Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

watching coronation st whilst DH is out at his dive club (grown men in wet suits playing in putney swimming pool) having a glass of rose and stressing about the packing that isn't going to do its self! We complete next Friday so wil have to get to it this weekend!

nomoremagnolia · 04/06/2008 19:43

endometrium is the womb lining I think? No idea on the antral follicles though!
I'm busy knitting and MNing while waiting for DH to come home from running club so we can have dinner. What exciting things are you up to?

mowmi · 04/06/2008 19:40

fingers crossed!

had a scan on Friday and all looked good (apparently? good endometrium, lots of antral folicles???) It's all a bit confusing at the moment - expect I'll be an expert after our induction on Friday!

How you doing tonight?

nomoremagnolia · 04/06/2008 19:30

Looks like things are definitely on the up for you then Great news on selling the flat and on the promotion. Now to make the baby eh?

mowmi · 04/06/2008 19:20

we gone to our NHS consultants private clinic (wait in my area is 2.5 years for NHS) we're seeing Geeta Nargund at Create in Raynes Park

mowmi · 04/06/2008 19:17

Hi nomore, yes we have I bowed out when DH was diagnosed....feel like I've done nothing this year but work and visit hubbie in hospital!!
Our luck seems to be on the turn...I got promoted last week and we've finally exchanged today on our new house (finally got rid of our flat which was beginning to feel like a noose around our necks!)
Are you still in positive mode? I hope so...I have my fingers firmly crossed for you! where you having your treatment?

nomoremagnolia · 04/06/2008 19:09

Hi mowmi Have we met before (either on here or antoher thread)? Great news about your DH getting the all clear, I bet that was a relief. I haven't used accupuncture, I was going to look into it, but we ended up doing IVF sooner than I thought we would so it got a bit forgotten in the rush! Which clinic are you at? If you want to keep that annonymous then don't say - I won't mind!

mowmi · 04/06/2008 19:04

Hi Ladies,

I've been lurking in the background reading this thread...
Do you mind if I join you?
We are starting IVF next month - I have Polycystic O and DH had a low normality count to start with but that was just the start of our problems, we've had a rough six months - he's just been given the all clear from testicular cancer (best news ever!) but now we have to rely on his frozen sperm for the foreseeable.
We have our induction soon and should be starting at the end of this month.
I don't know anyone else who's had IVF so I'm hoping I'll be able to tap in to you ladies?

Question - anyone using accupunture to compliment their treatment? I've had great results improving my PO so I'm going to carry on...

Sorry this has been all about me, hope your all good tonight and looking forward to some good news soon

x

Enjoy France sooty I had a brie pannini yesterday, just in case it was my last chance to have one!

sootykalucy · 04/06/2008 14:32

Hi coggy, I agree with soosy, do stick around and tell us about the adoption, it's quite a good antidote to the sense of despair that IVF can bring.

Glad to hear you are feeling more positive nomore, I felt for you having to adjust your expectations. My experience was the opposite where I felt very disappointed with the amount of follicles and then pleased with the embryo's, you just never know do you?

I hope your silence is good news swerve . . . .

I am going away for two weeks - camping in France. It is some small compensation that I won't have to avoid stinky cheese and wine when I am over there. I really need to let go of all this for a while and build up my resources again as I am sure you will understand. I"ll be checking back in two weeks and I really hope that at least one of you three in the waiting room (onlyaphase you must be there by now), if not all, are successful . . . good luck and fingers & toes crossed for you

nomoremagnolia · 04/06/2008 12:48

I am feeling a bit more positive today. Before we did the ET I was saying to DH that we potentially had 10 babies that we had created and therefore were responsible for giving at least a chance of life to. He was/is adamant that he only wants 2 kids so this was a bit of a sticking point for us as if we got twins first time then he'd want to stop and I felt we 'owed' the frozen ones at least the chance. Anyway last night he said maybe this is the way it's meant to be - we hsve twins now and our family is complete without the guilt/responsibility for any frozen embryos. Fingers crossed eh? (Can you tell I'm feeling a bit more positive about it )

soosy · 04/06/2008 12:38

Oh coggy, I know what you mean about the days before the anniversary being worse. Will you stick around and let us know about the adoption please, we would love to hear from you.

Nomore We all have these moments during the 2WW. It's not over yet and coggy is right you have to stay positive!

DH has gone away on Business, so we are on our own. Six days in to the 2ww. DH was asking when I am going o test last night, I said don't ask let's just see what happens.

OAP hope all is going well, looking forward to hearing from you on Friday.

coggy · 03/06/2008 22:57

Oh dear...we really are having a depressing time on this thread aren't we?
Nomore....try to be positive...it's an emotional roller-coaster that's for sure...you haven't failed at all. I only produced two eggs TOTAL! Positive thinking....you had the best two chosen and put back into you to start growing. (((hugs)))

to hear about those bfns ladies....good that your appointment is only in a few weeks though sooty.....enjoy those large glasses of wine while you can.

We are hoping to adopt in this country. Our LA is not willing to accept anyone who wouldn't consider adopting a child of 5 years old. We are keen to have siblings so we shall see!

We had my DSs ashes scattered up at the local crem. and he has his name and a couple of sentences written in the book of rememberence which is lovely. I find that the days leading up to anniversaries are usually worse than the day itself. I think this weekend was grotty because AF appeared on Saturday and I was sad AND pre-menstrual.....NOT a good combination!!!!!

All's back to normal here now though...thank you all.

nomoremagnolia · 03/06/2008 21:54

Hi girls - I am weirdly feeling that the IVF is over - because we have no more appointments, no embryos frozen and no reason to go back to the clinic after spending most of last week there! I really can't make myself think that I'm carrying two embryos at the mo, just that we've failed to get any to freeze (we were kind of thinking that we'd do a 'super harvest' on the NHS and that would keep us going for at least acouple of frozen cycles). Is this something anyone else has felt? I feel really odd about it and have to keep reminding myself that it's not over yet!

nomoremagnolia · 02/06/2008 17:38

sooty but at least you know foe sure now - enjoy your wine!
soosy good news about the house sale
swerve sorry it was negative again - hope you get an answer when you stop the drugs

soosy · 02/06/2008 17:15

sooty, sorry to hear you had a definite no, have a lovely glass of wine and enjoy it!

Swerve sorry also that you have had another negative.

Some good news, we exchanged on our house today, so it has sold! All we have to do is find one to live in!

sootykalucy · 02/06/2008 17:08

Hi all, I got the call from the clinic and it is a definate no. I will be opening that bottle shortly . . . The only good news is that the nurse was really helpful about making sure my next appointment is with the Dr I like in three weeks time. Hopefuly I will be able to start downregging again in July for an August cycle - that's what I am hoping anyway.

Glad to hear you are still hanging in there swerve, it's not over till it's over . . .

Even though I still wish I was in it, I don't envy you guys in the 2ww. Fingers crossed.

swerve · 02/06/2008 13:43

coggy, I have no idea how hard the anniversary must be for you. I hope you are coping ok. I send you my love and best wishes. Adopting must be a hugely exciting prospect. I have several friends who have done so (overseas adoption) and have found such joy and love they couldn't have imagined.

oh dear, it seems a little sad on this thread this weekend. Soosy and Nomore, I hope you're doing well and relaxing into the 2ww. I feel our fortune will change with you. please!!

I was advised to keep on the drugs and test again, which I did this morning. Still nothing. No AF either. So I'm coming off the drugs and no doubt she'll turn up sometime soon. So now on for planning the next harvest. July, I hope. It's incredible how fast a year can drag by in all this!

soosy · 02/06/2008 12:41

Oh Sooty, sorry life is a bit bleak a the moment, it does get better. Your clinic is good, mine just makes you do a hpt at home 2weeks after transfer and that's it. To be honest I don't even bother to ring them if it is negative now, just to make another appointment.

Coggy, I am sorry that this is a sad time for you, but good that you remember your DS. I am pleased that your referees are as you hoped! We too looked into adoption, I was told when I was 32 I was too old to adopt a child under the age of three, in the London area. Are you thinking of adopting here or abroad Coggy? I would like to adopt from China, if things don't work out (they like older parents), but DS wants a brother!! fussy devil.

Nomore hope you are having an ok 2 ww. I am hating it already , and am trying ot convince myself it hasn't happened to make it easier for me.

sootykalucy · 02/06/2008 11:38

Hi, I just got back from the clinic after doing my bloodtest. Would be extremely surprised to have a reversal of fortune . . but I am still hoping. Was harder than I thought it would be going in, I guess because all the other times I have been in there it is for treatment - so you are in the positive mindset of 'maybe this time', whereas this time it felt quite bleak. Hmmn . . .

sootykalucy · 02/06/2008 09:06

Hi Coggy, I hope your anniversary passed with some solace and grace.

As for your sister as a referree, I wouldn't worry if she said something negative amongst the good, in fact if I was assessing it I'd take that as a sign of honesty and openness. I'd be more worried about the fabricated 'perfect' couple!
Good luck with your adoption, it's certainly a route I have been thinking of as well - sometimes it seems so indulgent to divest so many of the world's resources into creating children when there are so many out there that need looking after. Othertimes I just want my own.

nomoremagnolia · 01/06/2008 21:50

Coggy - don't quite know what's the 'right thing' to say about your DS's anniversary but I hope that it wasn't too painful or hard for you. Do you have a place where he is buried/ashes scattered that you can go to? Did you do anything special to mark the anniversary? (big hugs)

coggy · 01/06/2008 21:36

Sooty...I'm sorry to hear that you have had AF . I also had the four rounds of IUI and then when my one (and only) IVF attempt failed I felt AWFUL. I'm a very emotionally balanced person and didn't feel too bad when the IUIs didn't work but I certainly went into mourning for a few days. I was really surprised how disappointed and basically hopeless I felt, but after 2 or 3 days I just got back to it again. I think that we need that time to adjust, come to terms with the sad news and let all the drugs/tension/greif out of us.
Hope you and your DH are looking after each other.
X

nomore....hurrah for you with your two on board!! Keep those two safe now.
X

Soosy...I missed your thread yesterday as I haven't been around (anniversary of my DS birth/death this weekend, so all a bit sad here in the Coggy household.) I hope that everythings settled down for you and I look forward to hearing some positive news from you very soon.
Two out of my three referees said that they couldn't think of anything negative to say about us, which is lovely, and the third is my sister...so she'd better be nice or else!!!

sootykalucy · 01/06/2008 20:30

Glad to hear your bleeding is dying down soosy. You must be feeling little let down nomore . . .but stay positive because although we always like to have a backup plan we often don't need it !

soosy · 01/06/2008 18:03

Hi nomore good to have company in the house, 5 and 7 cells are good, I am keeping everything crossed for you.

OAP, good luck for your epic journeys this week hope all goes well. Look forward to hearing from you on Friday.

The bleeding is subsiding so we live in hope, but FET has half the success rate of a fresh cycle, so trying not to think about it! (HA HA HA)
