Just a thread for any ladies ttc after a miscarriage! Nice to get some support from people going through the same thing. So I had a MMC at ten weeks nearly three weeks ago now. I'm still getting faint positive on tests. My ovulation tests are still all over the place possibly due to the HCG still being in my system. So not totally accurate right now. So I'm currently stuck in limbo land either waiting for ovulation or my period 🤔 any ladies want to join the journey?!?!

I put the backache down to the lumbar puncture I had the week before

Confusedmumof4maybe5 · 08/01/2022 18:17

Confusedmumof4maybe5 · 08/01/2022 18:17

I wasn’t due to test till Wednesday the only thing that made me was light pink spotting me nachache

Hopingforarainbow27 · 08/01/2022 18:15

I'm feeling so down today. I just think it's never going to happen. I'm not due to test until Wednesday but I haven't felt the pulling sensation I got with my other positives :( just getting the odd twinge

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 18:15

@Skl2021 so sorry to hear this...maybe take a step back. Have a few drinks tonight...what dpo are you? I ovulated late this cycle. Bet your covid has set you back xx

Skl2021 · 08/01/2022 17:42

@confusedmumof4maybe5 congratulations hope this is a sticky bean ✨🤞🙌

Wow this thread is moving fast! Welcome to all the newbies. Sorry you are all going through this horrible time 💐

@calimc83 I'm having a terrible day again. Just taken one after work and it's the same. Maybe even lighter I'm so fed up with it all feel like stoping it now. It's just messing me around and my emotions are all over. Why can't my body just do what it's told 🤦 I need a stiff drink or ten. This month is just too much

Horrible. I hope it all settles and that you, me, everyone on the thread has good news and soon.

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 14:36

@Ganesh2022 Yep! 4 days of proper bleeding, then 10 days of spotting! Thought it would never end 🙈 x

Ganesh2022 · 08/01/2022 14:15

calimc83 as, in, period lasted 14 days?!

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 13:46

@Ganesh2022 I think if you're over 9 weeks then they like you to stay in, incase of a haemorrhage. If you were around the 5 weeks mark they'd probably give you the tablets to take home I think....but not 💯 so you'd have to check with them. I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this. It's the worst. I've only started with the OPKs as I wanted to get back to TTC straightaway and didnt know how to track anything after the MC...my first AF was 14 days 😬 x

Ganesh2022 · 08/01/2022 12:51

...but now that I have no idea what my cycles will be like, I'll be back to testing early lol. I think that only worked with consistent cycles. :/

Ganesh2022 · 08/01/2022 12:49

...something that did help feel more in control was that after a few months I stopped testing early. It was driving me crazy. I only tested after period was a day late. Much easier said than done, I know, I just wanted a conclusion either way and had spent too many months squinting at lines!

Ganesh2022 · 08/01/2022 12:42

@handbagsandholidays so sorry this happened to you over the holidays; I thought life couldn't get any better after a bfp over xmas only for it all to come crashing down. Sucks! in terms of how to stop oneself from going crazy...no idea! Looking for the same answers. I'm quite ruled by emotions in general tbh. When ttc I've tried to not get sucked into ovulation tests, etc, etc, as I thought it would stress me out more, but honestly I was just as stressed without all that stuff (though my wallet was fatter I'm sure!). It's hard to want something very badly and have very little control. When it was taking us longer than we were "used to" (had been incredibly lucky in the past), I did get myself checked out as well as my husband as, at 38, I didn't feel I had time to plug away at it only to find out years later something wasn't right that could've been "fixed". I found it useful to have as much information as I could.

Ganesh2022 · 08/01/2022 12:31

@calimc83 thanks for that info, I figured with Covid etc they'd make you go home; they let you stay in hospital? I'd so prefer that. The thought of bleeding at home, with kids etc., not knowing what to expect, is horrific. I'm so early (5.4) that--tmi but...I can't help but think, how much can there possibly be to come out...but I've sadly googled a fair bit (very smart of you to stay off!). I know it might sound cold, but I wish there was a re-set button that, when this happened women could, if they wanted to, press it, and it resets the body and, bam, you can try again.

Confusedmumof4maybe5 · 08/01/2022 10:39

I spoke to the midwife I was under last month she advised I retest in two weeks. I did contact the early pregnancy unit but may ask the doctor as I need to speak to them anyway

Sparklesurprise29 · 08/01/2022 10:37

Thanks @pameladoov, the uncertainty is so hard after a MC!! Hoping you're okay💖 it really does feel like a rollercoaster of emotions☹

@skl2021 and @calimc thank you!💖 definitely going to see this month as a fresh start! I definitely agree with it being hard DTD to a schedule! The month I fell pregnant we'd been doing SMEP without realising it 😂 except we had a 5 day break after what I predicted as ovulation to give DH a break😅 still worked!

@confusedmumof4maybe5 so exciting!! Those tests definitely look really positive! Can you get a GP appointment/talk to early pregnancy unit to get your blood taken to see what your levels are to give you some peace of mind? 💖

@handbagsandholidays I had a natural MC, got mine exactly 28 days after I passed the sac, spotting/bleeding had started 6 days before💖

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:39

@Confusedmumof4maybe5 I can totally understand why you'd be nervous xx

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:38

@Confusedmumof4maybe5 ohh ok not to worry! Exciting news xx

Confusedmumof4maybe5 · 08/01/2022 08:23

Honestly not sure how many dpo I am I’m very nervous I hadn had a monthly yet since my miscarriage last months

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:15

@Skl2021 Hope u are ok this morning? Yep I was thinking the same thing...you read so much about MC, fertility after them etc etc..which probs doesn't help 🙈 I've just spent 15 mins down a rabbit hole on Mumsnet about resting heart rate and BFP's...I'm absolutely determined not to fall down this particular rabbit hole as it's just something else to stress about 😫 xx

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:12

@Confusedmumof4maybe5 Huge congrats!! 🥳 how are u feeling? How many DPO are u? X

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:11

@handbagsandholidays welcome! And so sorry for your loss xxx

calimc83 · 08/01/2022 08:10

@Ganesh2022 Gosh it's so so hard isn't it. Mine are only 4 and 2...it's incredibly hard looking after little ones when you are going through a MC. In the first week or so my husband had time off so he could help if I needed to go upstairs, lie down/binge watch Netflix and have a good cry. Sometimes I would cry a little in front of my 2 but being so young ( and my 4 year old lacks empathy I think 🙈) they would just stare and ask why, I'd just say I had a poorly tummy. They didn't know I was pregnant. Then when I had time to myself I could really let myself cry...
With regards to management I had medical management, it wasn't particularly great but no horror stories from me ( I deliberately stayed off Google and went with the info provided by the hosp). I decided against surgery as kind of thought if it as a last resort? And I think they mentioned slightly more risks ( infection) and that I'd need a General Anaesthetic. But I understand some people just want it over with.... I stayed in for 2 nights with medical management, had my own room/toilet. Could have someone with me 24/7 if needed. Pain was hard, but not unbearable and they are good with pain management there. Only negative was that not everything came out and I had a little bit of retained material. That took another few weeks to pass ( went after first AF). Hope this helps...anything u want to know just ask..
Like you - I have 2 and feel incredibly lucky to have my 2, but as you say what the heart wants....
Thinking of you xx
