@kizzy97 @Peonies94 @Tinkerbell098 @jhodd @EvelynSalt starting this from those of us that are out this month and ready to go for December!

This part is nearly as bad as the TTW - waiting for AF to be over and to be able to crack on!

By my calculations we'll all know before Christmas if the next cycle has been a success for us - so hopefully either way happiness or sadness there will be lots of opportunities for lovely family time x

@MummyBear405 yes I use flo too and it's pretty accurate! CD9 for me now.

@kizzy97 yeh, they wouldn't do it if you were actually pregnant, just incase it stimulates the cervix. But you'll be totally fine beforehand.

@Theresamagicalplace thank you! Part of me was thinking that it won't be too different as the examinations you have with having a baby! But obviously you hear the horror stories and then slowly make yourself worry 😅

Ooo seems like you might have a shorter cycle this month? Either way hopefully this is your month!🤞

Theresamagicalplace · 30/11/2021 11:02

Got my first flashing smiley face on a clear blue ovulation test today....on cycle day 7 Hmm seems very early to me but I guess today's the start of the fertile window.

@kizzy97 I was terrified the first time I went for a smear after hearing stories of people needing gas and air and all sorts. Honestly it was so easy, when they ask you to drop your knees breathe out and relax every muscle and just focus on your breathing. If you've had a baby and the internal examinations that come with that then you'll manage this no problem! Good luck!

MummyBear405 · 30/11/2021 10:58

@mightbeyesmightbeno me too! Are you using any sort of app or tracker?

I've been using Flo and it's usually pretty good at predicting when AF is due so just using OPKs to be sure. If the app is right then I should ovulate around 8th Dec

kizzy97 · 30/11/2021 09:37

@mightbeyesmightbeno Sorry I should have specified I meant my smear 😅 In terms of conception and being pregnant I just get anxious that something will go wrong, when I was pregnant with DS I was horribly worried but I'm thinking that might have partially been because he's my first and I didn't fully know what to expect? But I know it's a common worry with many women as well.

What cd are you on now? xxx

MrsP21918 · 30/11/2021 08:29

Day 5 of AF for me (which is usually my last day) yet I’ve had awful cramps and sorry for TMI but is very heavy! This happened to be last month, a really light period for 4ish days and then suddenly got heavy day 5 and didn’t go away until day 7. Not sure what’s going on! Confused

mightbeyesmightbeno · 30/11/2021 08:15

First OPK this cycle this morning... nothing yet.

@kizzy97 horror stories in what way? Relating to conception or just in general? Soooo hard to do but honestly the best thing is to be relaxed and not tense!

OP posts:
kizzy97 · 30/11/2021 08:07

@mightbeyesmightbeno thank you for that reassurance! I'm meant to ovulate on Friday and then my smear is on Saturday so was worried I might be out! Just nervous now because I've heard lots of horror stories about having done, pretty sure I'll be fine though! xxx

LittleMysSister · 29/11/2021 17:12

@Moonshine160 Umm I think I am hydrated enough, I'm not a huge water drinker but I do drink a lot of water via tea, which apparently counts. And soft drinks :) Maybe I should try having more actual water Confused.

Tbh I find it so hard to judge the CM side of things, especially when DTD really regularly as (sorry for grimness!) obviously it's not usually only my CM down there!

The only thing I have noticed with any certainty is that around CD19&20 I have quite a lot of watery CM/discharge, to the point where it can feel like when your period comes on, you know? This has been about 36hrs after positive OPks, so I'm wondering if that is my ovulation, but I wouldn't say it's egg white-like at all :-.

Moonshine160 · 29/11/2021 16:36

Hi @LittleMysSister
I’m also trying evening primrose oil this month :) that’s reassuring to hear about the EWCM not necessarily needed to be noticeable. Do you stay hydrated enough? I don’t think I drink enough water which probably doesn’t help.
Thinking about it, some months I notice a fair amount of EWCM but the last two months we’ve been TTC I’ve hardly noticed any at all!

mightbeyesmightbeno · 29/11/2021 16:14

@oldermam that's so lovely that he's taken your 3 on like his own 🥰 And I guess if you are just going to see what happens then try your best to put this horrible period behind you once it's done and onwards and upwards / see what happens. X
@oldermam sorry to hear this :( I guess the change in hormones after the mirena is pretty big so hopefully now this period will be the start of back to normal cycle for you. But I'm sorry to hear you've got symptoms headaches and cramps etc. The ulcers, hands etc sound like you're really run down bless you. It's hard that OH is so excited when you feel so down but hopefully his optimism and excitement will keep you going though this rough time.

And I guess if he's away in a few days and it hasn't happened by then, it might give your body a bit of a chance to sort itself out and recover and get to good health.

So sorry to hear about the 7mcs, that must be really tough for you.

Do you have a time frame in mind for when you'll try until? I think mentally you have to be in the right place and ready and I suspect these hormones won't helping. I think just go with the flow - literally - at the mo and reflect and think once your period is over xx
Thank you.

No time frame in mind. I turn 40 in January and he is 40 in June. We've kinda said if we catch and it ends up in mc we won't try again but just keep trying I guess until we do. We've started vitamins. Both a healthy weight don't smoke and only drink socially. I think not knowing when he's going to be called back to work is playing on my mind too, he will be away for Christmas and my birthday. Normally he's gone back by now but had to delay it cos his dad is poorly.

He's would really like his own so I'm also worried he will resent me if it doesn't happen. He's promised me he won't, he's been amazing tbh! Taken my three on as his own too they all get on so well.

LittleMysSister · 29/11/2021 15:49

@Theresamagicalplace YES, I am also conscious of avoiding Dec/Jan birthdays as my SCs both have birthdays in those months, plus Christmas obviously. It is already so hard to afford, so we could really do without another birthday there if possible.

I waited until May to come off my pill for this reason, but don't know what I'll do when it comes to March/April (which I think is when conception would result in Dec/Jan) as we'd have been trying 9+ months then so probably wouldn't be wise to waste 2 months of trying. Hopefully I'll get a BFP before then so it won't be an issue crosses fingers .

Hey, I will join here too if that's OK :)

I am just coming off the back of an early MC (chemical I guess) at the start of this month, so just waiting for my period to arrive. Hoping it will be over the next couple of weeks so I can crack on with December. Wasn't sure I'd be up for cracking on again so soon as I struggled to adjust when I got my BFP, but feeling positive now :)

I did use PreSeed around fertile week the month we conceived, which was our 5th cycle since me stopping the pill. So I do think it helped. I'm a little bit wary of using it again just because in the back of my mind I'm worried about it helping out the weaker sperm and ending in another chemical, but I know loads of people have had successful pregnancies using it so I'm trying to push that out of my mind as I really do think it made a difference for us.

I am the same as @Moonshine160 in that I never notice any EWCM so I do think it could help me out. I also have some Evening Primrose Oil to try next cycle too to see if it changes anything. I've read it officially doesn't matter if you don't notice EWCM in your underwear or when wiping as it's likely still present inside but it can't hurt to give a helping hand.

mightbeyesmightbeno · 29/11/2021 15:30

@kizzy97

Only found out today didn't think I'd be having one yet as I'm not quite 25 yet...
You'll be fine (nursing hat on - use to perform smears). They normally call sometime in the 6 months before 25 depending on local capacity. No issues with TTC at all, and def a great idea to get done before being pregnant as otherwise they'll have to delay it. So good to get done! But honestly don't worry about it, it's the outside of your cervix x

I've had the mirena crash. It was taken out ten days ago, I bled the day after for three days. Assumed this was my period. Woke up every day to cramping and headaches. Feeling generally run down tbh (but work is also horribly understaffed atm (nicu nurse) and we had a sad death at the end of my shift yesterday morning and today, full blown period! Mouth ulcers, headache, cracked hands. I just feel poop and have wondered why I'm doing this all over again at my age 🥲 OH is so excited but I genuinely don't think it's going to happen for us, without the age thing I've had 7mcs over the years, though I have 3 boys too I went through a lot to get them. Add into the fact he's away for two months at a time and due to go away any day now. Just having a low day I think.

htay21 · 29/11/2021 13:38

Can I join?

2nd month of TTC for #1 baby.

Been using OPKs but they don't seem to be getting much darker and ovulation is meant to be tomorrow 😩 dtd every other day, and yesterday used pre seed and menstrual cup after (only kept in for a couple of hours, but hopefully helped)

I have a very high BMI so am worried this will impact our journey, but cycles are 28-30 days, I'm pretty confident I ovulate every month with no issues and taking all the right supplements 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm going for my first smear test on Saturday! Will this affect me ttc this cycle?

MummyBear405 · 29/11/2021 07:45

@Theresamagicalplace

Hi can I join this one too 🙈 going to end up annoying everyone by being on each thread haha. AF due tomorrow and a stark white test today so just waiting to start again. I'm already working out which months we have to take a break to avoid due dates around my firsts birthday and Christmas, does anyone else do this or do you just say fuck it and see what happens?

You're not alone! I'm a bridesmaid for my best friend in October next year so if we don't fall pregnant this month then we're going to have to skip January otherwise I'd be due on her wedding day! Confused

mightbeyesmightbeno · 28/11/2021 22:36

@Moonshine160 @Glago2017 @PoleFairy @kizzy97 best of luck all! I'm CD7 today and first DTD this cycle. So it begins! When we conceived my daughter I didn't do OPKs that month as was away on holiday so unlike other months when I'd tracked I have no idea! So going to try and go with roughly every other day from in a few days time to a week or so next period.
