Pregnant again after 3 miscarriages

I’m 40 and had never managed to conceive before this year. Unfortunately, I’ve had nothing but heartache, losing each one in early miscarriages, 3 since January 2021. The longest I managed to carry for was 8 weeks, but only as it a missed miscarriage.
I just found out yesterday that we’re pregnant again, and I am absolutely terrified of miscarriage happening again.
I’ve been given cyclogest which I started last night and I’m waiting for the nurse to let me know if I need to use aspirin or anything.

I just wanted to share the news with people really who might understand my feelings, I have a real sense of dread with underlying excitement that we’re pregnant but the sheer terror and fear that I shouldn’t get excited.

@Smiler79 can I ask how you got ahold of the everything apart from aspirin? Thank you 🙏🏼

I totally understand. I’ve had 3 mmc late first trimester and a chemical. When I got my last positive I wasn’t even excited just meh it will end . Bfp = heartache.
I did a big immune protocol this time though and other meds. 75mg baby aspirin, clexane, progesterone, prednisone. I think the prednisone made the difference for me as took all rest before. Wishing you success this time. Take one day at a time. I found not looking at scan until 12 weeks really helped me 💐

I took aspirin in my third pregnancy after two miscarriages. I'm now 22weeks. Dr actually advised against it but i Ignored her. Not suggesting you do the same but it may or may not be the reason this pregnancy has progressed better than my others.

Thank u @Pengiundisco, it’s nice to know that there are people who understand. Congratulations on ur pregnancy, I really wish u the best with it

I think it’s really hard for friends and family to totally understand how scary it is for me right now.
Every time I go to bathroom I expect to see blood and I just can’t look forward to it being ok as that isn’t my experience. I’m just expecting bad news and then worry that I’m going to make a miscarriage happen by worrying so much!

Somehow I need to try and forget about it for a few weeks so they don’t drag by but that’s easier said than done! It’s in the front of my mind the whole time

Hi @Sarahsammy. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I was in your position a few years ago with three miscarriages in a row. It was a horribly anxious time and I know the emotions you are going through.

I was referred to the NHS recurrent miscarriage team but nothing showed up in the tests so it was put down to bad luck. However they told me to take aspirin (75mg) and cyclogest in all future pregnancies. I did, and the next one stuck and is now a tractor mad toddler Smile.

I've just found out I'm pregnant again today and immediately all the worries are returning. Last time I couldn't relax until 12 weeks so I think I'm going to have to just keep myself distracted and my fingers crossed. I'll probably pay for a private scan at 7 weeks (maybe even 6 weeks, I'll be desperate to know).

I really hope it works out for you.
