First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

Hey everyone, so nice to see everyone's BFPs! I'm 8DPO, 9DPO tomorrow and the urge to test is real. However, AF is due Thursday so I know I should wait. I only have cheap tests so the likelihood of getting a bfn is high especially this early. Ahhhh.

Just today I've started having sensitive nipples, lower back pain (not usual for me) and some very mild cramping. When you write them down they seem so obviously related to implantation, but I also currently have covid (mild so far, thankfully) and who knows what's going on inside my body 🤔 I'm isolating at home and the tests are sitting there staring at me. Is anyone else testing in the next couple of days?? @Zubi you seem to be close to me in DPO, how long do you think you'll hold on for? 😁

Zubi · 09/01/2022 17:35

So excited for everyone who's tested positive!!

I'm 7DPO today and just wish I could take a test. Started with breast/nipple tenderness yesterday and today and trying not to read into it.

CatLady1994 · 09/01/2022 15:53

Hi everyone Smile

I'd love to join the chat! Me and DH (both 27) are TTC #1. I'm currently on CD14 - ovulation predicted tomorrow, so DTD as much as we can atm!!

This is my first cycle of properly TTC but been tracking ovulation etc for a couple of months in prep. Good luck to us all!! Star

WildePanda · 09/01/2022 15:10

I am officially on DPO 1 of my 1st cycle! The countdown begin 🤪

Mariabombia · 09/01/2022 15:08

Hi girls,

Can I join this thread :) 31 years old, TTC #1 CD4 of cycle 4.

How's everyone's TTC journeys going so far? I've been finding been finding it all very emotional, need some tips on how to relax!!

Fingers crossed for a BFP for all of us this year xx

SMD16 · 09/01/2022 14:29

@rcal1988 thank you, I bet you it’s the cup of tea I had! I’d held for about 3 hours though. Will try again this evening.

rcal1988 · 09/01/2022 14:22

@SMD16 I used them for the first time properly this month and I found they worked really well. I did 2 every day (first thing and also early evening) but I think you have to hold your pee for about 4 hours before you do it and also limit liquid intake so it doesn’t dilute it. Maybe you’ve already been trying that though. Some days I had the faintest line for LH and others were stronger. My LH surge was really clear after about 6 days of testing. Felt like I would never get it but keep going and fingers crossed you will🙂

SMD16 · 09/01/2022 14:03

Congratulations @BlueSky57!!

I’ve been doing the ovulation tests for a few days but every one I’ve done today only has a control line, not even the faintest line. Has anyone had this?

BlueSky57 · 09/01/2022 13:07

Thank you ladies! I am so shocked. I have had lower back pain from expected ovulation date but nothing else at all so didn’t think much of it. I have no idea what to do now though. I guess I’ll leave it maybe a fortnight then test again? Never had a BFP before so am clueless, don’t even know how to do the big reveal to DH when he gets home from work!

MrsG2021 · 09/01/2022 13:00

Aww! Congratulations @BlueSky57!

HMFx · 09/01/2022 12:58

Congratulations @BlueSky57!

BlueSky57 · 09/01/2022 12:18

Thanks @WildePanda! I haven’t told anyone else yet, not even DH.

After days of BFNs & not even a tiny hint of a line, I had given up hope so this is a bit of a surprise now as I was waiting patiently for AF.

WildePanda · 09/01/2022 12:15

@BlueSky57 oh how lovely 😍

BlueSky57 · 09/01/2022 12:13

Hi guys, after worrying about AF being 5 days late, I got my explanation just now… obviously very early days so trying to be calm but also shaking!

Hi, I’m new here and also looking for a group of like-minded ladies. We have been talking for a long time about trying for a child and decided this year was the year to go for it. It’s lovely reading all your stories so far.

Lena18 · 09/01/2022 11:00

Hi all joining in the conversation :)

We tried pre covid and nothing really happened so we looked into things and I found out I had pcos and hubby had low motility. Although hubby has a dd 14 from previous marriage.

We are shelved things for a while and put our energy into getting married last year. Now we're married we're back to trying properly from September.

I am 38 size 16 to 18 so know I losing weight will help but not as easy with pcos. Hubby is 40 and has active job so reasonably fit. I have us both on pre conceive vitamins.. multi vitamin .. and cutting down on alcohol. I am also going to a holistic therapist once a morning or a fertility focused massage treatment. We are also testing ovulation with the cb sticks.

Is there anything else I can or should do would welcome any suggestions thanks so much .. good luck all x

TinyDancer91 · 08/01/2022 21:19

@Sassy144

Am I seeing things?! Faint, but clearer in person.
I see it! And usually I don't when I've seen them in other threads!

Fingers crossed for you. Can't wait for an update! 😃

Congratulations @ECA142 and @Sassy144 ! How exciting!

I’m having an odd cycle which I’m putting down to having my booster. Clue predicted that I would ovulate on the 2nd and I thought I had as I had some egg-white CM and what I thought was a little bit of ovulation pain (I usually get a twinge on one side and bloating). However, I then continued to have egg-white CM (sorry if tmi!) until yesterday (CD 22) accompanied with more light ovulation pain on Thursday night. We’ve DTD most nights this week so I might be in with a chance as it’s possible that I ovulated later than I expected. On the other hand, it could just be a weird cycle! Who knows! I think I’m into the TWW now anyway.
Hope you’re all well! Did the booster do anything weird to your cycles?

GAAJ04 · 08/01/2022 19:13

Hiya!
I'm also TTC for the 1st time, me and my husband are about 6 months in, although we had to break for a month due to a change in medication for me (I have high blood pressure). Pretty much everyone I'm close to knows we are trying, I'm under a specialist for my BP so it's been a stressful time and I needed my friend and family to talk to :)
I'm still trying to get used to the lingo and abbreviated words haha takes me ages to read these things sometimes!
I'm 8 days away from my next due period so it's a waiting game now. Not feeling possible this month!
Hope everyone is ok x

S0lipsism · 08/01/2022 17:36

@cavmum27

Hey!

New to Mumsnet ... TTC and 7DPO. AF due in 7 days. Been off contraception well over a year and been using condoms.

My boobs always get sore and swollen pre AF and they have started to hurt like usual but I had a weird stinging sensation earlier that I hadn't had before. So I'm thinking AF is on the way but then others have said their boobs swell within days and they knew it was pregnancy so who knows Grin

I've gone from not being too fussed about baby making to finding this two week wait a bit torturous. Lots of my friends have been super lucky and conceived on the first or second go ... feeling anxious we may not be so lucky but really want to keep anxiety/stress at bay.

Anyway, I'm glad I've found this space. Sending positive vibes (and hopefully tests!) to everyone x

Welcome! Haha same- literally the day we decided to TTC I suddenly wanted the 2months wait for folic acid build up to hurry as suddenly became obsessed with all things baby. Strange your feelings can change so fast. Good luck with it, fingers crossed for you x
CrazyCatLady95 · 08/01/2022 16:35

I'm 5DPO and have literally no symptoms, I dunno if this is because I've been focussing on it less. Last month I was convinced I was pregnant, severe bloating and pulling sensations, decreased appetite and nausea - BFN last month however this was my first cycle after coming off implant. I'm trying this month to just go with the flow, not think about it too much and just see if AF comes. I am back at work now so I think that's helping. I do hope this month is the one! If not will be onto cycle #3! 😭🤞🏼🤞🏼

rcal1988 · 08/01/2022 15:33

@ECA142 thanks so much for all that info. Very interesting! When did your symptoms start? I wouldn’t say I have any symptoms yet really which makes me think this is not our month but then again I’m only 5DPO! 😂 just so impatient!
