First timers, TTC. Safe space for brain dumps...

Hi everyone!

This thread may or may not contain questions, I've mainly started it to be my brain dump safe space but in an excited way, not a bad way...

Me (30) and my SO (34) have decided to take the leap and start TTC! We have both wanted children for a while but just knew the timing wasn't right for either of us until now. For me, any time I see a baby or even baby clothes recently my heart aches for it to be my turn. I've never really had that strong feeling before.

The reason behind this 'safe space' is that we have agreed not to tell anyone we are TTC. We just want to avoid any pressure or disappointment if things don't go to plan, etc.

For context, I am the youngest of 5, the only girl the only one of my siblings without children.
SO is the oldest of 2, his brother has a child who lives with BM away from here so isn't really seen much by grandparents.

Both families are great and would only want the best for us but I personally don't want to feel any sort or pressure at all (intended or not) from either side.

So, we start our journey, we are on cycle 1 SWI, not expecting anything to happen this cycle and trying not to turn in to a crazy lady about TTC Smile

If anyone else needs a brain dump safe space, feel free to join me here Smilex

@Plantymcplant I've had the day 21 bloods done do far and went through GP. My GP was fab and had my bloods done straight away.

Trying to get another appointment with them now with my OH though, which is proving difficult as they are currently only taking emergency appointments!

Was hoping to get my day 3 bloods done this cycle but we've missed that boat now, so on to cycle 14 we go.

We really thought the last one was our time, as I ended up having a 33 day cycle for the first time ever. I usually have 27/28 day cycles, have had a couple of 31 day cycles in the summer so this one really took us by surprise. OH kept asking every day from about day 25 'have you come one yet?' and he got more and more excited every time I answered no. I did test a few times with the easy@home hcg strips and got BFNs every time so don't even think this one was a chemical. (didn't tell OH that was so wanted them to be wrong).

Hope everyone is doing OK. Praying & wishing for BFPs all round this year.

New Year, new thread coming up. will post the link to the new thread below in a sec for anyone who wants to join me there

Started cycle 7 yesterday. For anyone who has had blood tests did you go via the gp? How long does it take to get them?

RainyDaysByTheFire · 04/01/2023 10:07

Hey, I think we are all feeling the same. Christmas was hard, I also had some close friends announce and as happy as I am for them, it still makes me bawl my eyes out at the injustice!

AF arrived on the 23rd Dec and I had bloods done by the GP. They have all come back as normal, but my ultrasound said enlarged ovaries with potential cysts so going in next week to discuss.

Would also join a new thread. Fingers crossed 2023 is our year ladies 💞

Plantymcplant · 30/12/2022 20:25

Hello! Just finishing up cycle 6. Looks likely another bfn for me. I found christmas hard, a couple of friends did their announcements on social media on Christmas Day. I would join you on the new thread. Here's hoping 2023 goes better than 2022

LucyLoopyLu · 27/12/2022 21:14

Hi @TinyDancer91, this thread has gone a bit quiet but I think lots of people are busy at this time of year. I felt exactly the same about this Christmas as keep thinking about how hopeful and happy I was this time last year about finally starting TTC, hoping / assuming I would be pregnant by now.

I'm 11dpo on cycle 9 so still a bit behind you but it's very hard. I think Jan/Feb may be a little easier. I expext cycles 12 and 13 might be harder again. I now feel 99% of the time like it will not happen for us and 1% of the time feel a really painful hope and start to imagine it working out before going back to carefully not getting my hopes up.

Will definitely be joining the new thread if you make one. All the best and hope you have had some happy times this Christmas

TinyDancer91 · 24/12/2022 11:12

Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't been active on here for a while. Been finding it really hard to find the motivation to come on here and update everyone with each new BFN.

Hope you are all doing well and that was have had some BFPs this year. Wishing extra hard for BFPs for those of us that haven't for next year!

I'm really not looking forward to Xmas this year as I naively thought it would be our first one as a family of 3 (even if #3 was still a bump).

Update in our TTC journey - we are now on cycle 13, AF due around New Year's Day. If she makes an appearance then OH has agreed that we will start the ball rolling with the GP.

I will start a new thread in the new year for anyone wanting to join and will link it below when I have done as this thread is getting very long!

Wishing you all a happy Xmas & new year and for BFPs all round 💕

Cycle 9, day 10. Trying so hard to remain stress free but it's not easy. Life is stressful and TTC is miserable!

Also hope all that about keeping your feet warm is bs because I'm always cold but our house is particularly baltic at the moment.

TinyDancer91 · 12/12/2022 02:33

Congrats @mgwyegve !!

We are now on cycle #13, day 11. Still nothing. Not convinced it will ever happen for us...

Babydust99 · 11/12/2022 01:26

@mgwyegve congratulations 😊

I'm cycle 7 now cd 4 no luck yet. How's everyone else doing?

LucyLoopyLu · 10/12/2022 19:27

@mgwyegve I think given you've got the strip tests and the positive on another digital you can be confident it's positive! Either a dodgy test or slightly more HCG in your second wee sample and it put you just above the threshold for the test.

Congrats!

How is everyone else getting on?

ChloeN · 10/12/2022 07:45

@mgwyegve must of been a dodgy test or something then! Glad you got your positive digital ☺️

mgwyegve · 10/12/2022 07:37

I did another shortly after which showed ‘pregnant 1-2’ !! I’m a little confused but I’m thinking with all the positive strip tests I’m probably pregnant?! Can’t quite believe it x

ChloeN · 10/12/2022 07:22

@mgwyegve I think the clearblue needs to be 10 hcg to come up positive so you could just be under that?xx

mgwyegve · 10/12/2022 06:34

So… I couldn’t sleep and was up waiting outside Tesco at 6am this morning 😂 I picked up clear blue digital with weeks indicator, got home, tested and ‘not pregnant’ I’m super confused as the mommed tests are still giving me faint lines! I’m CD 24 today, do you think it’s possible that it’s still too early for the clear blue? 😕

BeeLieve86 · 09/12/2022 23:11

Congrats! I definitely think you’re pregnant looking at those lines 😍

mgwyegve · 09/12/2022 21:12

Ah thank you! I do hope it’s good news finally 😬 will update tomorrow once I’ve tested again!! Keeping everything crossed!

LucyLoopyLu · 09/12/2022 20:41

@mgwyegve I can see faint lines on bottom two and a clear line on the top one! Definitely think that's a BFP and the bleeding implantation. Congrats

Thought this thread was dying off! Thanks for bringing it back with some good news

ChloeN · 09/12/2022 20:26

@mgwyegve I can see lines on all of them☺️ could definitely be implantation!

mgwyegve · 09/12/2022 20:03

Hi everyone!

how is everyone getting on?

I’m currently cycle 11 and have had a bit of a weird experience…. My cycles are usually 25-28 days and very regular. I started bleeding on Wednesday (cd 21) this wasn’t like usual period bleeding and only lasted about an hour and then completely stopped. I tested this morning and got 2 lines. I’ve been testing throughout the day and I’m convinced I can still see a very faint positive?!

what do you think?

do you think the bleeding might have been implantation or something?

I’ve felt generally rubbish today, really tired and had a terrible headache this afternoon to the point that I needed to lie down. I don’t usually suffer with headaches…

planning to test again first thing tomorrow 😬

Aww do you get ovulation pains or anything? I'm 1 dpo today

Plantymcplant · 23/11/2022 13:09

Babydust99 · 22/11/2022 20:42

@Plantymcplant no advice re bbt unfortunately but I'm on cycle 6 now, severe o pains today and peak yesterday so pretty sure I ovulated today. Hopefully this is our month 🤞which cycle are you on?

I'm on cycle 5. Possible around 1 week after ovulation based on counting but no lh peak or normal temps this cycle to check.

Plantymcplant · 22/11/2022 17:38

Does anyone who does bbt ever has a really weird month where the temps are all over the place? Does this mean I didn't ovulate? If you don't ovulate when does your period come or does it still follow the normal number of days?

How is everyone doing?

Mortima · 04/11/2022 08:34

Hi - I'm 7dpo, 4th proper cycle trying and not convinced about this one somehow.

I think the thing that's annoying me most at the moment is how hard it is to plan for future events when you think you might be pregnant, whereas when you first start trying there's a part of you that thinks it will happen quickly (so less need to worry about long-term planning).

E.g. I love a holiday - we're always constrained to school holidays because of work, and if I wasn't TTC I'd be looking at options for Easter time right now (as you need to book way in advance these days for it to be remotely affordable), but then I think - will I still want to go if I'm pregnant? What if I needed medical care? Would I be better off saving the money for maternity leave? Etc...first-world problem I know though!
