First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

I’ve started going down the gp route. Had my implant out in feb and while I’ve had some months of no proper cycles, I’ve ovulated a few times and we’ve dtd a number of times at the right time… with not even a snifter. Now I’m having mid cycle bleeding so I get a blood test and a referral to a fertility centre for internal ultrasound. Not feeling great about any of it, I’ll be honest.

Plantymcplant · 03/11/2022 22:48

I'm just starting cycle 5. This one hurt. Went out to buy a test as I was feeling optimistic, got home with it and AF had started

mgwyegve · 03/11/2022 10:29

Hey all!

how is everyone getting on?
I am now onto cycle 11… had some bloods done this week and had the results back yesterday. Everything is in the normal range but my GP has said by TSH level is slightly raised which they wouldn’t usually be concerned about but as I’m TTC they’d like it at the low end of normal… another blood test in 2 months to see if it settles.

trying to put TTC to the back of my mind but my god it is hard!

baby dust to everyone ✨

Lovely to see all these wonderful BFP!!

Ovulated Monday - had the fellas up there all ready for it due to tests and surges on LH. Now I wait...

This is gonna be a long two weeks.

RainyDaysByTheFire · 02/11/2022 12:06

That's wonderful news, congratulations 💕

MendaciousMabel · 31/10/2022 15:06

@RainyDaysByTheFire i tested again today and still positive! Just about to contact my GP now to let them know

RainyDaysByTheFire · 31/10/2022 14:59

@MendaciousMabel did your positive tests stick around? Have you done another since?

I've not managed to confirm ovulation this cycle yet, CD 26 today but my cycles are often 45+ days long so hoping for a hint of a positive on a LH test this evening!

Plantymcplant · 28/10/2022 07:51

Hi everyone. Just catching up on the thread after some time off. I'm in the tww cycle 4. Finding this one tough! Hope everyone else is doing ok

MendaciousMabel · 27/10/2022 09:46

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum @RedLipstick1 I can understand the added pressure you must be feeling. It is always possible that stress has impacted your cycle, fingers crossed you see your much wanted BFP soon Flowers

I am 13dpo today and had another positive this morning, I want so much to be excited but I feel like I can't get my hopes up. This is my first pregnancy so I just have no idea what to expect. I feel like I'm just waiting for the rug to be pulled from under me...

RedLipstick1 · 26/10/2022 23:41

Hi Everyone

I hope you don't mind if I join this chat, I have been reading through and it's been lovely seeing those get their BFPs. It's also reassuring that we are not on our own during this TTC journey.

I am 29 and husband is 30. I came off contraception in April and cycle returned to normal in June.
Since then we have been "seeing how it goes", my husband has a more laid back approach whereas I am the control freak and unfortunately this is something that's out of my control!
This approach was put on hold a couple months back, after finding out my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Understandably stress took over and TTC was put on the back burner.

We have recently started trying properly, however I feel the stress isn't helping. Sorry to sound morbid but I have in the back of my mind that I would love nothing more than to give my mother a grandchild, which of course is putting pressure and more stress on me!

My cycles have been really regularly around 28/29 days since coming off contraception.
I am now a day or so late, and have been getting BFNs so far...

Best wishes to you all and look forward to hearing your stories.

mgwyegve · 24/10/2022 13:02

Just an update… my little glimmer of hope last week must have just been an evap. AF is here and onto cycle 11 we go.
so disappointed.

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 13:32

@TinyDancer91 sorry to hear that you’re feeling that way. I hope you get some answers soon and they can get the ball rolling for you if needs be.

I did a clear blue which was 100% negative. I had drank a few cuppas this morning before testing though so I think I’ll try again tomorrow morning… if I can wait that long. I think it’s probably just an evap line after reading some of the mom med reviews ☹️

thecoconutcat · 21/10/2022 12:56

@TinyDancer91 sounds stressful...although beware with home testing of sperm...they can be inaccurate if you have ejaculated in any way recently prior to the test!

BeeLieve86 · 21/10/2022 12:11

@TinyDancer91

so sorry to hear. Is your partner taking any supplements? I don’t know my partners sperm count but I’ve got him taking coQ10 and DHA which is supposed to help with that.

sending you a big hug xxx

TinyDancer91 · 21/10/2022 11:51

@Sunshinescotter congrats!! So lovely to see some good news on here!

@mgwyegve fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Not such positive news from me I'm afraid. We are facing the strong possibility that OH has low sperm count - we did an at home test a few days ago. However, he won't go to the dr until after Xmas, so I feel a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment. I'm just desperate for answers. Feeling like I've lost my mojo as well. Lost the motivation to do OPKs so I've abandoned that this cycle.

Wanting something so badly and seeing absolutely zero progress is just so hard.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Fingers crossed for you all and can't wait to see your BFPs coming through 💕

@Livlaughloathe thank you! I think I’m around 9 dpo but I haven’t been religiously testing this month as it was all driving me a bit mad!! I’ve just sent to OH out to get another test so will keep you posted! I don’t want to get my hopes up, it could be an evap but I’ve never had an evap with these tests before… so fingers crossed!! 🤞

Livlaughloathe · 21/10/2022 11:27

@Sunshinescotter congratulations! ✨

@mgwyegve i think I can see the line too! Keeping everything crossed for you! How many dpo do you think you are? And have you tested again today?🤞🏼✨

Olegia · 21/10/2022 10:15

Hey lovely ladies, may I join?
I've stopped the pill in July and had my first period at the end of September. I definitely ovulated yesterday, and we DTD yesterday, the day before, and Sunday.
It's our first time trying (I'm 26 and a half, my partner just turned 27).

@mgwyegve I think I can see a very faint line too!

mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 09:28

I don’t know if I’ve totally lost the plot now but I just got yesterdays test out of the bin… my partner is not convinced he can see anything but I’m certain there’s the tiniest faint line?!?

First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...
mgwyegve · 21/10/2022 09:15

I am currently on CD27, cycles are usually 24-26 days and I am ALWAYS spotting by cd 24 if not earlier… no sign of any spotting or AF currently… I think ovulated later this cycle so I don’t want to get my hopes up. No AF or PG symptoms.. just hoping AF stays away! I have been testing pretty much every day for the last few days (can’t help myself) and all BFN. I’m sure AF will arrive in the next couple of days and we’ll be moving onto cycle 11 but still, will be keeping everything crossed 🤞 😬

how is everyone else doing? X

mgwyegve · 20/10/2022 07:20

What brilliant news @Sunshinescotter !! Congratulations 💕

thecoconutcat · 19/10/2022 22:28

Congratulations @Sunshinescotter

Sunshinescotter · 19/10/2022 18:58

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread for a while. Anyway I have been TTC since January and got my first ever BFP today. Still hasn't sunk in. I had an appointment booked next week with my Doctor who was planning on going through my blood test results and referring me to a fertility clinic. I just wanted to share this news with you as I hope it brings some hope to you if you have been TTC for a while. Sometimes it just takes a little while it seems! I hope you all get your BFPs soon x

MrsJA85 · 16/10/2022 01:57

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for letting me join. I'm Jen, 37 years old and a Brit living in Sydney.

My OH and I have been undecided about having kids for quite a few years now but have decided that, as we are both 37, time is not on our side. The decision to TTC is a very scary one. We both enjoy our independence but, at the same time, do not want to have regrets in the future.

Any tips to help us or things to use? I have the clear blue OPK and I have started taking folic acid. I also have an app on my phone to track my cycle.

What are people's opinions on other products such as thermometers, saliva tests etc? I want to give myself the best chance I can but not waste money in things that don't work!

Thanks ladies
Spreading baby dust to you all!

CheeryCupcake · 15/10/2022 22:31

Several days now of constant nausea, not the best fun I've ever had - BFN yesterday but still only 7/8 dpo today and cramping so who knows. Feeling a bit sorry for myself this evening, hormones all over the place and strong waves of fatigue every now and then. If I'm not pregnant then this is definitely the worst PMS I have ever had in my life!
