So nearly nipped into WHSmiths today to buy baby mags..... I thought it was my hormones that drove me to spend ££££££'s on them in my last pregnancies, I guess not!! I was very good though and didn't... yet

Busy already on here! I do like the food in Waitrose just not how much I spend there! I live about 200m from Waitrose, 500m from M&S and about a mile from Tescos. You can guess where I shop most of the time! Its so much easier just wandering across the car park into Waitrose then getting the car out and driving to Tesco.

Yes another day at work . At least the sun is shining. Shouldn't moan, my jobs not normally too bad, it just is at the moment (post christmas Customer Service calls in huge volumes, and its not even my job). Even so, would much rather be a lady that lunches!

Another nice long night in our bed on our own. It is fantastic

I have to nip into town this morning, I don't want to go, it is freezing out there, would much rather stay here tucked up with DS2 and MN Am also going to miss mums and tots again, TBH after the way the woman who runs it spoke to me about the MC, I don't feel like ever going back.

I have never even been in Waitrose, we have never lived anywhere near one, though we do have a M&S food bit, I have to pysically stop myself going in there else I could spend spend spend Onion Marmalade..... mmmmmmm

Ah Waitrose is the best.....yum. DH has his 2nd weigh in tonight at Slimming World so I have to wait until late to eat. Already starving!

Right, I spose I should go and think about what I am going to cook for dinner. Hmm, might need a trip to Waitrose.

We are in such similar situations. We have a loan that we will clear off in a few months hopefully, esp with my payrise. But, like you, I really would like to a some savings put aside, a 'baby fund' if you like God I'm a geek....Keep changing my mind about how much I'd like to have saved tho . Plus you raise a good point about the 'how long will it take?' thing. When I think about ttc I always think it is going to happen straight away, but if MN has taught me one important lesson it is that you can't assume that will be the case. Some people take over a year or more. You just don't factor that possibility in when you pick a start date. Well I don't tend to anyway....Perhaps that is a bad thing.

Wondered where you were today! You might not be last, it may be Dec for me, it really depends. Cant have baby before Feb/March 08, we finish a loan in Feb 08, so need to have paid that off. Ideally I want a few months to save as well. I feel it is only right to have some money in the bank for emergencies etc. Of course, it may take a while ttc, and my GP thinks it might, but you have to work on the fact that it might not. So that means the longer I leave it the better, if I can make the end of the year I will have a few months pre-baby to put some money aside. Also, if there are any pregnancy complication and I want to start maternity leave early I can without worrying about money. I know it make sense to wait, every month I delay it will be better for us in the long run but as I am so aware it may take a while tc I dont want to leave it too long!! Its why I keep changing my mind.

Playing - Didn't know about the possible extension to maternity pay/leave, that is pretty cool. But prob will be 2010 before it makes its way into law.
I am with you on the dithering. Broody as hell most days but part of me keeps saying 'not yet not yet'. I guess when it is right my head and heart will tell me so [hopeful smiley].

Bit miffed I am last on the list though - feel a bit lonely down there! Ah well, will have to see how the new job pans out. Going to stick with the pill for a bit longer methinks....

I know the feeling, if my mate left my old place of work I am sure I wouldn't get a discount, my old boss is far too tight!!! At least if I stay working where I am after baby then they can have loads of Barbie, Spider-Man and Noddy electronic toys at cost price!

My sister used to work at a v. posh baby shop, I got loads of discounts on stuff for DS2, she is working as a recruitment officer now, how is that gonna save me ££££££'s on stuff?

Yes, plus I know quite a lot about baby products and kids toys so that is always a useful skill! You should see some of the baby and toddler Trade toy fairs, they are fantastic!! And I should be able to get some products cheap from my old company which is always nice, they do good breast feeding bras which should fit my boobs (they are large-isH) which I will be taking advantage of!!

In fact thinking about it spending the last 3 or so years working with baby/kids toys/products may not help the broody situation!!

BB - LOL at looking at prams. Maybe it is a little early for that! Mind you, I already know far too much info about prams. I used to work for a company who distributed the BuggyBoard (among other things) so we got to be pram experts with all the "how do you fit a BuggyBoard to my Quinny" questions! And, I already have three baby bags which I bought from them when I worked there (over 2 years ago now) because they are nice bags!

I am so glad I don't have to do the whole Maternity pay/work thing, sounds wayyyyy to complicated for me

LOL BB, I have been looking at prams since I had DS2 I think I know just about everything there is to know about just about every pram/buggy/stroller/anything that holds kid/s with wheels..... how sad am I?!!! I already know which one I am going to get for DC3 depending on what new ones are brought out between now and then, and depending on whether I need to do the whole double buggy thing, which I really hope I don't!

Thought this was exactly the place to share maternity info, particularly as it influences people decisions on whether they can afford to have kids or not.

This weekend I am in Edinburgh for a friends wedding. Actually going up Thursday morning (leave about 3am ) cos its one of those party all week things. To be honest I really need the break but I know it is going to be so expensive. Other peoples weddings cost so much money!!! Last year we reckon we probably spent a 1k on our friends wedding by the time you add in the costs of stag and hen dos, outfits, present, accomodation etc. Hoping to spend less this year but the 4 nights in Edinburgh will cost a fortune alone!!
