First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@TinyDancer91

Does anyone have any distraction techniques to help get them through the 2 week wait? Any hobbies that suddenly become very active?
Only eating chocolate apparently 🤣🤣 longest 2 weeks of my life but I gave in and tested yesterday but BFN.

AF due tomorrow and feeling very much like she will arrive on time so not holding out much hope for this month!

Cookiedough123 · 06/01/2022 19:58

@CrazyCatLady95 I have been looking into this and apparently this generally only happens if you have sex again after you have ejaculated, as its the sperm left over in the tubes. Thats what Dr Google told me anyway 😂 but yes I have my fingers crossed for the end of this month 🤞🤞

CrazyCatLady95 · 06/01/2022 19:50

@Cookiedough123

I'd like to join in. I've been off my pill over 6 months now. I've been ready to try but my boyfriend has still been pulling out as he wanted to start in 2022. The pull out method has clearly been working 😂😤. Whilst I've been off my pill I have been tracking on two apps, premom and FF app. They both seem really accurate as obviously CM tells you where abouts in your cycle you are too. Apparently we are taking a relaxed approach and he is just going to stop pulling out but I'm going to carry on tracking and encourage the baby dance on ovulation days haha! AF is due the 14th of this month so then we will be good to go unless the pull out method has worked this month which is unlikely!

Cant decide whether to start tracking ovulation each month from after AF. I'll be honest I have my heart set on BFP straight away even though I know its so unlikely. Just with me being off the pill so long and be knowing my cycles so well in my head I feel like well why wouldn't it work....!

Welcome! I think if you have been off your pill for this long and you know your cycles very well/haven't been tracking them then you could just rely on your app to tell you whereabouts you ovulate. I can imagine that will be much less stressful. I have been tracking but only because this is only the second cycle off the implant and I have no idea what my cycles are like currently! Also you never know, 1 in 4 people will get pregnant using withdrawal method!

@littlecontis

Usually my period is very regular and I'm supposed to have AF today but it's still not here 😟
And I'm definitely not pregnant!!

Hi @HMFx, thank you! Ooh we are very close on our journeys then! Good luck 🤞🏻

HMFx · 06/01/2022 11:46

Exciting and welcome @SMD16 ! I'm similar position to you CD8 and first cycle TTC though I've started with OPKS today properly.

@TinyDancer91 I can't really answer as not been in the TWW yet but I've found I have needed to distract myself from obsessing about TTC anyway and I try and play games on my phone, play cards with my husband or do my family tree (very niche I know lol) I have also been on Pinterest a lot but this always ends up in baby stuff anyway Grin

I'll be needing these tips in a couple of weeks so excited to hear what others say!! X

SMD16 · 06/01/2022 11:24

Hey! This is so exciting to read so many people on the same journey!
I’m CD5 after coming off the pill, AF has just finished. Ovulation tests coming today and this will be my 1st full cycle of TTC it’s all very exciting at the beginning isn’t it! Wishing everyone luck x

@S0lipsism

Haha 3 months until you get all clear is going to draaag! I'm sure people will guess as soon as I turn down a G&T.

We travel abroad for work quite a bit so I'm hoping to get knocked up before my husband is due in Kenya & Mongolia this summer or I'm going to be following him around the world like a sperm beggar 🙈

Thanks for making me laugh after a long day.. sperm beggar 😂
PointyMcguire · 05/01/2022 12:30

Thanks @TinyDancer91! I really hope so too! Grin

TinyDancer91 · 05/01/2022 12:27

@CornishSeaSwim yes, I find it a bit lonely too, which why I started this thread off as I find just putting my thoughts out there and not keeping them stuck in my own head really helps.

Hi @WildePanda, welcome to our safe space!

I didn't have the coil so can't comment unfortunately, but keep us updated on your progress.

@PointyMcguire

Morning all, so after the squinter at 11 dpo, it’s now 13 dpo and there’s a definite second line!

Still not truly convinced though as I also tested with my CB digital monitor from the same urine and that said not pregnant Confused I’ll retest Friday as that’s when the monitor says AF should arrive.

This is so exciting!! Really hoping that line keeps getting darker Grin

@CornishSeaSwim thank you!! And yes, absolutely! I wanted to text my best friend this morning but DH reined me in. Already stressing about the impact on work too, I’ve got a couple of really exciting projects kicking off this spring and now I’m going to have to plan whilst knowing I won’t be around to execute everything 😕

S0lipsism · 05/01/2022 10:13
@PointyMcguire that's exciting! Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. I was on Microgynon, so a different one. I am a healthy weight, although may try and concentrate on what I'm eating a bit more now Christmas is out of the way! I am also taking pregnacare at the advice of my Dr alongside other prescribed doses of iron and B12 due to having anaemia.

So nice to have somewhere to share all this. Does anyone else find it a bit lonely and daunting with it being the first time and not telling anyone?!
Yes! So weird not being able to tell people so as not to add any pressure. I think I'll accidentally blab at some point as I always let slip peoples presents at Xmas 🤣
Also having to wait 2-3 months for the folic acid build up seems to be taking forever!

Good luck friend!

CornishSeaSwim · 05/01/2022 10:11

I should say its the pregnacare pre conception vitamins. I have also heard the seven seas ones are good if anyone is thinking of trying them!

Hi everyone! So happy to have stumbled across this group! Myself 31 and partner 30 are in our first month ttc, had my mirena out 15th Dec, not sure if it was a visit from AF on 18th as firstbtime she's been in 11 years if so. Don't know my cycle yet as haven't had one in so long that we guessed the date of ovulation. I uses ovulation sticks that definitely showed faint lines for a few days but have now gone back to showing nothing. Even so my hopes are still up even though there is very little chance this could be the time, anyone else had a coil removed before ttc?
