Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has been for a first appointment at the ACU in Dundee. My husband and I have our first appointment together at the end of January and just wondering what to expect.

@CuriousAries aw no sorry to hear that it’s been delayed :(

CuriousAries · 16/02/2023 09:38

DELAYED

Good morning,

Due to our unit closures this has caused a delay in treatment starting. Unfortunately, because of this and patient numbers we can only advise of provisional dates and therefore your treatment has been delayed slightly and will be a provisional March/April start. We will send out you information pack in due course.

It can't be provisionally March since my period is at the beginning of March!!!!!

Off to recalculate my life 🤣

sjp00 · 15/02/2023 20:28

@CuriousAries yeah the consent forms came on the online portal - sorry I should have said that. We got a text to log in the online portal as further forms had been added, that was our consent forms. We got these Friday just past, and our letter we received Tuesday was also dated on the Friday. My portal also said overdue before I received my newest forms:) haha thank you worth the shout, just annoying as if the period just came that little bit later our timing would be almost perfect, it’s the holding of breath just now! X

CuriousAries · 15/02/2023 20:26

@sjp00
So consent forms...then a pack...has your online portal changed at all? Mines is always out of date and saying overdue and doesn't have a consultant name next to it so don't know if it's no longer of use since the consultant appointment.
Tell your partner to start taking a different supplement brand as that's always delayed mines 🤣

sjp00 · 15/02/2023 20:16

We received our info pack in post on Tuesday this week, it was sent out the Friday same day we received our consent forms, I suspect maybe yours will be with you hopefully next week @CuriousAries I feel you about the working out and waiting, we are away at the end of March which looks like will fall into our treatment so we may have to postpone till April which is just annoying but we are hoping my partners period comes late this month to avoid this! X

CuriousAries · 15/02/2023 19:16

@RRk1469 fingers crossed for you on Friday

I've cracked and emailed the unit tonight.
But I have a gut feeling I won't be starting in March and been pushed back as don't think they would leave the packs this late- esp if you got it last week @sjp00
I'll ask them why, if I have, but guessing the December/January start date delays from Xmas and the renovations will be the cause. Fair enough, but surely you'd know that on the 18th Jan when I emailed.

I'll let you all know! Sorry I hope me ranting isn't triggering for those waiting to start soon and it won't necessarily means April/May/June people get pushed back etc! I just need a place to rant....

For me previously being so cool about things time wise, I'm feeling this now!
I have stupidly worked out due dates, treatment dates etc....excuses for work next Month...and now I feel I'm gonna have to do it all again (for the millionth time in the past 3 years)...and would be a 2024 baby instead of 2023 which feels like another year in a way!
I know 4 weeks difference will go quick... but it's just a whole other ball game in my head!

Would rather have had them not tell me provisionally March!

RRk1469 · 13/02/2023 16:39

@CuriousAries my letter say due to start dec/Jan. Phone on cycle day 1 I think I got the letter November so was quite late.

I had my scan today and unfortunately my follicles haven't grown much so I have a higher dose of bemfola til Fri then hopefully egg collection on Monday 🤞if not this cycle may be cancelled 😭

FSF85 · 13/02/2023 12:41

@CuriousAries
We're waiting on a letter too. We've been provisonally told April/May when had our consultation for protocol back in January so I'm hoping it's not being pushed back as I'm not sure I can deal with yet more waiting - it's just excrutiating!! My period would be due at the end of April/start of May so I'm trying to remain hopeful. Let me know when you do get a letter and fingers crossed it's not pushed back🙏

sjp00 · 13/02/2023 11:06

@CuriousAries We got consent forms sent to us a couple days ago asking us to watch a bunch of videos and confirm our treatment by filling in a couple of legal forms. We are due a letter to confirm, which we were advised on the phone, but we got told that about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I’m away on holiday this week so my plan is to phone them up when I am back if nothing has come through x

CuriousAries · 11/02/2023 22:52

@RRk1469 @TTC86 fingers crossed for you both.

Can I ask - the letter that comes through to say phone on next period - does it say just that or does it say specifically phone on March period etc.

And how long before the start month did you get it?

So email said March, that like 2 weeks away and I'll have my period on the 1st or 2nd but nothing through the post which makes me think it's getting pushed back. @sjp00 anything through for you?

RRk1469 · 10/02/2023 21:28

Aww @TTTC86 I have everything crossed for you ❤️ good luck. Keep us updated

@RRk1469 Yes we had our IUI and are in the 2WW now. 😬
Just can't believe we've finally made it here. So nerve racking and just have everything crossed for a positive test.
No idea how I'm going to get through the next 2 weeks.

Yea was thinking that in the waiting room when I saw another woman walk in 😂

Oh not long for you fingers crossed it all goes to plan and you can have your transfer on the 20th!!

How's everyone else getting on?

RRk1469 · 07/02/2023 19:10

@TTTC86 How's it all going I know you're dues to start soon?

Do you guys even wonder when you're in the waiting room if it's one of us on here next to you!? I do all the time!!!

I start my stims tonight I'm putting it off though 🤣 ive been told egg collection will probably be next Wednesday 🤞 and possibly all going well transfer day will be Monday the 20th. Arrrgggh hoping we have another little sticky bean 🤞🥳

RRk1469 · 25/01/2023 12:07

@mrsmrsmacmc Was just looking at dates etc and what to take off work. Was wondering how you felt after egg collection? Will I need to take time off after that? If so I'll need like 3weeks off? 😫 I'm kind of freaking out about having to come to work and ruining my chances. The stress is real right now .

Sorry @RRk1469 I didn't get notification of you tagging me 🫣 I had the day of (Wed) and the day after EC off (Thurs) and worked from home on the 3rd day (Fri) then it was the weekend when I took things really easy. I was a bit constipated after EC but managed to get things moving again with lactulose which the ACU team said was perfectly safe to take. We had our ET on the Monday and I worked through the 2ww, 3 days remote and 2 days in person. Hope this helps 🥰 ✨ ❤️

LAW89 · 30/01/2023 19:27

@CuriousAries me to

LAW89 · 30/01/2023 19:21

I think it is rhe long protocol which I think is the normal one. I emailed again just asking for any Information as Feb is just round rhe corner but they have said it looks like a march/April start now. Was told I’d be getting a text and something in the post soon

sjp00 · 26/01/2023 22:04

@Ducky4 Welcome! :) how exciting you are shortly moving to the next stage, all my fingers crossed these next steps progress smoothly! ☺️ Xx

Ducky4 · 26/01/2023 21:22

Hi folks, I’m new to all this on here, but I’ve been watching the tread for a while. I thought I’d share my story so far, as I’m finding it helpful reading all of yours.

Myself and husband were both referred for IVF in Nov 2021. We had a phone consultation at the end of January 2022 with ACU. After a long wait, I started short protocol round mid October 2022. I had a great experience with egg collection (I was very nervous but I was so well looked after by staff at Ninewells). We were hopeful for fresh transfer, but was told I was overstimulated and would have to have any embryos frozen. We got 4. All frozen. Time slowed down again - we had another period of waiting for FET due to Xmas closure etc. BUT - we are now moving forward. Starting in a few weeks with the next stage. I’m not entirely sure what that looks like exactly, but I’ve got the next two hospital appointments booked in.
For me it’s been a surreal and bizarre experience. Sending out love and well wishes to everyone going through this ❤️

TTC86 · 26/01/2023 20:10

Oh @sjp00 that sounds good might give it a watch.
Oh I'm so happy you finally have a date that's so exciting! It's good to have something confirmed to work towards.

I should be having first iui thebweek of the 6th. So so close now, but the days are dragging by so slowly.

@RRk1469 Amazing! How are you feeling?
Yes we had a smoke test but it was at our last appointment in the Vic last January before we got our appointment at Ninewells lol and my Partner had to do one too even though I'm carrying and we aren't using her eggs.
Very strange!

sjp00 · 26/01/2023 16:06

We finally got our start month, we are due to phone on day one of my partners March period! Then we have a 12 week wait between that point/egg collection to embryo transfer, so embryo transfer should be around end of may/mid June 😁So so happy to finally have a timeframe to look forward to!

Hope everyone else is getting on okay, especially those starting soon xx

@sjp00 Aww I'm going to watch it. Might be informative 👌

I've had my first injection 💉 today. I got the one dose which will keep me topped up till stims. Baseline scan is in the 6th where they've told me that myself and DH have to attend so we can get smoke test?? Seems strange they'd only test this after we've started our cycle? Has anyone else had this?

Hi all, hope everyone is well! Just thought I’d point out, there is a TV show airing at the moment: Alex Jones, Making Babies. Although it is based in London it has been good to see the process and people’s real life experience. I have found it quite interesting and it makes me feel a bit better about what to expect, thought I’d share in case anyone else fancied a watch of it! There are new episodes each Thursday, free to watch on UKTV app, think there is 3 or 4 episodes currently :) x

mrsmacmc · 19/01/2023 21:21

@sjp00 thank you 🥰 keeping OK thanks, countdown is on for our 12wk scan 🤞🏻
