Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

Bambi, well done! that's not bad at all. Age has something to do with how many eggs, but not everything. I know someone in her mid thirties who is lucky to get 3 eggs from the harvest. We're all sending those bubbles lots of positive thoughts and hoping they're dividing evenly and well. I hope you're relaxing and feeling ok after the anaesthetic.

nomoremagnolia · 08/04/2008 10:27

Not as good as last time but still good. Will you have 2 replaced? Will you freeze any others? I really ought to think to ask the clinic about how many to expect, I realise how much I don't know about all this now!
Best of luck tomorrow, positive thinking

bambilocket · 08/04/2008 10:19

Hi again, just had the call to say that one of the 10 was immature and only 5 have fertilsed. Of course you only need one but I'm a bit disappointed as it's not so good as last time (10 eggs, 7 fertilised) which produced dd. Still, it's just a roller coaster isn't it! The consultant said he was hoping to collect 10 - 12 eggs so I presume that's a good number (not sure if it's a good number given my age (40) or just a good number...got a feeling younger women produce a lot more)...so et will be tomorrow at 1pm!!!!!!!!!!!! got to get my morale back up again asap...wish I'd had the spare cash to do the acupuncture now! 2ww here I come, anyone at the same point?

nomoremagnolia · 08/04/2008 09:14

ooh I hope they all do well - 10 sounds good to me, is it a good number of eggs? I really don't know what to expect!

bambilocket · 07/04/2008 19:50

Hellow Nomore! Yes, 10 eggs - will find out tomorrow whether they've fertilised. How are you?

nomoremagnolia · 07/04/2008 15:33

Bambi Hope you're ok and they didn't cancel your treatment and you've got loads of eggs today.

nomoremagnolia · 05/04/2008 14:37

Hi Bambilocket I'm getting excited for you too - not long now! I have no idea about cysts expoloding - it doesn't sound good though. I am still checking on this thread every now and again but I'm currently waiting for day 21 to arrive so I can actually start the down-reg drugs and get this show on the road. I have a hypno CD for ttc which a friend sent me so I'm going to give that a try - I believe in positive mental attitude too and if it works/I like it then I'm going to get the IVF one too (it's got one CD for before EC/ET and one for after)

bambilocket · 03/04/2008 16:44

nomore! cool, fingers crossed 4 all of us!

I had scan agai this am. Cyst is now 5cm and other follicles coming up fast too. My dose of puregon has been dropped to 150 from 250 and probably going to bring my ec forward to next Monday (was Tuesday). I'm getting excited now. This time next week I will be pg (even if it's only a brief one). Am I being foolish by kidding myself that this means that my ancient and flabby old bod is doing better than expected and therefore IT'S GOING TO WORK!!!! My mum always expounds on the power of positive thinking!
PS do cysts explode?

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 14:05

see now I'm even more excited!! As is baby cakes...she has her fingers crossed for you too!!

nomoremagnolia · 03/04/2008 11:15

cheers makecakes
ps have started over on booties as I found a modification for newborn size (original pattern comes out far too large) but I promise I will get them done before babymakecakes arrives

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 09:34

Feeling excited for you nomore, & keeping everything crossed.

nomoremagnolia · 03/04/2008 08:29

CD1 here so we're booking in! Will mean we're actually doing EC/ET in the last week of May, which still seems ages away. I'm feeling excited and nervous all together.

swerve · 02/04/2008 05:40

soosy, your advice is spot on. by the way, did the bank give the right answer?

bambi, have you had another scan? how are you feeling?

soosy · 01/04/2008 19:25

Bambilocket, don't worry about the cyst, it may be just your lead follicle, a bit ahead of the game. I am always warned about OHSS, I think I had it the first ivf cycle I did, but very mildly. Just drink loads of water, and the real sign is if after treatment (about 5 days) you become breathless or your symptoms become worse and not better, I shouldn't worry about it too much, it is v rare to get seriously and is usually just v uncomfortable!

bambilocket · 01/04/2008 09:51

Thanks Swerve...hmm, the nurse did the scan and she was concerned and phoned the consultant...then msg came back to say continue with meds and return for follow-up scan on Thursday so presumably he thinks it's all ok. I feel fine so I'm not going to fret just yet...do you know anything about OHSS (presumably that would be the concern?... I had a look online yesterday and now realise that I almost certainly had OHSS with dd) . I just hope that they go ahead with a fresh transfer!

swerve · 31/03/2008 12:54

bambi, where the drs or scanner concerned? i've always had 1 or 2 whoppers on each stimulation.

bambilocket · 31/03/2008 12:42

Help! Scan shows one follicle has grown to 4cm cyst...does anyone know whether I should be worried about this? Thanks.

bambilocket · 31/03/2008 08:26

Swerve, thanks so much for thinking of me! I'm sure that you are sure that it's not implantation bleed aren't you?!

Soosy... Surely the point of going to the gym is to do whatever you like afterwards without feeling guilty...

You know I'm really quite a lot overweight, 5'3'' and 13 st! hate to admit it but it's true. For ages I was refused treatment on the grounds that I was too fat (I was quite a lot thinner then) and then I went and got pregnant at this weight. I am trying to make sure that my weight is at least pointing in a downwards direction as that is supposed to help but I'm SO SICK of feeling guilty all the time. My sis is what you might call A LOT bigger than the average bear and she has got pregnant naturally more or less first pop twice now.

Personally I'm hoping the spring upsurge in fertility will help me. Been doing the Puregon for 5 days now, starting to feel very bloated already and seem to have caught tonsillitis so not feeling very happy, esp with 1.5 yr old to care for (she's full of beans I'm glad to say). Got scan today to check progress of follicles, fingers crossed! I'll keep you ladies posted.

Red Queen, how are you?

soosy · 29/03/2008 22:36

Strange Swerve, Mind you I think I am heading for a 32 day cycle this month, usually 30, but we want 28! Still going ahead with FET in April. Maybe your body is justing getting back to normal April is a fine month to get pg! LOL about the gym, I joined for a whole year after DS born and didn't go once, what a waste of money that was!!!

Bambi and Red Queen hope everything going ok.

Sx

swerve · 29/03/2008 06:29

Bambi, how are things going? I hope you're feeling ok and those little ones are growing well.

Red Queen, what stage are you at?

Soosy, i hope the bank comes back with a calm and unpanicked response.

AF seems to have arrived unexpectedly (2 weeks early), which leaves me scratching my head about whether to go for fet on this cycle or wait.

Meanwhile I've become a complete gym bunny! totally out of character. I think i'm trying to rediscover some abs before (fingers crossed) destroying them again. If i stop & think about it, it seems completely pointless and ridiculous. although i offset the good of my session yesterday by coming home and settling into a nice glass of wine and a big bag of the cheapest, nastiest crisps i could find!

soosy · 28/03/2008 21:02

SS nice to hear from you, but sad not to hear from you! I quite understand you need to take time out. We hope to hear from you from time to time.

Bambi and Red Queen, things are coming up fast for you two.

Swerve glad to hear the exercise is working for you.

OAP My God moving house, i am never doing it again! The forms I have had to fill in and they almost want my inside leg measurements! Haven't heard about the mortgage valuation as have been away, will be calling on Monday. About you next cycle and delaying it, a friend of mine says there is never a right time to be pregnant, in terms of things happening in your life so you might as well get on with it! I will have a natural cycle FET as I have regular cycles, although I think this one may be 32 days (happens about once or twice a Year) otherwise 30 days, but both pg's have been on a 28day cycle so we'll see what happens next month! EIther way its about 2weeks before af and then.....

nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2008 19:21

SS take care of yourself

swerve · 26/03/2008 19:19

ss, we'll miss you. all the best and hope we'll bump into each some other time. take good care

bambilocket · 26/03/2008 16:39

Dear SS, If you're reading this I just wanted to send you lots of best wishes too. Bambi

SaveScrabulous · 25/03/2008 14:41

Hi again everyone. I've decided I'm going to bow out of posting regularly on here as I have no plans for further treatment for the foreseeable if at all.

However, firstly I want to say thank you all for your fabulous support over the last few months and secondly good luck to all of you with all this.

I will definitely keep the thread on watch and pop back occasionally to catch up and say hi!

And maybe now I'm going, the luck of this thread will turn!!
