New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@thislittlebird I've told 14 people (just counted). Rather more than I'd thought tbh... anyone important in my life pretty much knows. For me it was too much to go through this and not say it. That said I've only shared anything specific with a small handful. I th think whatever you need to do to get to the other side, go for it. Different for everyone!

That is such a pain @PurpleUnicorn01 and so close but good to know it was working and a bit of an adjustment next time and it will come good. I struggle with thin linings too, was at 5.5-6.5 for a long while there even on Letrozole. Acupuncture, vit E and a heat pad on my stomach each evening in the room up ovulation has helped me to get to 7-8mm is it's any help to you at all. The heat pad is also just really soothing and lovely. I'll be starting around 27th so probably mid February for transfer assuming all goes smoothly. How long do they expect it to take to reset your cycle?

It’s like more of a shock coming from other people and them saying “we thought you’d know” because I’m closer with her. And I’m like hahaha yeah well she mentioned plans to start a family but not that she’s about to give birth 🤨

@PurpleUnicorn01 can’t believe they told you to take the wrong thing. When would you roughly be beginning again?

@Gracie2021 I am happy for people on here but everyone else can get in the bin 😂. I feel like we’re all overdue a turn, not them! 🙈

@beckyCarlos Thanks, I am really down but feel a bit better today. Did a workout yesterday and got some sleep. Me and DH are sleeping separately for a few days at least so I don’t worry about disturbing him on top of the other worries.

So lots of you have told no one about ivf. Meanwhile this fool has told everyone. Like I literally cannot stop saying it, it’s verbal diarrhoea. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but whenever someone asks about kids or pregnancies planned I can’t hide it and I’m just like “well actually we’re starting ivf soon”. I just told our window cleaners who I chat to when they asked if we’re planning kids ffs asdfgshejjsjsjakwk 😭😩😂

I need an intervention. Or a gag. Funnily the guy was nice and said sorry for asking but they struggled too and it took them three years to conceive. I was pleased he said that because I was already spiralling from the embarrassment of oversharing.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 12/01/2022 13:48

@pinkginpls thank you

@beckyCarlos @gracie2021 i was 5.9mm needed to be 7mm so not far off just more estrogen next time. When are you ladies starting roughly

beckyCarlos · 12/01/2022 13:31

@purpleunicorn01 we might cycle together, depends on instructions after polypectomy but that would be cool!

@thislittlebird I'm sorry, thats rubbish! I guess it came from a good place but its very misguided, and in reality has made it worse. You sound so blue at the moment, sending you a big virtual hug and a large metaphorical glass of your favourite drink! X

Gracie2021 · 12/01/2022 12:55

Omg @PurpleUnicorn01 I misread that and didn't see the accidentally wrong medication. Such a pain!

Gracie2021 · 12/01/2022 12:54

I'm so sorry your cycle was cancelled @PurpleUnicorn01. How thick did you get to? Happy to be support for your next cycle and yes we could very well be around the same time. Are you doing ok today?

@thislittlebird how does she think that's a better way of handling it than just being upfront. Sorry 😢 I have to admit one of my friends is trying and while most of me is hoping she has her success soon and avoids going through this crappy process, another part of me was so relieved when she got the booster and at least I knew she wasn't pregnant. Rotten of me but there you go..... I think people on here are the main exception for me, for some reason easy to be happy for those that have struggled on the boards with us but the drive by BFP's and the real life BFP's I'm 100% struggling with!

OP posts:
pinkginpls · 12/01/2022 12:50

@thislittlebird I like to think your friend was not sharing because she knows you are getting treatment. Anyway learning other people's pregnant news sucks. Hugs and kissess x

@PurpleUnicorn01 sorry to hear that. crazy that they can prescribe the wrong meds by accident, imagine if it is some serious drugs! (not that progestrone isn't but you know what i mean!)

PurpleUnicorn01 · 12/01/2022 12:35

Hi ladies

@thislittlebird im so sorry about that. You are entitled to feel hurt.

I had my lining scan but it wasn't thick enough and they accidentally told me to take progestrone so now my cycles cancelled and i have to wait to come on my period and start again down regs on day 21. Argh. Oh well waited this long another few weeks makes no difference. I might be cycling with some of you?

thislittlebird · 12/01/2022 12:29

@Gracie2021yeah, she knew we were due to start treatment and I'm guessing that's why. But finding out through other people and her saying they were only trying is weird to me because clearly she was rather pregnant when we last chatted in December. Ugh. I can't even be bothered to contact her about it, I'll wait until I'm in a better place. I'm definitely not in a celebrating other people's pregnancies place right now.

Gracie2021 · 12/01/2022 12:11

@thislittlebird I'm so sorry that sucks. Did she know that you were struggling and that's why she didn't say anything or has she just not said it to a lot of people? Horrible to be blind sided like that.

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 12/01/2022 12:01

I found out my friend didn't tell me she was heavily pregnant and I'm kind of upset. We're not in the same country now so it's not like I don't see her but it hurts that she didn't tell me. She told me they were trying a few months ago and that was that. Now I found out from someone else she's basally due soon.

pinkginpls · 11/01/2022 22:32

@Juno231good to know! Would you mind sharing how long did you wait from applying to actual appointments? I am with St Helier Hospital so really quite close!

Juno231 · 11/01/2022 21:52

@pinkginpls I got funding in SWL CCG and although the policy gives you a list of clinics to choose from I never got a choice. The gynecologist put a funding request through directly with the hospital I'd been having all my treatments in (Kingston). Thing is that still meant doing transport IVF with Kings as Kingston doesn't have an embryo lab so I was fine with it.

pinkginpls · 11/01/2022 21:31

@thislittlebird that's cool. I am expecting an appointment for post op and following up so if I don't hear anything this week will sure to ring them up. x

thislittlebird · 11/01/2022 20:45

@pinkginpls if they’re saying you need IVF then it should be fine. We didn’t have to do anything to apply, they did it for us, she will do it for you. Do you have a meeting planned to discuss it?

pinkginpls · 11/01/2022 20:41

@thislittlebird The gynaecologist whom has been following my infertility investigation said she will apply for funding. So instead of my GP? I have gone through numerous blood tests, hycosy, even a laparoscopy, the gynae said all investigations are done so they are recommendation IVF. Hope they aren't going to throw my case back to my GP and expect him to do anything, which he is clueless from the start.

thislittlebird · 11/01/2022 16:10

@pinkginpls what stage are you at? And who is applying for funding? I got to choose but it was just my GP asking me if I want Guys or Kings on the phone. However, I did have a bit of a mare to get that point of a referral. Went round the houses a bit before he did it, had to change GPs.

thislittlebird · 11/01/2022 16:07

Well, it’s better late than ever I guess. Never had an OPK this dark without meds since Oct 2019 lmao.

Fertility Appointments and Beyond.... the journey continues
pinkginpls · 11/01/2022 14:43

Hey ladies, I am reading a lot about IVF funding. Does anyone mind sharing their experience about how it all started? What questions do they ask during your application? Do you get to choose the fertility clinic?
I belong to the SWL CCG and wonder which clinic is the best... I read King's is probably the largest and has the best stats but it is about an hour away...

Thanks in advance all x

thislittlebird · 11/01/2022 12:57

@beckyCarlos @magnoliasinbloom thanks for the yoga recommendation, I'll look it up. I never know where to start with at home yoga.

@PurpleUnicorn01 what you said is basically what my GP said too. Don't pay much attention to AMH, which is fair.

@Gracie2021 they only want it for your protocol, I suppose. Mine was only done twice because I initially paid for it back in February 2021 because I was worried I was menopausal (my periods were being weird), and then again with the clinic at our appointment in August.

I have immune issues in terms or flora and fauna and all that, have had gut issues in the past, have constant eczema issues which is also related, and thrush issues. I started taking optibac for when the thrush is bad (which is usually to do with my hormones at certain times of the month) and actimel every day and it does seem to be helping.

I'm mostly vegetarian so at the moment I make a shake for breakfast each morning with a spoon of whey protein, flax seed, oats, peanut butter amongst other things hoping that getting the vitamins and nutrients in the morning is a good start and might help my eggos.

I've got my new HIIT shoes (still waiting for the running ones), so I'm going to do that in a bit.

I got my ivf prescription email today, it consists of:

2??? x Gonal-f 900units/1.5ml solution for injection 1 pre-filled pen

8??? x Fyremadel 250micrograms/0.5ml solution for injection pre-filled syringe

1 x Ovitrelle 250micrograms/0.5ml solution for injection 1 pre-filled pen (CD4)

45 x Cyclogest 400mg pessary

Not sure what the numbers of gonal f vs fyremadel are about, maybe it'll make sense when it arrives on Friday.

I'm not sure what to do about my period tbh. I thought I might have ovulated already, I had some EWCM or near to and some ovary pains a few days ago. Now this morning I had a lot EWCM, more than usual, so I will assume my body will ovulate later again, as it used to. If I ovulate on around day 18 (today is 16) I'll be just scraping into my IVF window. I have no good idea of when to expect my period and it's hurting my brain :/

Maybe I'll do an OPK or two, it's never worked yet but you never know.

beckyCarlos · 11/01/2022 12:49

P.p.s add AMH to the list of things I wish I'd never heard of and havent had to explain to literally anyone I've told about this, even people having IVF

beckyCarlos · 11/01/2022 12:48

Oh and @gracie2021 and @thislittlebird lol at my naive younger self stressing about whether the pill would be enough protection and maybe I need a condom too, it really is ironic all the times I though 'but what if'. But we live and learn haha. Might start a separate savings account now for my hypothetical childrens private fertility work up fund!

@purpleunicorn01 another fellow low AMH-er, literally noone I know has low AMH going through IVF so this has made me feel so much less alone 🥰

beckyCarlos · 11/01/2022 12:45

@gracie2021 I didnt realise you were in the low AMH club! Mine was 2.4! My consultant said that is 'awful', but I'm only 33 (now 34, ignoring that fact, in my head I stopped getting older in covid, which technically means I'm still 32...), which is 'excellent'. He's very blunt but it means I take him seriously when he say something is good. When I have a wobble I tell myself its quality not quantity, and all the ubiquinol, diet alterations, and not using plastics/perfumed stuff must be having a good impact 🥰

Gracie2021 · 11/01/2022 11:47

@magnoliasinbloom lovely to have a wedding to look forward to in there too and Chicago is fab. Hope you get to enjoy it all now. I'm using optibac at the minute but switch them out every second time as was told it's good to mix it up. I also a don't tend to eat bread or white rices etc too much as disagrees with me. I'm not religious about it but tend to be mainly gluten free.... easier since WFH.

OP posts:
magnoliasinbloom · 11/01/2022 11:14

@Gracie2021 Italy and Greece would be incredible :) Hopefully everywhere stays open and we can book! We've got a wedding in Italy in May and hoping to tack a trip to Slovenia on the end as well! Also hopefully meeting my husband's brother in Chicago in the summer as well (I'm a NZer living in London and I've not seen any family in almost 2 years due to the pandemic). What probiotics do you take? I've taken probiotics for a year but still seemed to be having gut problems so I got some testing done at the end of last year, the testing also came with a nutritionist consult that gave me some specific guidance on foods/supplements so I'm hoping that will make a difference.

@thislittlebird I have heard good things about Yoga with Adrienne! I have worried in the past that I'd struggle to keep up online without a teacher in the front of a class to look at but I should give it a go! x
