Does anyone use those clearblue ovulation tests? I had 1 day of low fertility, and now 5 days of high fertility. Before I only had 1 day of high fertility and it peaked the next day. It says it can mean you haven't ovulated or you could have had a low surge. If it was low does that mean I still have a chance? The only thing different this month is that I've taken a multi vitamin, upped the folic acid , and I started taking coq10. So I don't know if I'm just late ovulating or what. It's cycle day 14.

Or ovulation tests?

I have asked and received some useful replies about fertility testing on here before so I've been researching a few places looking to get this booked in for both of us. I just wondered if anyone had any reccommendations of clinics in the north of England? We are based in Sotuh Cumbria so I have been looking at Manchester and Lancashire based clinics but can also reasonably travel to Yrkshire or the north east.

Also - an optional extra is the Hycosy I just wondered if people had had this as a may as well just make sure? Or only if after the initial tests the clinic have reccommended it? The prices have been coming up £400 - £450 for the couples fertility testing and then an additional £400 ish to add the Hycosy on

Any experiences gratefully received!

Thanks. I will try and get an appointment. Or maybe that test! I think with ivf at 40 I wouldn't be able to get it on the nhs. Just a bit worried the tests will show I have a low chance. I shouldn't have left things so long but it never felt like the right time.

I wouldn't wait 6 months and actually my GP said not to wait as the process takes time for referral to ivf. Testing for PCOS is a separate matter so no need to wait y months to check that, and definitely shouldn't wait as losing valuable time. Also good to get other tests done. There is a place that BPAS clinic recommended called Hertility where you can send off for fertility tests for £150. If I had known about this pre 40 I would have done it. Also do check It Starts with the Egg book for info on supplements, tests, vit d, diet, toxins etc. Good that you are taking vits etc and there's more you can take.

I'm 40 and trying to concieve. Started part way through October and nothing is happening. Got a clearblue ovulation kit in January. Two days it showed low fertility, then one day high and the next day peak. Not helped though.

I get my periods every month but cycle length keeps changing. Latest is 29 days, but has gone up to a max of 33 and lowest 25 in the last 5 months. Always had painful periods, am overweight and have oily skin. Keep wondering if I have PCOS. Get a few excess hairs around my chin and lips. Nothing major though.

Not been to the doctors as its not been 6 months yet of ttc. I am trying my best to go to the gym and lose weight, trying to cut down on what I eat. I'm taking vitamin d and folic acid and have started taking probiotics. Maybe I've just left it too late. I started my periods early in life at 10. I didn't realise this could mean that your fertility could decline quicker. That's what Dr Google is telling me anyway.

yes that's right, first thing You can then save the temp reading until you are properly awake and then you enter it into whichever fertility app you have that is made for this. The app will explain everything.

Re testing, you can get the cheap strips rather than the smiley face one (I buy 50 a go on Amazon) and I test from around day 10 and atm usually get an LH surge on day 12 which means I ovulate around day 13/14. Some months it has been much later and this is likely to change with age so until your app gets your rhythm it's good to test from around day 9 or 10.

I did use ovulation tests before we conceived our DD..but never got the smiley 😃 face

@oxfordinwinter85 I use an app called Natural Cycles which predicts ovulation based on temperatues that I enter daily. You're supposed to take your temp every morning before getting up and right after waking. It also prompts me to do ovulation tests and it explains when and how to take your temperature correctly.
As someone with seriously low amh and low antral follicle countthe nhs won't offer me ivf so I'm trying naturally using the books It Starts with the Egg to help. If you haven't I would get referred for ivf asap even if you don't want it as then you'll get tests done and will have a good idea of your chances /options.

Just went with before we conceived DD1.
But now with my age - I need more help.

@oxfordinwinter85 are you temperature tracking or just periods and sex? I ask as I can't see where ovulation is, which temp would help with. When predicted ovulation is coming I aim to dtd for the five days before ovulation dayx on ovulation day and the day after. Managed all but one last time! Obvs not always possible. If my tempntracker predicts ovulation I can then be more precise with the opks (or make up for not temperatire checkig and jist guessing). Sometimes ov day is way earlier or layer than normal.

@Ronnyrambler what do you think of the app prediction I was given? Should I DTD every other day ?

I do opks (ovulatuon tests) as well as temperature app (though am a bit lazy with the temp right now...It helps me remember to put aside to dtd whether or not I feel like it on the crucial days!

I've been using an app to track and I think I need to do more DTD than this!

Didn't overthink it with my first and was pregnant in 8 months...

I'm 43, DD1 is now 3.5.
I often feel like I'm too old now and should have tried earlier. I don't know any older mums. Most are around 35 at my playgroup.
