@kizzy97 @Peonies94 @Tinkerbell098 @jhodd @EvelynSalt starting this from those of us that are out this month and ready to go for December!

This part is nearly as bad as the TTW - waiting for AF to be over and to be able to crack on!

By my calculations we'll all know before Christmas if the next cycle has been a success for us - so hopefully either way happiness or sadness there will be lots of opportunities for lovely family time x

@melbxldn that should have been my O day too but early according to borrowed test cassette (which is now in bin incase of next cycle!) it was today. So hoping to DTD once more tomorrow night / Monday just incase.

DH is also on some pretty strong anti-anxiety meds following a bit of a melt down this summer. He said to me this morning that he feels it's really affected his sex drive but also ability to come. So! That could be a factor in the future if it doesn't happen soon to try and have to address.

That’s all it takes - good luck! I think I’ll ov Tuesday so a few days behind you

mightbeyesmightbeno · 04/12/2021 07:09

Well @melbxldn once may have to do 😂 Just tried to wake DH up for some action before our toddler wakes up ... no chance 😂 I'm away this lunch time and not back until tomorrow afternoon so I'm going to have to keep EVERYTHING crossed that I have a 1 time miracle. As everyone says, it only takes one time... I'll just hope this is true for me this month. Let the TWW commence!

I think if you do twice after your solid smiley that’s still a great effort! I’m pretty sure the reader resets itself every cycle so I don’t think it should be impacted by your friends results assuming she stopped using it after her positive if she’s now pregnant!

mightbeyesmightbeno · 03/12/2021 14:34

A bit more EWM as well today so all ties in! Just annoyed that I haven't DTD in the last 5 days 😡 as have felt crappy. Last time we did it will be too long ago now for any survivors.

@LittleMysSister thanks, that's reassuring to hear that you also have O and then static with no flashing.

Will buy a new set next month if this month isn't successful but at least will have some spare test strips!

I guess I'll know when AF comes if it was accurate or not for the length of time between Smile and AF!

@mightbeyesmightbeno God the CB OPKs are so confusing aren't they?

I would say that your static smiley was genuine, since you had a O the day before. I'd have though hormone levels have to be pretty high for it to register a peak?

My only worry for you would be that the baseline hormones will be based on your friend's levels rather than yours, which will probably be different. But as I said, I've got one too which has only been used by me and I've only ever gone straight from O to static smile the 2 cycles I've used it. I do always start using it later than it says for my cycle length though tbh as it was so expensive, I don't want to use up 10 sticks on one cycle by starting so far before I usually ovulate.

mightbeyesmightbeno · 03/12/2021 13:41

@LittleMysSister @melbxldn thanks both.

I've tested the last 3 days and had empty circle all three days and then today a solid.

But I'm thinking from reading that potentially could be because the reader was passed on. It just seemed too good an opportunity not to take as there were 11 strips left in her pack but I didn't really think about it and that it might remember different levels from her last cycle.

So I feel I've really messed up this month as too late really now to buy a new kit / start again. App predicts O should be next Tuesday so I should get solid on Monday so I guess essentially only 3 days early.

So just going to go blind for the rest of the month now, won't test any more and will just pretend that the solids might have been mine and DTD as much as pos in the next week incase of false positive and actual O when app predicts. Without knowing for sure, it might actually do me some good and I might relax more as I don't even know when TWW will start!

@Bundaberg84 thanks I guess it's normal then. Wasn't sure as I've always had a peak after two flashing smileys

Bundaberg84 · 03/12/2021 12:24

@Tinkerbell098 I always have around 5 high days before I got a peak.

LittleMysSister · 03/12/2021 12:17

@Tinkerbell098 Ah ok...still lots of time for your peak before you give up on this month then :)

Tinkerbell098 · 03/12/2021 12:02

Sorry was meant to say if you see 9 high days*

Tinkerbell098 · 03/12/2021 12:01

@LittleMysSister this is what they say on the CB website:

Seen more than 9 High Fertility days?

If you see more than 9 High Fertility days you may wish to stop testing this cycle.

  • If you started testing on the correct day for your usual cycle length and you see 9 or more days of High Fertility, it is unlikely that you will see Peak Fertility in this cycle.
  • Occasionally some women have an LH surge that is too low for the test to detect or they do not ovulate during a cycle and therefore they don’t see Peak Fertility. This is not unusual and may happen in approximately 8% of cycles. If you do not see Peak Fertility for 3 consecutive cycles, we recommend you discuss this with your doctor.

seems that they suggest if you see 9 peak days, and you've tested early enough, it's unlikely you'll see a peak. but it can happen i guess!

Tinkerbell098 · 03/12/2021 11:47

@LittleMysSister hope so! I usually only get about 2 flashing before a solid, so was surprised I had a third today. I was hoping for a solid as this is the last day we get to DTD for this cycle as I'm away for a couple of weeks. Also, there's no sign of EWCM this month either, so something's really odd with my cycle this month.

LittleMysSister · 03/12/2021 11:35

@Tinkerbell098 I think you're meant to have a few days flashing aren't you? Prior to the static?

My impression was if you use it from the recommended day of your cycle (think it's different based on cycle length isn't it?) you should have empty, then flashing for a few days in the lead up to the peak to show you your fertile days, and then finally the static.

Tinkerbell098 · 03/12/2021 11:24

@mightbeyesmightbeno I agree with @melbxldn and @LittleMysSister I've had it go from empty to solid when I've tested too late, as it didn't have much of a baseline for oestrogen to compare against. This cycle however, I've tested early and got two empty ones, followed by three flashing and yet to see a solid. I feel like I've missed the peak. Has anyone else had this? I think they say if you get a flashing for a while, stop testing as you won't hit the peak that cycle?

LittleMysSister · 03/12/2021 10:36

@mightbeyesmightbeno I am under the impression that the CB OPKs with the smiley faces use your own individual baseline and the reader remembers is, so not sure you can pass a reader on?

However, I have also gone from O to static smiley both last cycle and this, so it can happen :) I think you only get the flashing smileys if you start using it a few days before your surge so that it can detect a gradual rise, if you only do it when you're already on top of your peak then it will just detect that.

I got a static smiley this week after a O the day before and have taken that as my peak.

melbxldn · 03/12/2021 09:33

@mightbeyesmightbeno I use these so can explain. If you got a solid smiley that is your LH surge, so you should ov next 24-72hrs.

When you use the reader the first time you ALWAYS get a negative, unless it is your LH surge and you’ll get a solid smiley straight away. Then the next day it measures it off your baseline and you get a flashing if your oestrogen has increased. You’ll never get a flashing first up because it needs to compare the previous reading. This suggests to me you started testing too late, if you’d done the day before as well you probably would have got a flashing the second day. That said, I’ve tested every day and sometimes just got a solid - that can happen if you get an oestrogen and LH surge quite close together. But as long as you get the LH surge youre good, the flashies just give you a heads up!

Tonight and tomorrow morning should be perfect timing

@Bundaberg84 welcome back!

@Annaxox

Hey girls, think I’m abit ahead of everyone here? 7/8dpo hoping to have a positive for December. Though I’m not feeling very hopeful. No symptoms at all so far. But then like I said we only dtd 3 or 4 days before I was supposed to ovulate Hmm wishing everyone here the very best of luck, and hoping you all get your BFP Grin
Not out until AF arrives! And dont forget that sperm can live for 5 days waiting to fertilise the egg so there always hope x

Hiya, I'm back, thanks for reserving a seat in this thread! I had to take a little break after AF arrived last cycle, thought about not tracking anything but decided against it. I think it would have made me even more nervous ;)
Did a bloodwork, OB-GYN was pleased with all results, so there's that. Even though I see very different results when it comes to the AMH - according to some sites my test result is good, according to others it's really bad, but I think my OB-GYN knows what he's doing. And the fact that I got pregnant twice this year is a good sign I guess.

I'm 2dpo today, so back to the 2ww. I have to be honest, even though I take my vitamins and whatnot but I really haven't been good when it comes to food and drinks. Christmas markets opened and I love me a mulled wine. But I feel like if I can't go out and have a glass of wine here or a mulled wine there, I will drive myself nuts.

Still no flashing smiley for me yet - CD10, which I'm quite pleased about as feel really crappy - cold / covid booster / lack of sleep = feel pretty terrible at the moment. Hoping by the weekend I feel better and this would be perfect timing!
