together nearly two years now, we met at work :)

My new partner is only 32 and doesn’t have any children. He wants them but not yet, but my biological clock is ticking VERY loudly. We (I) hope to start TTC very soon, I’m super broody and desperate for another baby. Before working for the ambulance service I was a childminder for ten years. Love a home full of children !

All my friends think I’m mad having a baby at this age and now my children are independent so going back to babies again !

I’ll be following this post :)

1moretry · 09/01/2022 22:56

Please can I join Smile

41 ttc #2 for 18 months now, no luck.

I use opk's and take ttc vitamins and conceive plus ovulation.

Is anyone looking to change anything to help with ttc- I'm slightly overweight so am this year cutting down portion sizes and treats!

GingerFox2021 · 09/01/2022 22:09

Hello. TTC number 2 for 1,5 years (on and off). Have a girl, she’s 2 and a half.
41, will be turning 42 in March.

Lauraliverpool · 09/01/2022 21:49

Hi, 40 here, got a little boy, mmc before him and two after, two failed rounds of IVF, so have continued to try, worried its not going to happen again.

Montague22 · 09/01/2022 20:41

Hi
I’m toying with the idea of another baby. Would be number 4. My youngest is 4.
I’m really broody but not sure why 😊

kirinm · 09/01/2022 19:38

Hi, I'm 43 and sadly we are on month 22 of trying. I think my chances are very low but I keep on!

CherylPorter350 · 09/01/2022 18:42

I take prenatal, coQ10 and conceive plus ovulation support.

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 17:12

@JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien just folic acid, prob get some prenatal ones if we are lucky enough to fall pregnant

Daimari · 09/01/2022 16:02

Me. We have a one year old DS. Hoping to start TTC in April.

JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien · 09/01/2022 16:00

Can I ask what supplements any of you are taking? I only take prenatal vitamins at the moment but have been reading a bit about ubiquinol recently. It's so confusing trying to work which ones are good quality and how much to take etc.

EishetChayil · 09/01/2022 13:46
@EishetChayil welcome and here's hoping 🤞

I'm glad that I'm not the only one trying over 40.

Second baby for us too

We have a 3 year old.

Although I think I'm the oldest here - 43
My mother-in-law had my DH when she was 43!

Glad to have found some other over-40s TTCers on here.

JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien · 09/01/2022 13:33

Lovely to see this thread and have some company! I'm 41 and have been TTC number 2 for about a year. My DD is 3 years old.

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 13:28

That’s exciting!!

My partner has 2 with his ex, we’ve been together 7 years and married almost a year

CherylPorter350 · 09/01/2022 13:22
@CherylPorter350 will it be your first together with your partner?
Yes, it will be. We have 5 children but none together. We have been together 10 years, married nearly 5
