Hi all

Just wondered if there was anyone else starting out now that wanted to keep me company?

Background is that I’ve been with my partner 3 years and I have one 5 year old from a previous relationship who DP treats as his own ( though he does see his dad).

I came off the injection in summer as it was making me fat and miserable, and last month we weren’t as careful as we should have been and we thought I was pregnant (possibly a CP) as several faint positives before AF.

Anyway DP now wants to try which is absolutely lovely and I’m so on board and excited.

I’ve been tracking my cycles as a contraceptive method so I know I’m due to ovulate tomorrow or the next day.

I would appreciate any advice and support as my little one was conceived on the pill so I didn’t get any of this excitement - but equally I don’t really know what I should and shouldn’t be doing.

:)

Afternoon ladies, how is everyone?

Been doing my ovulation tests for over a week now and got my peak yesterday so we dtd last night, have such bad cramps in my right ovary area today though, much more noticeable than when I have my period as I don’t even know I have them, it’s all new I guess after being on the pill for about 20years!!!

anyone else get cramping/stabbing pains during ovulation?

Now for the waiting game 🤞

Dann186 · 24/11/2021 12:32

Afternoon ladies! Started my clear blue ovulation sticks yesterday - started on day 8 as I have no idea of my cycle length as it fluctuates monthly! Yesterday just a plain round circle but, this morning, I had the flashing smiley face which means it has detected my oestrogen levels are on the rise! My partner is due back from working away today so the prefect timing! Very excited although still cautious I may not actually get the solid smiley face for the LH surge! Have a clomid scan tomorrow to check my ovaries haven’t been overstimulated and haven’t swelled so fingers crossed 🤞

Have any of you lovely ladies who already have a child, used the clear blue advanced ovulation kit and fallen pregnant without having the solid smiling face but had the flashing one? Thank you 😊

@Coalcraft ohh how exciting! I must say i havent had a withdrawal bleed at all and i dont think im getting one anytime soon as my symptoms has completly fade away as well. It would be nice to keep each other updated!

CoalCraft · 23/11/2021 13:24

@Babydancing2020

Yeah, sounds like we are in a similar situation! I did have a withdrawal bleed that started on maybe day 2 of no pill? Though it only lasted about 36 hours. Before that my last "period" on the pill was about two weeks prior and pretty light.

Have to say most of my withdrawal symptoms have cleared up now - no sore boobs or headaches. I'm looking out for ovulation symptoms but honestly don't really know what to expect as I've never really paid that much attention before!

Let me know how you get on xx

Beck3115 · 23/11/2021 09:33

@Beth262 morning lovely! I have done another cheapie and can’t see anything like that last night and I used fmu this time…

Also did and frer, nothing but the classic indent line. I really appreciate your helpfulness though x

Sorry @Beck3115 maybe I'm just getting carried away on your behalf 😂
In all seriousness though is it really that out there? I've seen lots of stuff on her around false negatives but very little on false positives though no doubt they do happen. You said you haven't long come off the injection so your cycles could be completely out of whack. And there was the pain and spotting you had 4/5 days ago too.
If it was me I'd buy another test (or two) and see what they say so I'd have a much clearer answer.
Everything crossed for you in the meantime 😘 x

Beck3115 · 22/11/2021 22:23

@Beth262 surely not yet I’m so confused, I did the opks and based on them plus pains I’d say it’s just a dodgy test??

I’ve never used these before so next time I need a wee I’ll try another

That's defo a line! Congratulations @Beck3115 🤗 xx

Beck3115 · 22/11/2021 21:49

Ummm is this dodgy? I was certain I’m only like 3 dpo I just felt sick and obviously the irrational bit of my brain was like do a test…

Haha not knocking wfh at all! Just wish it was in my own home atm 😂 Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better x

Babydancing2020 · 22/11/2021 18:53

Hi @CoalCraft i think our story is quite similar. Ive been on the mini pill for almost a year my son turns 1 in 2 weeks. And ive been off the pill since 8 days ago. Ive had some head aches and little cramps here and there but no withdrawal bleed or anything that makes me think im ovulating. Although my last "period" on the pill looked like a real period since before i started the pill so maybe i'll get a period around that time which should be in about 2 weeks. I'd be nice to hear from you!

CoalCraft · 22/11/2021 13:21

@Beck3115 I'd only been on the pill about a year, since shortly after DD was born. I'm hoping ovulation and things start up quickly as they did last time. I keep thinking I'm getting ovulation symptoms but it probably is just withdrawal. I've had sensitive boobs, headache and tenderness in my side among other things. I've also had a lot of germs though, too, so it might not all be hormonal.

@Beth262 Hey, don't knock WFH! I've been there and honestly prefer it! I'm still feeling a bit fragile but much better, thank you xx

Beck3115 · 22/11/2021 11:27

@Beth262 that cracked me up! Just turn your camera off and they’ll never know… 😂😂

You both sound like you have interesting and worthwhile jobs! I'm embarrassed to say I'm a civil servant wfh and with zoom could probably make it to birth without anyone knowing 😂

Are you any better today @CoalCraft? x

Beck3115 · 22/11/2021 09:56

@CoalCraft that sounds like a really interesting job!

How long had you been on the pill for before you came off it? Are you having any withdrawal symptoms? X

CoalCraft · 22/11/2021 08:40

@Beck3115 Ah yeah, different situation! I'm an industrial chemist and obviously some chemicals are too dangerous to risk exposure while pregnant, but others are completely harmless, so it's just a case of getting on projects with the harmless ones.

No idea about dpo! I came off the pill 9 days ago I could on theory be up to 9 dpo if I ovulated that very day, but that's very unlikely. Most likely I haven't ovulated at all yet!

Beck3115 · 22/11/2021 07:15

@CoalCraft I hope you feel better soon, that’s not what you need! How many dpo are you?

I have no choice unfortunately as I work on the emergency services and the second you’re pregnant you’re not allowed to do response tasks anymore or wear body armour. If you kept it to yourself you’d put the baby at serious risk.

My plan if we are lucky enough to get a bfp is to tel my two wingwomen and my sergeants and fabricate an injury that would get me on a desk for the first 12 weeks!

Unfortunately the second we take our body armour off everyone already starts asking if you’re pregnant. 🙄

Bleurgh, was randomly sick in the night which is very unlike me. If there was any chance of being pregnant I might be excited but it would be literally impossible to be far enough along for symptoms yet. Think I've just picked up DD's tummy bug Sad I just want to curl up in a corner!

We won't be telling a soul about ttc /pregnant until after a 12 week scan. I don't like the idea of people wondering if anything's happened yet and if I were to sadly miscarry I would hate having to tell people. There were a few bad signs in my first pregnancy and the thought that I might have to give bad news would have added to my distress. Thankfully things turned out okay!

That's just how we are though, we're quite private people, at least irl. Completely understand why others might want people to know for the support.

@Beck3115 I'm a bit similar in that I can't do some duties at work while pregnant. Last time I managed to engineer it such that I had only safe tasks to do before I told my manager at 12 weeks, but if I can't do that myself next time I might have to tell her and she may have to tell a few others. I'm not thrilled about that but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Welshgal85 · 21/11/2021 22:19

Hope everyone is having a good weekend 😊 my healthy eating has gone off track this weekend so trying to not to beat myself up too much about it! Have had a few wines tonight too watching Adele (how amazing is she btw?!) Going to try and pick it up again tomorrow and go for another run.

I’ve started taking my folic acid now too. I’ve told a few friends that we are going to ttc in January as figure I will need the emotional support. We haven’t told family about it as that feels like an extra level of pressure so won’t tell them until something actually happens!

Beth262 · 21/11/2021 22:12

Gosh that sounds intriguing! x

Beck3115 · 21/11/2021 21:57

That sounds less than ideal. 🤞🤞 for escaping there in January then!

A couple of work friends because I need allies to give me a cover story at work - if I get pregnant I have to stop normal duties straight away. None of my family know though x

Beth262 · 21/11/2021 21:46

It certainly won't be before Christmas unfortunately. We're hopeful for the beginning or middle of January 🤞 It's definitely a challenge. Let's just say we have different levels of cleanliness and different views on how to parent!

My best friend knows we're trying. And that's only cause I had a teary moment last week and the recent CP came out. I'm quite a closed book. How about with you? Do any of your family or friends know you're trying too? x

Beck3115 · 21/11/2021 21:06

God love you do you have any timescale for completing? That sounds tiring at best.

I know I promised I wouldn’t start watching for any little sign, but here we are.

Do any of your family or friends know you’re trying? X

Just exhausted so think I've picked up DS sniffles a bit too easily. The joys of creche! And we're currently staying with in-laws as we've sold our house and the one we're buying is in a different stage in the chain. We're living out of one room so sleep for me, DP or DS isn't the best at the moment, we're all like zombies a bit! Plus my in-laws have a 3yo in a different creche so multiple sets of creche germs flying around the house! 😭

Glad to hear the spotting and pain seems to have been a one off. I think we're all guilty of overthinking things when TTC! The worry and symptom spotting is enough to drive any of us mad!! 🤪 x

Beck3115 · 21/11/2021 19:44

@Beth262 bless you, what’s been the matter?

No more bleeding it was just that one little bit and only twinges down low which is probably still to do with ovulation and I’m probably thinking too much about it! X
