IVFers thread

Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

Hello ladies

I've been away too - I've not caught up properly but lots of love to those who were unlucky this time IVF is so hard isn't it, emotionally, financially, physically - of course if it works all that pales into insignificance...

I'm about to start puregon on Weds with a view to ec on 8th April, staying quite calm at the mo - probably due to having been at my parents and being able to relax there...back to reality today!

SaveScrabulous · 23/03/2008 22:35

So sorry I've been AWOL - I was away!
Will post more soon as very late now but wanted to say hi!

nomoremagnolia · 22/03/2008 17:20

I second the spring-in-the-air / babies-on-the-mind PMA idea
We've got our consultation on Wed, will get talked through the whole thing and get DH's test results back. What else might I expect from this? If we're going for it on the next cycle (as implied by the nurse I saw last week) then we could be looking at EC/ET at the very end of May - does that count as spring still?

swerve · 22/03/2008 16:56

OAP, you're absolutely right. It will work! Spring is in the air (is it??) and baby-making is on our minds. It will work! I know it will.

and, OAP, why wait? Is april a difficult month to start for you or does it just seem too soon? I agree about the houseboat with a tot, but being on the river in the spring is so wonderful. I used to live on a houseboat in London, many years ago. my boatmate and I used to sit on the deck in the evenings, glass of wine in hand and watch the marathon runners training. A great view!

I managed to get myself into such a depressed mood. when in found myself crying while walking to our babygroup I realised I had to get a grip. So I've been to the gym 4 times last week (haven't done nothing for ages) and it really has helped. Those endorphins (or smug pride) has really picked me up.

I think we'll go for a FET on my april cycle. easy peasy!

Onlyaphase · 21/03/2008 21:29

Right, now let us see if we can re-energise this rather depressing thread and keep it going until we get some positive results!

Soosy - how did the mortgage valuation go on Thursday? Hope you got the result you wanted? I take it you have found somewhere and also found a buyer - good going in this market, congratulations. I had the most dreadful dream last week that our buyer dropped out after keeping us hanging on for ages....luckily I woke DH to tell him this, and he pointed out that our buyer had actually completed 11 months ago, and we had moved house already. It is just such a stressful time, and things are out of your control which doesn't really help

EHM, Malaket - so sorry to hear your news, really thought that it would work for you. Statistically, it should work for someone on this thread soon, surely.

Swerve - I know exactly what you mean about failed cycles meaning more now, after having had a successful cycle. You know what you are missing out on

RedQueen - 1 April is fast approaching! The days will fly by once you start downregging - are you sniffing or injecting?

I'm off to have the followup with the clinic on 28 March, then will try to schedule another cycle in May/June - though this will probably mean starting to downreg mid April, so maybe I will leave it another month? I am very keen to fit in 3 cycles this year before hitting 39 in December, so can't really leave it too long. I'll use my usual clinic again I think, and stay with DH on his houseboat in London for the weeks I need to - this will be a little tricky with DD on a boat, but I am sure I can manage.

Soosy - did you say you were going for an FET in April? How does that work then - do they medicate you at all or just monitor your usual cycle?

soosy · 18/03/2008 21:42

Coggy Nice to see you how are you?

Swerve, It gets better, do you have a plan? I always think a plan helps.

Red Queen, I hope you are keeping v calm.

OAP How's the move going, we are on our way too, have accepted an offer and fingers crossed we have a mortgage valuation on Thurs. I hope all goes well as at the moment I think that may be the biggest hurdle.

Hope everyone else is ok, esp Malaket and EHM.

Missing you SS!

Still going for an FET in late April, if I can find some cash! Have pension and Nursery fees to pay first! Had a 28 day cycle last month. (have been pg twice in 28 day cycle) so hoping I can have another two, or one next month!

TheRedQueen · 18/03/2008 08:02

(((((((( Malaket, EHM ))))))))

So sorry to hear your news and thinking of you both.

xx

coggy · 17/03/2008 22:32

for you both.

swerve · 17/03/2008 19:55

Malaket, EHM, I'm so so sorry. It's so hard and so unfair! Why does it have to been this difficult? I've been really struggling through the last week and find myself crying at ridiculous times. I feel so much more devastated this time than I did previously. I think partly because my expectations were higher - I mean, they figured it out and got me pregnant for the very first time, ever! I made that very, very dangerous mistake of assuming it would be easier this time round. And I also have my dd, who is such a delight and so gorgeous and it make it so much more real what hasn't happened.

and there i go again. booohoo.

Hold on in there. I keep reminding myself this does work. For 2 friends this month. it will work, it will, it will it will.

soosy · 17/03/2008 19:28

malaket · 17/03/2008 19:04

EHM - Sorry to hear your news its not easy for any of us.

I started my period yesterday, devastated, cried lots yesterday and spent the whole day today on the sofa, just feel like its never going to happen.

We have to think about our next move as it will now be a full cycle as we have no frosties left.

Good luck to everyone else.

soosy · 17/03/2008 14:00

EHM So sorry to hear your news and I know what you mean about being not totally devastated but being more upset than you think you are going to be. Sending big hugs, take some time before making any decisions everything is probably v raw at the moment and you need to recover first.

Malaket thinking of you.

S x

EHM · 17/03/2008 13:52

Thanks NMM I was ok cried for about 30 secs after they told me the result. DH has gone back to work & I can't stop crying. dd is napping at the moment she is full of cold poor wee soul. I am more upset than I thought I would be, I am not devasted as we are very lucky to have. Its pretty shite! 6 attempts not sure at moment if we will have another go with the last 2 frosties.

nomoremagnolia · 17/03/2008 13:40

malaket Same as nmm & janhh said.{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

nomoremagnolia · 15/03/2008 15:37

(((malaket))) keeping my fingers crossed it was just too early though

JaneHH · 15/03/2008 11:32

Oh malaket, am crossing all my fingers for you that it's just too early to test. The whole not drinking thing is weird, isn't it - you don't want to "tempt fate" (as if embie is going to know you've got a glass of wine in your hand ) but a glass of wine is precisely what you need to chill and forget about it all for a mo... I hope you can let your evening with friends make you forget it all for a bit, wine or no wine.

Gute morgen RQ! oh actually it's afternoon for us already still in pj's... Chin up, when you finally get that BFP you will be soooo pleased you went through with it all. Go and do something nice today if you can How about some (decaffeinated) kaffee und küchen?

malaket · 15/03/2008 10:48

Hi all

Feeling numb, did the test this morning and it was negative, guess I will do another on Monday and then will have to arrange with the clinic for a blood test if I haven't started my period

Still clinging on to a little bit of hope like you do, I was so sure that it was working this time.

We have friends round this evening and really feel like I want to drink but am to scared too, guess I will just put on a brave face and solider through like always.

Just feel like screaming..............

soosy · 14/03/2008 20:44

Malaket, good luck with your test tomorrow, please let us know! and EHM with your bloods on Mon.

OAP good to see you I think it is wise to go for the good clinic as they are obviously booked up for a reason! Are you good on houseboats? If so then go for it! We are moving too, we have today accepted an offer on our house, DH still moaning it's not enough, but in this market I am rather staggered that we have had a reasonable offer quite so quickly! We are not going far so will be able to come back for treatment.

I think SS must be away, otherwise I would be sad to think she had abandoned us......

Red Queen it is all so bloody difficult, I swing from saying I am never doing this again to yes I have got to keep going on a daily basis. Your not strange, nobody would mind going through ivf if you knew it was 100% successful I think the real killer is the waiting and the failure. I hope everything goes well for you!

Have a lovely Friday night everyone, we are trying to avoid sports relief, which DH hates with a passion, so watching one of his terrible thrillers on DVD!

Onlyaphase · 14/03/2008 16:39

Likewise me Malaket - I'm obviously not keeping up with this thread properly - good luck for tomorrow and your test.
