New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@beckyCarlos everything crossed for you. Drink lots of milk!

Tinkerbell098 · 31/03/2022 15:43

@beckyCarlos woo! this is great news.

I've created a thread for us and have tagged some of you there. So sorry if I've missed anyone. See you all there X

@beckyCarlos Yeyy!!! Amazing!! Great news Smile

I agree, a new thread is needed! Is anyone keen to lead a new one?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 31/03/2022 09:33

@Tinkerbell098 yes too a new thread x

PurpleUnicorn01 · 31/03/2022 09:32

@beckyCarlos yayyyy

beckyCarlos · 31/03/2022 09:12

Ladies... the folicles have grown more! They're now 15mm (nearly 16mm she pointed out), and 13mm. Have to back on Saturday for another check, but we might be on for egg collection on Monday! I am mind blown. X

Tinkerbell098 · 30/03/2022 14:17

@beckyCarlos so pleased to hear that your follicles are still growing and a couple of days more is probably what they need. Good luck for the next scan. Is it tomorrow?

@Sofasogood1 that's awful! Good that you've done a complaint. It's really unprofessional and negligent.

@Kay00 good to hear you are having a positive experience so far. It helps loads!

On another note, should we create a new thread as this will fill up pretty soon and prevent us from posting?

Kay00 · 29/03/2022 19:13

Thanks ladies. To be fair, so far my experience with the clinic has been excellent. They have been prompt and thorough and lovely and kind, so let's hope that continues 😊

beckyCarlos · 29/03/2022 14:02

@sofasosogood1 god! So glad you checked. But youre right, surely its standard procedure and should be so hard to give the wrong instructions!! This is one of the hardest things ive found about all of this, the fact that there are so many things that can go wrong or be communicated wrong and it seems to be down to us(!!) To check everything which seems totally arse about face.

@kay00 hopefully thats not the case, but you're forewarned and forearmed, and you can keep them on track (even though you shouldnt have to) x

Sofasogood1 · 29/03/2022 14:02

@kay00 once I'd got through the (extremely painful!) clinic referral the hospital bit came quickly!

pinkginpls · 29/03/2022 13:37

@Kay00 I am sure that is not true. Think of it as...you caught an off peak season of IVF. all will be well x

Kay00 · 29/03/2022 13:11

@Sofasogood1 Argh! I'd be so pissed if they gave me the wrong instructions/meds. I will take your advice and check, check and check again!

@beckyCarlos Yey! I'm massively rooting for your two follicles... I hope another couple of days is what they need Grin

@pinkginpls I'm secretly worried that the reason there seems to be no waiting list is because the clinic has such poor reviews, and so they are only getting business from the NHS ladies in the local area - gulp!

PurpleUnicorn01 · 29/03/2022 12:26

@Sofasogood1 well i had a full cycle 1 week before my embryo transfer as someone told me to take progestrone too early and so did the information leaflet. I was not impressed. They have since changed it. Your right in always staying on top of them.

Sofasogood1 · 29/03/2022 11:52

Ugh will my hospital EVER give me the right info!!!! Baseline scan this morning for first frozen transfer. Then appointment with nurse who ran through meds with me (estrogen three ways - orally, vaginally, patches plus buserelin injections ongoing). I left but rang the clinic to check the brand name of the pills and turns out the nurse was wrong to tell me to keep taking buserelin and that I should be taking Arovi instead. If I hadn't have called back to check something I'd have been doing the wrong stuff for TEN days until my next scan next week. I am so fucking sick of it and how do I even know that the second nurse is right?

I'm so pissed off with them. I've submitted a formal complaint already and they're way outside of the timescales of responding already.

It's the same nurse who gave me wrong info last time I'm sure of it.

Anyway sorry, I only ever seem to rant here. Lesson for anyone starting though is triple check every step of the way.

pinkginpls · 29/03/2022 11:04

rooting for you @beckyCarlos gotta be in it to win it Grin Grin

beckyCarlos · 29/03/2022 10:36

@pinkginpls @kay00 fingers crossed they have a few cancellations and things move faster than expected for you.

In a curveball today my (two) folicles have grown slightly, so I'm coming home with two more days of stims in case they're super late bloomers. I'm not super positive, but if you dont buy a ticket you cant win the lottery can you. X

pinkginpls · 29/03/2022 09:24

@kay00 yay on your funding! Jealous your initial appointment is earlier than mine too! No actual letter but a call then an email with tons of attachments to explain everything. I had my call about a month ago now and my initial appointment is just before Easter, hope all goes well!

beckyCarlos · 28/03/2022 16:45

@kay00 me too lol! I figure that since the only thing my clinic seem to put in writing and are shit hot on are invoices and I havent had one yet, so it must be covered 🤣 honestly, you have to note your appts, theres no online portal, nothing comes through by post email or NHS app, but get an amh test and boom, invoice through the door the next day! X

Kay00 · 28/03/2022 15:31

@beckyCarlos actually no, me neither Grin. But I knew the clinic had applied for my funding and the letter I was posted says "We are delighted to inform you that you are now in a position to start with the initial plans for moving forward with your treatment" ... so i put two and two together Grin I hope I'm not wrong!

beckyCarlos · 28/03/2022 12:59

Thanks everyone :) feeling much better after the pizza!

@gracie2021 thats great news about their development 😊

For everyone with funding letters/confirmation did you actually get something posted/emailed to you? I havent had anything, there has literally never even been a conversation about funding, apart from one time I said someting and the nurse said 'why would you be expecting to pay' 🤣 but am definitely on NHS funding currently! We did get all the forms sent electronically (I think, loads of stuff about our fitness to be parents?) And GP got the same, but never heard anything after and it all just progressed...

Gracie2021 · 28/03/2022 12:01

@Kay00 delighted for you that you got your funding! Will fly by now. I have the same dilemma. Think you just have to do what's right for you don't ya! I've decided to cancel our May holiday as egg collection and transfer that month is very likely. Will be august before we can go again but I just need to keep moving. Think if I take too much of a break it will be harder to face it again....

Got my day three update: 3 embryos on track and 1 behind. I'll take it! Think day 3-5 is the transition that can have the biggest attrition.

Tinkerbell098 · 28/03/2022 11:31

@Kay00 great news about the funding letter. How long have you had to wait? Hope mine comes through soon, not a fan of waiting! Hope you can discuss timelines with them at your appointment so they don't interrupt too much with your holiday plans.

Tinkerbell098 · 28/03/2022 11:27

@beckyCarlos I'm so sorry about the scan. At least there is a next step and they'll be able to work out a better protocol for you. Glad you settled for the pizza, hope it was nice and made you feel a bit better. Who knows? Tomorrow's scan might go really well. Miracles do happen! Fingers crossed for you xx

@Gracie2021 4 is still good. Good luck for today's update, hope they've got enough xx

Kay00 · 28/03/2022 11:25

@beckyCarlos I'm sorry to hear that the scans on Friday and Sunday didn't go as you had hoped. It sounds as though you are looking at them in a really positive way... and the dirty pizza was a great shout! I will have all my appendages crossed for your scan on Tuesday. I know that egg growth isn't linear, so anything could happen x

@Gracie2021 I think 4 eggs is still a really good number, even if it wasn't quite the 70% average fertilisation rate, hopefully they all continue to develop to day 3 and day 5. Sorry to hear you were feeling so poorly on the Saturday too.

I had my funding come through, and my first appointment with the nurse will be on April the 7th. I'm pretty excited as I could be starting stims quite soon! However, I have a few planned holidays and family events in April and May, so I'm thinking about delaying IVF until end of May/June... but I am also keen to just crack on. So I need to give this some serious thought.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 28/03/2022 09:26

@beckyCarlos sorry about the scan. Hopefully they have a new plan for you xx

@Gracie2021 are you feeling any better? I hope you get some good embryos.
