I know this is not a "method" to prevent pregnancy per say but I'm just wondering how many of you fell pregnant this way? My partner and I are currently using the withdrawal method as we're not actively trying but will be in the not too distant future. Just wondering how many of you guys out there fell pregnant this way? Is it a common occurrence or pretty rare still?

We used to do this and I never got pregnant. However I then struggled for years to have a baby and only managed one so I'd be very wary of using this 'method' and not realising you may have fertility issues if no baby.

I mean definitely don’t do it if you’re new to a relationship, don’t want kids etc. But that’s not your situation, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Worked for us for 3 years between getting married and conceiving. No accidents. Conceived first try, so it’s not like we we’re having accidents and just not conceiving.

Me and DH used for about five years successfully and conceived both DCs on first and then second month when 'trying'. I am no longer willing to risk it though as I do not want a third.

We have literally just today found we're unexpectedly pregnant from the pull out method, so I would not recommend.

DTD for 2 mins before condom was used for remainder of the time, at what seemed like a non fertile time, probably 5 days before an early ovulation in hindsight. This is with fertility issues too! (took years to conceive first DC)

God how can sex be enjoyable when you're worried about tracking when you can and can't have sex and worrying about not getting too carried away etc?

Just use a condom.

I have used this successfully for years. On one occasion I didn’t bother and got pregnant.

I used it successfully in my youth for a very active year (before Gillick competency meant you could get the pill without parents being notified).

Many years later DC were planned to the month, so I don’t think I was sub-fertile, just lucky perhaps.

Fine, not everything has to be PIV all the time, but to never be able to just bash on and finish must be a bit tiresome.

Regardless, no, it's not a reliable form of contraception.

We did this for many years without problems. Stopped it when we started to TTC.

Used it post 2 dds as felt I knew my cycle well. One month realised that I had ovulated early, took morning after pill within 12 hours which didn't work - pregnant. Not a reliable form of contraceptive. DH had a vasectomy pretty pronto after that!!

Me and husband have used the method for years and never had a baby until we were trying to actively conceive which was easy when we did. I've read something about Precum and how men either have sperm in it or not. So some couples will be pretty safe using this and some not so much.... of course I have no idea how you would go about finding this out!
I wouldn't use this method if I was dead set against having a baby, but if you're willing to take the risk...crack on. No hormones messing with your mood and body and boring condoms!

Currently pregnant with DC2 only 3 months after having DD and DP pulled out🙃 it didn't fail for me for years on end but now I know it really can't be trusted

@itsmellslikepopcarn that's so interesting because you hear people say it's like playing roulette and then you hear others like yourself say they've used it for years without any issues. That's why I find it such an interesting topic and wanted to gauge people's experiences who have actually done it.

I don't know... Personally I've been using it for 12 odd years and only got pregnant the 2 times it was planned so not "withdrawing" anything so to speak! Those two times i got pregnant the first try so I'm sure there are no fertility issues that have enable me to not get pregnant all the other times!

I used the withdrawal method for 5 months between getting my coil out and my wedding, I didn’t fall pregnant. I was fully aware that I could fall pregnant though and that would have been ok, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken the risk.
