Thanks for the lovely welcome girls . BEMY, lol, at possible child addiction . Hand on heart 4 is my max, think because dd1 & 2 are soo close, only 16 months apart, that we feel that little dd3 is sort of left out of things. Not that you can plan how they get on, but we do like the idea of another one to even things up (and 4 seems just 'neater' somehow ) NATALIEJANE, just shout if you need any advice with CC . I am very much an advocate (hard, because dh is not , but then he sleeps through the 3am tantrums!). Have done it successfully with first 2 (it DOES work though can take 10 days or so), and to a lesser extent with dd3. She's in process of moving into her big girl bed, though is sleeping in dd2's lower bunk now for her nap which is NOT going to help things tonight .

NatalieJane · 18/01/2008 13:33

Hi Diege I am fairly new to the thread as well, but everyone seems lovely and welcoming, I already have 2 DS's so you're not the only with children already

Cosmo, that sounds like a really good deal maternity wise. Deffo get the champers popping

BB, everyone derserves a new outfit every now and then (or if you're like me everytime I go into town! ) I hope the dinner goes well

Not looking forward to the CC thing TBH, but as I say, I don't see any other way of doing it. Lot's of coffee tonight I think!

BeMyLilBaby · 18/01/2008 13:20

Hi! Would it be OK for me to join this thread? I'm in a similar sitation to CARMENELECTRA [waves!]regarding biological clock (37 too) and waiting till April ish to start ttc no.4 purely for selfish reasons relating to my job . I have 3 dds, age 6, 5 and 2, and no. 4 would be our last (err, that's what I said about no.3 ). I started my dream job last September, and while plans had been to ttc no. 4 last July, got the new job unexpectedly. Summer time would be a good time for me to get pregnant (I work in higher education) as teaching lightens up, and I can take it a little easier if I have all-day sickness like times 1 & 3. The best made plans and all that eh! Hello to everyone, and hoppe I'm in the right thread and don't offend anyone with having 3 already!

Cosmogirl · 18/01/2008 12:35

Thanks guys! I am still a bit in shock I think - all happened so fast, but very exciting nonetheless. Thinking should probably stick on the pill for a few more months now and settle into the job. Will need to check out maternity policy etc but from what I have read it is 3 months full pay, 3 months half, 3 months SMP, and three upaid - so pretty darn good! Not sure how long you have to be there for that though, so will wait to get my employee handbook.
Yey - exciting! Weekend wise - nothing much planned, which is nice. Probably should go out and celebrate I suppose, but because we are being 'good', maybe not....DH has his second weigh in on Monday. x

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/01/2008 12:33

oo Natalie, that sounds like you have a hard weekend planned! I think it sounds like a sensible plan but its not going to be much fun doing it, but it the long run I am sure it will be worth it!

NatalieJane · 18/01/2008 09:12

Morning all

Plans for the weekend? Well DH is having a very rare weekend off, but we are going to attempt controlled crying with our youngest, never done it before, can't stand to hear them cry, so goodness knows if it is going to work, but he is getting so stroppy and over tired, and will not give up the fight to go to sleep and we need our evenings and bed back to ourselves. Bit controversal, but don't feel like we have much choice anymore but to try it.

So I expect we will spend the weekend taking naps and trying to catch up on sleep.

I don't think we'll feel like doing much else TBH, it is going to be a long hard weekend.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/01/2008 09:06

Morning all,

Congratulations Cosmo! Sounds like exactly the sort of thing you need. New job, new start and sooner than you know it, new baby (hopefully!!).

Wow, you girls are being so good on the diet front. I really should be more proactive. Its not really what I eat, I think its more to do with the fact I eat too much, don't exercise and I have far too many dinner parties (not in the snobby middle class way, just mates round for food ). Maybe will have to work on getting my portion sizes smaller and start some exercise.

Not up to anything too exciting this weekend, helping my brother move house. Also have friends coming for dinner on Sat night and a different set of friends coming for Sunday lunch (hmm, food again!).

Anyway, time to get on with some work.

BeMyLilBaby · 18/01/2008 08:01

Congrats cosmo!!

Thats such good news, its really important to be in a gd job that you enjoy!

does anyone have plans for the weekend xx

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 19:51

Wow Cosmo! Congratulations It sounds like a really good opportunity

That is good that you are dieting together, gives you more motivation I am sure. I think the hardest part with any diet is when you first start you lose loads, then a few weeks down the line you seem to stop losing so much as your body catches up, I think that is when most people give up thinking it isn't working.

Congrats on the job again

Cosmogirl · 17/01/2008 19:40

Hey ladies, well what a day! Job interview went well - they offered me it at the interview!! So shocked, so said I would think about it over night. Am going to call tomorrow and accept. Such a good offer, great money, loads of good benefits (they really look after staff), so I am hopeful it will all work out for the best. Just the yucky business of resigning now ick.....

Dieting wise, me and DH are two weeks into Slimming World. He is going to the meetings, I am just following it from the book but he lost 10 and a half pounds in week 1 - how good is that? Hope we can stay motivated. I miss chocolate tho Hope you are all well girls. Thanks again for your good wishes x

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 17:45

OMG, I couldn't be doing with those.... I have watched my sister doing diet after diet after diet, and never getting anywhere with them, I decided I wasn't going to do the same, I thought if I eat too much I am going to put weight on, if I eat too little my body won't work, if I eat enough my body will do what it feels is right, seems to be working so far!

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 17:21

there like pure caffeine pills, i got them from the gym, they just send your metabolism into hyperdrive!!! they honestly made me feel so thirsty that i felt i'd die unless i had water with me at all times... i did shift a stone in two weeks but cldnt cope with feeling that way for long... was considering doing a week on week off, but think i'l just follow your good example, and eat when hungry, and control my portions x

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 17:07

I am firmly a beliver of eat when you're hungry, don't eat when you're not (unless it is Galaxy bars, or biscuits, or jaffa cakes )

I have lost about 3st. in the last 13 months just by eating only when hungry, and not over eating (ie. stopping eating when full, not feeling like I have to finish every last morsal on the plate)

I don't have a strict exercise regime, but I do walk quite a bit and because we live on a mountain, a lot of it is up hill, but other than that I've done nothing.

What are stackers??

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 17:02

Hi playing

According to the hieght against weight charts i too should shed some weight, im not happy with my weight myself either, am contemplaiting WeightWatchers but like you i enjoy cooking and the social side of eating... And the unreasonable lazy cow part of my brain says whats the point of loosing weight if gonna ttc...

Oh the drama!!

I think i shall just be trying to cut junk food... and take some more exercise, i was trying stackers but they were horrid they give me the shakes!!

So i think i'l just try to do things the right way...

what about everyone else? xx

Playingthewaitinggame · 17/01/2008 16:56

Hi Guys,

well I have managed not to eat anything too naughty today (that big bowl of chilli con carne doesn't count ). Keep thinking about going on a diet. Could do with loosing a reasonable amount of weight according to the BMI scale but cooking (and eating) is one of my fav hobbies and I generally eat reasonibly healthy most of the time. Maybe exercise is the answer. Should do something to get my body in shape before ttc.

Anyone else attempting a pre-ttc diet/exercise plan?

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 15:24

Biscuits, ultimate comfort food, I don't buy them anymore, else I eat them all LOL

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 14:52

he he its ok ive stuffed myself with biscuits bang goes the diet for today lol x

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 13:59

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 13:52

Oh no natalie have i missed the choc??? i lurve galaxy!i have sent my office monkey out to fetch malteaser type suplies however he has just informed me i will have to make do with chocolate fudge cookies ho hum... sometimes he's a gd drugged up monkey who does my bidding he he

Yes lets all forget about yesterday, i think i'l do like you playing and just read,i do enjoy reading anyway hehe

havent heard from cosmo, wonder how she got on? x

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 12:07

Sorry girls I wasn't saying that you (or 'new' TTCers) should leave those types of threads, but that the people who have been TTCing for a while and are starting to get a bit of.... resentment towards people who haven't been trying very long, they should be the ones who take a step back and remember what it was like to start TTC.

I think if there is a thread running specifically for those that have been trying for e.g. 12 months or more, and then a 'newbie' butt's in and starts talking about just starting out, minus the rudeness I think it would then be perfectly acceptable to point them in the direction of the general TTC threads.

I saw the thread yesterday and it certainly didn't look to me like a thread for the old timers.

Anyway, I have a bar of Galaxy to get through before DS2 wakes up and want's some

Playingthewaitinggame · 17/01/2008 11:55

Morning everyone.

Yes I did post a rather long message yesterday. I had had a shit day, was stressed and went a little OTT, I hope I didnt offend anyone.

I do really understand the problems some people face ttc and I am sure I cannot even begin to comprehend how hard it must be, however, that doesn't excuse rudeness which is what made me mad. Many people here have a lot of personal issues/circumstances to deal with and come on here for support, which is what Mumsnet shoud be. But yes, I think maybe not posting on those threads is a good idea, I havent as I thought I may have got a similar reaction, but I do read them. Anyhow, lets draw a line under all of that.

How are we all today? Cosmos- how did the interview go?

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 10:38

playing just read your long post, thanks for it! it summed up exactly how i feel!

Natalie you're right too, and not bitchy, perhaps im just better staying within our little group, dont wwanna upset people and i spose like you said it must be hard not to become a little self centred if you have trouble ttc, i am just hoping agianst that for myself!!

Its nice you have a month, may will soon be here!

I still havent had AF, but Coil seems fine, think it must just be a side affect...the strange human body eh lol x

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 09:56

Hi everyone

Good luck today Cosmo, I will keep my fingers crossed for you xx

BB/playing, I think some people on the TTC boards have had it really hard, and as much as I feel for them, (I do know what it is like to be waiting for a while), sometimes they get so caught up in their own TTC that they aren't really much good on a thread about others TTC. They don't always give the same sort of support, because they feel they aren't getting anywhere, why should anyone else? It sounds like selfishness, it isn't it is quite right that their own lives and circumstances are going to seem far more important to them, than people on an internet site, but as I say, I think perhaps they should recognise that they aren't really giving the support, and maybe bow out, or go and start a specific thread to do with TTC for a long time etc. it has been done before.

Whilst obviously the longer you are TTC the stress and worry builds, I think sometimes people forget that even in the first month TTC it quickly becomes an obsession and is the biggest thing going on in your life.

Does all that make me sound really bitchy? It wasn't meant to be. Just observation and from my own personal experiences.

I still have a cold/headachy type thing, so am still grumping about! Though I did cheer myself up slightly yesterday, I ordered some of those cheap pregnancy tests off eBay, mainly to see when I stop getting BFP's from the M/C, but hoping to use more of them come May time

BeMyLilBaby · 17/01/2008 08:43

Yeah you can all call em whatever you like, so long as its nice he he hope it has gone well today cosmo!!

Well better do some work today i guess!!
