Entering into 8th cycle..

Entering into 8th cycle…ttc number 2.

Feeling defeated and deflated even though I know odds are still on our side really..
I already have a DD who is 3 years 9 months so very much feel time is of the essence. Just desperate for it to happen now.

Feel like either people seem to fall super fast or seem like 12 months plus and don’t find many “in the middle” types.

Ive fallen pregnant 1st cycle before. And then DD took 7 cycles. So hence why this failed 7th cycle seems like a miserable milestone!

Anyone welcome to keep me company. Sucks 😫

Thanks both. Going to order Impryl tonight I think and I also have some coQ10 he can start taking now. Plus the vitamin D and zinc. I spoke to a French fertility specialist (the same one who scanned me recently) who said to buy Gametix M. So I need to have a google of that, I imagine it’s a French brand but he said it’s the best. Who knows. Hate that it’s a 3 month wait now to see results. I guess at least medicine is so advanced now, if we do end up needing to go down the IVF route. It all just seems so far away when I’m so desperate for it to happen now!

Indianna2006 · 03/02/2022 16:16

@OK92 honestly I get it. Of course you’re going to feel deflated but all is not lost.

He has a good count and morphology. So there two pluses. Not all three aspects are bad. And sperm samples can change. I reckon with a few targeted supplements in 3 months or less his motility will be closer to normal and then he’d have a normal sperm sample.

Maybe get him taking the wellmen conception? It’s a general all rounder multi vitamin for men ttc and hear good things about that is fairly cheap.

I’ve been paying a bit more for what DH is taking but may swap to wellman if this goes on for much longer…

DH has been taking his for 4 months..so we’re only like a month into where they’d of had a max effect. So anxious to see what SA says and therefore..whether we get any luck from taking supplements. You have to wait for the changes to happen annoyingly..

@FlyOnTheWall89 how are you doing hun? I’ve heard good things about proxeed. Just isn’t cheap is it. But know fertility specialist seems to recommend it. If DHs comes back with issues I shall maybe be investing.

But yes as I said. Sooo many couple prob do fall with lower sperm parameters. They’d just never know. It’s not a final end of the line. It’s a snapshot in time.

(Says me when I have a meltdown next week - remind me of this ladies please)

FlyOnTheWall89 · 03/02/2022 15:59

Hi @OK92 - oooo it's so deflating. Not all is lost. The scores are not too bad and with some other supplements, you'll be able to get them up. Have a look into Proxeed and Impryl - I think for motility Impryl may be better. They're not cheap by any means, but as that is his only one that isn't perfect, I am sure you have a good chance still with some extra supplements. Definitely get the variocele checked out. @Indianna2006 is right, so many men have 'imperfect' sperm according to an analysis but so many couples probably achieve pregnancy before getting tested. Don't lose hope xx

OK92 · 03/02/2022 15:49

@Indianna2006 so he currently just takes vitamin D and zinc. The clinic have said to do another analysis in 6 weeks time, which we will do but I’d rather get an action plan in place beforehand. He is worried he has variocele so wants to get checked for that. His count was really high and morphology 5% so just above the normal % I think. He uses the spin bike a fair bit so I’ve told him he has to stop for the time being. Ugh so sad. And deflated.

Indianna2006 · 03/02/2022 15:35

@OK92 so sorry to hear that hun.
We’re the other parameters normal?
If it’s only motility, then they can be altered. An he isn’t drastically off parameters so maybe with some specific supplement it could make a big difference if the count and morphology is okay?

Does he take supplements atm? What has he been taking?

I feel like I know DHs sperm analysis is going to come back with something. But it is just stats. Lots of people with below average sperm still do get pregnant.

Had you of kept going for a year before tests. You could of for you all know of got lucky one month. And had never of known his motility was a bit low. 17% are still progressive and does only take one as they say. But yes it tends to take those people longer…

We’re you given any advice from the clinic?

Sorry 😩 I feel like I’ll be on next week feeling the same. DH already takes supplements but when you know what the exact issue is. Easier to tailor make it I think.

OK92 · 03/02/2022 15:22

@Indianna2006 @FlyOnTheWall89 Hi ladies, we had DH SA results back and safe to say I'm a bit of a wreck. Total motility was 23% and progressive motility 17%. These were both abnormal (should be above 40% and 30%). I am quite certain this is why things haven't happened yet and don't really know where to go from here, just wish I'd found out sooner. So sad and due to ovulate within the next few days and now thinking what is the point :(

OK92 · 02/02/2022 12:09

@Indianna2006 I know what you mean. I’m already feeling totally un-optimistic and I’m not even in the TWW yet! Due to ovulate this weekend. Haven’t been using OPKs yet but getting so tempted.

Only new things I’m trying this cycle are - not tracking (so far lol) and not drinking (read a few old threads whereby people with PCOS noted they conceived when not drinking as apparently alcohol can alter hormone and oestrogen levels (clutching at straws here!!) and I did conceive DD when doing ‘dry Jan’. Thing is I don’t really drink loads anyway so who knows. Just anxiously awaiting SA results too.

Indianna2006 · 02/02/2022 11:39

@OK92 yes I usually ovulated CD13/14. So does come round fast ish. Are you nearly fertile week?

How is everyone else doing?

@FreckledMouse did I see you got your BFP in another thread?! Yay congrats. When did you test??

DH went for his SA this morning. They said results are 7 working days max. So we should know some point next week.

In 2ww so praying this could be our cycle but not convinced after 9 already failed cycles.

Xx

Defo have fingers crossed for this one. I was hoping I'd get lucky month 6 (going by statistics) but it's nit to be. Expecting cycle day 1 any day now. Good luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼

OK92 · 31/01/2022 14:08

@Indianna2006 eek the TWW for you already! That came round quickly. Hopefully lots of distractions if your DD’s birthday is approaching.

I think SA will be back start of next week or maybe end of this week if we are lucky. Anxious to get the results.

@FlyOnTheWall89 I’ve not heard of a follicle scan before. Could you get that done via NHS or would it be private?

@goingcrazyttc I’m cycle 7 too. Fingers crossed this is the one 🤞🏼

Indianna2006 · 31/01/2022 11:22

Welcome @goingcrazyttc I hope your stay here is short and sweet! 🤞🏼

Don’t think we ever anticipate it taking this long..meh!

On we plod though xx

OP posts:
goingcrazyttc · 31/01/2022 11:03

Hi all. Can I also join please. Just about to start cycle 7 TTC. I have two children already who are a bit older. I didn't anticipate it taking this long.

Indianna2006 · 30/01/2022 17:56

@FlyOnTheWall89 I have heard good things about the proxeed so fingers crossed. And sperm can change positively which is a good things. Let’s hope it’s enough. But no I know what you mean. It can take 12 months with two perfectly healthy ppl. But also ppl who do have issues still sometimes fall easy ish it within 2 years and sometimes there isn’t a rhyme or reason.

I’m feeling okay about them. Glad we’re getting some but I guess anxious incase DH swimmers have changed etc. but we can only wait and see.
Trying to still just think we just need time etc as I’m older than I was 5 years ago. But also you do keep wondering well why hasn’t it happened easy.

Goes between logic and non logic tbh.

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 30/01/2022 17:42

@Indianna2006 no count was low but not terrible and morphology was extremely low, but motility very high and all other measures normal. I hope with Proxeed and some other stricter changes, this will change in time. It's just even when everything is perfect it can take so long to get pregnant so I don't feel like anything will happen anytime soon and I'm not getting younger considering it would only be baby #1.

I'm also now a bit worried about my AMH because I think for 32/33 it's actually 'low'. I hope given all my other results that the quality is good. I'm wondering if I should have a follicle scan? Has anyone had one before?

How are you feeling about the tests @Indianna2006 ?

@OK92 if they have said it is probably mild, I think you should be okay. It seems more common than you'd think - it is a relief you are ovulating normally etc . Fingers crossed with the suggested meds, it may help things x

Indianna2006 · 30/01/2022 11:30

@OK92 I am now in 2ww. About 2dpo. Will be due AF around my DD’s 4th birthday 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have polycysitc ovaries before I tried for DD. But not the syndrome. Just extra follicles. But I fell straight away. And then cycle 7 after the mc. So it didn’t change anything for me.

Subsequently after pregnancy when I’ve had scans since I no longer have the extra follicles. Or didn’t anyway. So goes to show it can change 🤷🏻‍♀️ And if you ovulate and have fairly normal cycles then your hormones are prob normal etc. my cycles never changed I just had terrible skin and it’s why I went for checks and they found I had all these extra follicles. But didn’t stop me conceiving at all!

Fingers crossed for sperm SA. When will he get the results. My DH is off for his Wednesday. And they said 7 working days x

@FlyOnTheWall89 I’m so sorry to hear. What an emotional rollercoaster for you 😢 I really hope you’re doing OK and know that you will get your BFP eventually, and now you’ve had initial tests you can target the issue and move forward. I understand you may be quiet on here, some of us may be around for a while (hopefully not but who knows!) so we are here for a chat whenever you need it.

@moonpie32 massive congrats - on cycle 12! Gives me such hope! Hope you are doing well.

@Indianna2006 hope you’re doing ok? You must be in the fertile week this week 🤞🏼

CD13 here. I had a private consultation and scan which indicated I have polycystic ovaries as they could see lots of follicles. Though I do ovulate so hopefully not a big concern, I think/hope it is mild as I don’t have any of the other main symptoms (except longer cycles). I’m now taking inositol under their recommendation and a higher strength folic acid. DH is awaiting SA results.

Teachermummy83 · 28/01/2022 20:44

@OK92, tell me about it!

@flyonthewall89 sorry you're having such rotten luck, that's tough. I totally get why a break might help.

@Indianna2006, yes, will do - not giving up yet!!!! Determination has got me this month, and we managed lots of DTD so I'm ever hopeful........ 🤞

@Moonpie32, huge congratulations, BFPs after a long while of trying give me hope..... Hope you're well and it's a smooth journey for you xx

In other news, I visited my cousin today who had her IVF baby just before Christmas. He's now 8 weeks old and has passed his due date which was Tuesday. We had a lovely visit, including a chat about their journey and donor situation and our long journey of trying. We spoke at length about how hard it is when other folk around you are popping out babies, whilst you struggle. Made me feel loads better, none of us are alone in this, and it's good to talk openly about it. Seeing them also reminded me that babies are possible in all sorts of ways. We just need to keep trying and moving forward along whichever path we're trying xx

Indianna2006 · 28/01/2022 16:54

@moonpie32 congratulations! Lovely to see a BFP cycle 12. Well deserved!

@OK92 hope you’re okay hun.

@Teachermummy83 keep going. Any month could be the month.

@FlyOnTheWall89 I’m so sorry to hear that hun. That was not the news you were hoping for. What were his results if you don’t mind me asking? We’re his other parameters normal? As I believe if morphology is sometimes low if count is high it almost makes up for it. But obv depends on the other parameters and numbers etc.

I can only imagine that’s probably hit him hard. Men deal with stuff harder than us women on that front I think. Stranger things have happened and people can fall pregnant with lower sperm SA. But it can obv take longer than normal.
It’s no consolation. Medicine is amazing nowadays. And you will get your much awaited baby. But this procress is very difficult and distressing when you can’t choose it when you’re ready.
Sending you big hugs. If there’s anything I can do at all.

Let me know. Always here to lend an ear.

DH is off for his SA on Wednesday. And my bloods Friday next week. So hopefully we know more than too. I am expecting something similar maybe. But only time will tell.

Congratulations @moonpie32 - really great to see a BFP at 12 months.

Hope everyone else is okay. News my end is pretty dismal. Terrible SA results, mainly in the morphology area so we are a very long way from a BFP. We have been referred to a fertility clinic now although may have a private consultation to get things moving. My lovely DH feels utterly shi*e about it - we have ordered ALL THE SUPPLEMENTS and hope we can improve things a bit in the next few months, if not it is most likely ICSI for us. Will watch from afar but might be a bit quieter on here while we work out what is next x

moonpie32 · 27/01/2022 21:17

Hi @OK92!

AF hasn't showed and I got my BFP tonight. I was hesitant to respond as I know people have been here a while and are still trying. That's great that your family know and you can chat with them. Means they are there if you need them etc!

OK92 · 27/01/2022 18:48

@FlyOnTheWall89 that’s great the results of your AMH were normal.

@moonpie32 hello! I hope AF didn’t show for you! I also get the ‘when are you having number two’ comments constantly. Puts me off socialising tbh as each month goes on without a BFP I find it harder to deal with. Thankfully my family are in the loop and are v sensitive about it so I mostly chat to them about it.

@Teachermummy83 ugh I know. Little did I know how HARD it actually is to get pregnant!!! 😮‍💨

Hope everyone else is doing well. I’m CD10 so approaching fertile week next week. As it stands I’m not tracking or temping this month and planning to follow CM and do it every other day around expected ovulation.

Teachermummy83 · 23/01/2022 23:26

Congratulations ladies, 2 BFPs since I last checked in, amazing!!! There's hope for us all, 2022 has started well so far! 🤞🤞🤞
I'm trying not to check in too often, I get myself stressed so trying to keep than minimal. Trying to find time to DTD with an insomniac 2 year old is as much stress as I can handle 🥴 !
Thats us officially hit a year of properly trying/ no contraception/ no breastfeeding..... Not a nice milestone but just starting our 2 week wait so ever hopeful for this month.

As a random question - Do you ever wonder why we stressed so much about contraception when we were younger? All the pills, hormones, condoms, morning after pills 😳 and now it's the blooming polar oposite - we stress about cycles, dates, have perfectly timed, constant DTD and still nothing! We just can't win.

moonpie32 · 23/01/2022 20:46

Hi ladies!

Mind if I join? I know I'm late to the party!

TTC #2 cycle 12 but been trying since last a March (my cycles vary from 24 days to 27 days) currently on CD 26 and expected AF today. Nothing. I'm currently sat with very very mild cramps and my boobs are sore so expected her to show very soon. Took 8/9 cycles with DC# 1 who was 3 end of November.
We haven't told anyone and the amount of comments we get "when you having another" etc. Hmm
Feeling frustrated now and so glad but sad to see so many others in the same boat as us.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 23/01/2022 08:37

Hi guys, just popping on. My bloods came back for AMH. It was 10.7 which is indicated as normal on the paperwork. Going to do some of my own research too. X

Kiaa · 22/01/2022 09:22

@Solven congratulations exciting news 🎉🌟
