I'm not pregnant anymore

Well, I had five fantastic, ecstatic, scared, excited days of being pregnant. Then Saturday night I did another pg test (just to show off, and because one was sitting there on the bathroom shelf) and it was negative. Sunday morning I had did two more - both negative.

I went to the hospital, where they did a blood test and a scan. The blood test was positive, but they think it is picking up descending levels of HCG and that I will soon start bleeding. I have to go back Tuesday for restesting - not because they have any real hope that I can keep this pregnancy, but to check that I'm not retaining tissue.

As you can imagine, I am feeling completely devastated.

I am sure this post doesn't really belong under 'Conception', but I wanted my ttc compadres to know.

Tania2 · 15/11/2004 11:30

I wasnt sure if it meant that you were miscarring? Silly me. Sorry. Hope you feel better soon. (((((BIG HUGS)))))

lovinit · 15/11/2004 10:40

Hi Hester , I just wanted to send a hug over to you and let you know that my thoughts are with you.

wilbur · 15/11/2004 10:40

Oh hester, I am so so sorry, what a sad thing. I hope you are getting some tlc at home - take it easy and take care. xx

hester · 15/11/2004 10:20

Thank you all so much. I am so grateful that I have you lovely MNetters to turn to, since in RL almost no-one knew I was pg at all.

Jeddah, thank you darling. I know you are right, and that overall it is a positive sign that I am fertile. In some ways it makes the decision about whether to keep trying harder - as you know, I had decided to go for another three months then decide to finish. Now that I know I CAN get pg, it will make the decision about when to stop harder. But I'll worry about that later.

Tania lovey - why confused?

I do feel a little stronger today. Yesterday was truly terrible (not helped by stupid A&E doc's verdict on repeated negative tests: 'Um, it could be a blip?' Me: 'Is that possible?' Her: 'I don't know'. And she had got me gowned up and in bed to deliver that little gem of medical expertise! Thank god i was then seen by acute gynae unit, who couldn't have been nicer). Today I feel less pregnant, and tbh it will be less of a head to start bleeding now and be able to wish my baby godspeed.

Thank you all again for being there for me throughout all of this - it's been a lifeline. xxx

jeddah · 15/11/2004 10:03

hester..............

I am very shocked and extremely upset to hear your news! I can only imagine a small fraction of what you are going through! If I multiply this by 1000 I am sure I wouldn't even come near to it!

I know you don't want to hear this.....but until I did my midwifery degree, I never realised how common m/c is ...1:4 women miscarry and my dear friend it is always for a reason....things weren't right hest!........
I know its hard to look at the positive but at least you know you can get pregnant

My thoughs are with you...and you know we are all here for you!
