Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

Congratulations to those testing positive, great news :)

sbardy18 · 08/01/2022 12:58

Hey ladies,

Not trying currently but I want to share a few things that helped. Folic acid and multi vits from the start. If you've had any Covid jab recently or even Covid your period will probably be late anyway. It's hard not to get obsessive with testing, or at least I know I did.

I bought the cheap testing strips from Amazon and clear blue ovulation monitor to help, also used a thermometer to check my temperature daily! Sadly I suffered from a miscarriage during my first pregnancy so it made me even more obsessive and thought we had missed the ovulation period the second time trying but to our surprise it was a successful pregnancy!

Good luck to you all!

@Sassy144

I can see it! Grin

Sassy144 · 08/01/2022 12:51

Am I seeing things?! Faint, but clearer in person.

Ah congrats! That's such good news and hoping you've got a sticky bean!
Also really helpful to hear about the symptoms and how much of the deed should/ might be helpful to be done Wink - I haven't read too much on it but wondered if the best time was a few days pre ovulation so thought to try every other day in those few days, but not sure it's enough!

Such good news for you, really happy for you!

TinyDancer91 · 08/01/2022 12:34

@ECA142 yay! That's awesome! Come on sticky bean!!

@HMFx @WildePanda thank you so much. It still hasn't really sunk in I think because I was trying to make sure I was prepared for the disappointment. I just stared at it for ages!
@rcal1988 my first symptom was gas! Haha then I noticed I was more tired than usual. I went to my usual PT session on Thursday and felt tired during that and usually I'm so pumped up with the exercise I don't feel tired till I get home. Needless to say I think that was my last PT session for a while. I will be switching to walking on the treadmill and spin bike now. The last and most obvious symptom for me was my nipples! They are bigger, darker and want to stand to attention all the time haha. I know it's cold but seriously I could see them through my bra, t-shirt and fleece this week! I had the usual spots, slight cramps and sore boobs of PMS so wasn't completely convinced but my SO didn't sleep a wink last night as he is also rather excited about this 2ww and so I did the test for him more than me I think. I'm going to do another early test Monday and then the digital on the day after AF should have arrived.

Hold on in there ladies. Oh and also me and my fiancé had sex alot! Like literally daily from the day my period finished till a couple of days after ovulation. This was our first cycle and we were determined to give it our best shot. It seems to have worked! Assuming I've found a sticky bean of course. Wink

rcal1988 · 08/01/2022 11:23

@ECA142 wow congrats!! Can definitely see that line. Was that the only symptom you had?

WildePanda · 08/01/2022 11:15

@ECA142 ahhh I see it! Are you going to test again tomorrow? So exciting!

HMFx · 08/01/2022 11:11

I can see it too @ECA142 how exciting!

ECA142 · 08/01/2022 10:52

I caved and tested this morning due to SO not sleeping last night and he wanted to know. The 2ww has been as hard for him as me. I can see a line! 11dpo and due AF on the 11th. Biggest symptom was my nipples hahaha

Rpsches917 · 08/01/2022 08:10

Tested this morning (AF due yesterday) but still BFN Sad

cavmum27 · 07/01/2022 23:08

Hey!

New to Mumsnet ... TTC and 7DPO. AF due in 7 days. Been off contraception well over a year and been using condoms.

My boobs always get sore and swollen pre AF and they have started to hurt like usual but I had a weird stinging sensation earlier that I hadn't had before. So I'm thinking AF is on the way but then others have said their boobs swell within days and they knew it was pregnancy so who knows Grin

I've gone from not being too fussed about baby making to finding this two week wait a bit torturous. Lots of my friends have been super lucky and conceived on the first or second go ... feeling anxious we may not be so lucky but really want to keep anxiety/stress at bay.

Anyway, I'm glad I've found this space. Sending positive vibes (and hopefully tests!) to everyone x

TinyDancer91 · 07/01/2022 22:01

@Ft23 - oh not so sorry about your cat! sending baby dust to you. I'm still getting to grips with the acronyms too 😂 My Flo and Premom apps differ slightly too, but the Premom app is using data from ovulation tests, so assuming this is more accurate.

@Zubi - eek, not the dreaded Corona!! Hoping it doesn't affect things for you, but please keep us updated!

@ECA142 - Yay for Friday!! Although for me it starts the busiest few days of the week 😂. I want to say go for it and test now, but my sensible head wants to say no, wait until 11th so you don't get a possible false reading.... I'm no help here I'm afraid! I'm the queen of indecision 👸🏻😂

Evening all. Just had a catch up on the thread as been really busy since going back to work which tbh has been good to keep me going through my first 2ww. I made it to Friday yay! I'm 10dpo and due AF on 11th. I'm soooooo tempted to test in the morning but I'm so scared it'll be negative. Shall I, or shall I wait?

Work has definitely been keeping me preoccupied this week but I have been noticeably more tired but I keep thinking I can feel the usual AF symptoms so I think I may be out in my first one. This weekend is going to be hard 😭

Zubi · 07/01/2022 20:03

I tested positive for covid today, worried this is going to have some effect. I'm 5DPO and AF due 16th so we will see what happens, gutted!

Ft23 · 07/01/2022 19:21

Hi, hoping it's OK to join too - apologies i don't know what 99% of the acronyms mean!

My hubby and I (30 & 31) are in our first month of TTC, came off the pill in Sept. Had a period in Nov, and Dec but the Dec cycle was 36 days so I'm not entirely sure when ovulation is. Ive got the Glow and Flo apps which either day 8th or 10th so hoping now is a good time to get to it? Any one else's apps tell them different things?

My very dear pet cat passed away this week though so feeling very teary and also like I'm missing something to love - hoping extra hard for a little one, and sending baby dust to you all! x

rcal1988 · 07/01/2022 15:24

@WildePanda I’m going to try and hold out until AF is due unless I have loads of symptoms as I’m dreading the disappointment if it is a BFN!

WildePanda · 07/01/2022 15:10

@rcal1988 I'm not even on my TWW yet and I'm already climbing the walls! Do you think you will test early?

rcal1988 · 07/01/2022 14:50

Anyone else struggling with how slow the TWW is?! It’s like time has stopped! Only on 4DPO so know symptoms would be very unlikely so early but any little thing I keep thinking could this be it…torturing myself haha! Hope you are all well and wishing baby dust to everyone Smile

Sassy144 · 07/01/2022 14:00

@kitkat89 it's hard to pinpoint exactly when ovulation happened unless you track your temperatures, but I would guess yours would have been around CD36? I'm no expert though.

@TinyDancer91 I'm trying to hold out until Sunday to test, that's when af is predicted. I've had mild cramps and bloating, but not sure if that's just af on its way..

kitkat89 · 07/01/2022 13:38

Hi all! I'm hoping to get some help with my ovulation date! I got a peak on CD34 (1.89) so we DTD that night. The next day I had a huge surge and got my actual peak of 2.32 on CD35. We didn't do anything that day but DTD again on CD36 the day after the peak.

What day would I have ovulated on? CD35 or CD36? The app says 36 so I'm 9DPO today but not sure if the huge surge was me catching my ovulation and the high (originally peak) that I got on CD34 was the day before I ovulated? Do you take the first peak or keep going until you get another one and then that's the day before you ovulate? It's cycle #1 so I'm not sure how it all works!

TinyDancer91 · 07/01/2022 13:16

@WildePanda I have 11 days left 😂 I'm so impatient though, just want answers now!!

Any updates from any of our friends on here? Anyone any closer in their TTC journey? Any BFPs?

@WildePanda that's definitely a strong positive!

After coming off Microgynon in late November I finally have my first AF/ withdrawal bleed- whichever it is. So relieved as it was over 5 weeks. Thanks to everyone here sharing that it also took a while for them, as it eased my worries. I am excited now to start recording dates and continuing TTC this month- I think despite trying last month I knew it wasn't very likely. In the meantime dealing with stomach ache and eating lots of cookies Grin

WildePanda · 07/01/2022 12:22

@TinyDancer91 oh its all a bit exciting!
