Hi all!

We were getting to the end of the previous thread, so thought it’s best to start a new one.

A quick catch up I think mainly everyone on the old thread is as 12 months + TTC.

Newbies are always welcome.

Just sharing our journeys, supporting each other when possible, and having somewhere to moan and let it all out

I’ve been quiet during the 2WW, one because I’ve not had any notifications and two because I try to keep my mind off the 2WW.

@LA9610- that puppy is just adorable!!

Hope everyone is okay and had a nice weekend so far. We went out for a lovely afternoon tea yesterday. Far too much cake though!

apwilso · 30/01/2022 08:47

How's everyone on this chilly Sunday!

I've just done my morning Cb monitor and it is showing high day for ovulation. I'm in utter shock that I'm only on day 13 and that's happened as I thought I was high/ovulating around day 18-21 bracket. No wonder I've not got pregnant when I've got it so off by assuming! Come off the conceive plus vitamins as they have definitely messed my cycle up as well!

xoJellyBean · 29/01/2022 22:59

@LA9610 awk those pics are just so adorable πŸ₯° we found both our labs easy enough to train, they're such an intelligent breed. Although they cast alot 🀣

Fra1991 · 29/01/2022 22:03

@AZ1992X I can imagine the time drags big time. Did you get a date for a scan?

We were out for a walk today and some lunch. I got spotting tonight so I just want to stay in best the rest of the weekend. Why does it have to be harder everytime 😣😣

What about everyone else?

AZ1992X · 29/01/2022 06:54

@Amy259 Thank you ❀️. Time defo is really going slow, I’d do anything just to fast forward a few weeks but apart from that I’m doing ok just a little anxious. Had a chat with a midwife and she was so so lovely and reassuring. She also said what most of you guys said there’s nothing I can do so just try make sure I look after myself and rest.

What’s everyone’s plans for the weekend?, anyone doing anything nice?

X

Bundaberg84 · 28/01/2022 15:50

@LA9610 don't worry! Mine is a mix, they are what they are, a mixed bag :) she has German shepard and Husky as well as Bulldog. All not the easiest dogs. Stubborn. I used to have a Golden Retriever, they are so gentle and the best thing, they do everything for food. Labrador are the same basically. Best trait!

LA9610 · 28/01/2022 15:25

@Fra1991 - don't worry at all, I like to be prepared for the worst haha. I'm a bit scared not going to lie but just because I don't really know what to expect, but i'm sure it will get easier with time and effort!

@Bundaberg84 - that's fair enough! That's the little bit that scares me is I don't know what type of dog Ollie will be but hopefully a good one haha.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon, mine is honestly going so slow. I went back to 'work' yesterday because I was feeling better but today I'm feeling crap again and time is passing so sloooowly. Just want it to be 5pm already :(

Bundaberg84 · 28/01/2022 14:28

@LA9610 aaahhh he's the cutest! Also I love the name you picked.
Well yes, I don't think I would have had three dogs if it was just me. But it also depends on the dog. One of our dogs was the easiest dog you could imagine. She was so relaxed and gentle, she didn't really like going out a lot, she just loved hanging out on the sofa, sunbathing on the balcony and having belly rubs and treats. She was more like a teddy bear actually. The second dog was really intelligent and also more or less a beginner-friendly dog that was just happy to please. My dog on the other hand, the one we still have, is a bit of a handful. Strong character, not easy to train, doesn't like children, doesn't want to be alone, has an energy level of a Tasmanian devil. Love her to pieces though, and all three of them were really great together.

Fra1991 · 28/01/2022 13:40

@LA9610 ah he is the cutest!! Sorry I hope I didn’t come off as patronising but I had a friend get a dog after me and she was like β€˜why didn’t you tell me how hard it is’ but I think it was mostly because I was a bit embarrassed at how tired I was and then it turns out most people are the same!! But it’s also totally worth it!! They are the best!

LA9610 · 28/01/2022 13:13

Thanks everyone 😊 honestly over the moon about our choice. Obviously I know it will be hard work etc as I want to make sure we train him as well as we can but I'm so looking forward to having a companion when DH is offshore as it honestly gets so lonely sometimes.

@Bundaberg84 πŸ˜‚ haha I know, here is another couple for good measure. He is getting bigger and darker 😍 I love his colour πŸ₯° Wow 3 dogs is a lot! Did you ever find that too much? Aww, if she really won't appreciate a pup then maybe worth waiting a bit.

@LA9610 OMG how could you not share pictures of this cutie! How adorable! Now I got puppy fever again. We were thinking about getting a puppy, we used to have three dogs (husband had two when we met and I had one), now "only" one, she's 14 and doesn't like puppies so I don't think we would do her a favour.

Amy259 · 28/01/2022 08:38

@AZ1992X I had originally booked one as soon as you could at the private place near us to make sure it was in the right place because I had a niggle on my right side, so 6 weeks, then back at 8 weeks because they say that’s an important milestone.

But then I ended up in our EPAS at 5+2 because the pain got really sore, and they discovered a 5cm cyst on my ovary from releasing the egg (which has since popped!). Then I went for a private scan at 8 weeks.

I just remember being an anxious mess and every day feeling like a week, it wasn’t a nice time at all. Really hope you’re managing to keep sane and faring better than I was β™₯️β™₯️ x

AZ1992X · 28/01/2022 07:56

@Amy259 Yes, think I’ve just hit that. I rang the early detection unit to try and schedule an early reassurance scan as they had told me last time to book one. Anyways long story short but they’re no longer doing them due to NHS pressures unless you’ve had an ectopic previously. So if all seems well I’ll book a private one in a few weeks time. When did you go for your private one? X

Amy259 · 27/01/2022 18:25

Amy259 · 27/01/2022 18:24

@AZ1992X so nearly 5 weeks now? Have everything crossed then crossed again! And glad to read your kitchen is keeping you busy haha, anything to take your mind off it. What’s the next step for you?

@LA9610 oh my goodnesssss I can’t cope with him 😍😍😍 he is so cute!! I’m so jealous of the fun (and chaos) you are about to have haha.

@Lkdjul so I had a long chat about AMH with, completely coincidentally, the gynaecologist who invited (discovered?) the test itself. He just happened to be my gynae and when I started on about all the tests I wanted, he told me that was his work.
Exactly like Fra1991 said, the way he explained it was that it’s only useful when it comes to IVF because it helps to gauge your response/how to stim you. But in general, he said finding out the value would be just another number to stress about if I wasn’t at that stage yet, so he strongly advised me against it until it was necessary. Hope that helps!

@xoJellyBean I would still be waiting for my hycosy appointment right now if I had waited too. It’s so sad, the NHS has just been hit so hard πŸ’” I felt like I was cheating on them when I got my private test but just kept telling myself I was freeing up a space on the list haha. So glad things are moving for you!

Tinkerbell098 · 27/01/2022 16:34

@LA9610 AWWW What a great new addition to the family! We've got a german shepherd boy who's turning two next month. I'm so pleased for you.

@Lkdjul hello fellow geneticist :) I did my undergrad and PhD in medical genetics. It's good to know another geneticist in the group :) Also great you have access to a free AMH test. I've never had one done, but also a little skeptical about it as it doesn't tell you about the quality of the eggs, which matters more than quantity in my opinion.

xoJellyBean · 27/01/2022 16:06

@AZ1992X thanks so much, I appreciate it πŸ₯°

@Amy259 yes I'm defo relieved and soo thankful I went private to get where we are now πŸ™πŸ» I'm still waiting to hear from NHS a year later!

@HopefulGlow thankyou!! Clomid gets me ovulating againπŸ₯³ im on 50mg and will get a scan on day 10 to see how my follicles are. And the metformin is so improve my insulin resistance due to PCOS, it helps clomid work well too (it's actually a treatment for diabetes so I'm nervous about it)

@WhatToThink1 hey, welcome. You can get the same type of cm coming up to af aswell apparently! Will you test soon? Bbt charting is great

@LA9610 ahhh hello wee Ollie!! He's gorgeous! I have a golden boy as well and a black girl, they are honestly the best ❀️

Fra1991 · 27/01/2022 12:04

@LA9610 oh my goodness he is gorgeous!!! Do you have a name? We have a cavapoo and it was the best decision of our lives!!! I warn you - it’s hard work at first , I’ve even had people tell me it’s harder than a newborn!! But even if not it’s good prep! I think it’ll be good for you, it’ll take your mind of ttc.
@HopefulGlow yeh I normally get spotting 6 days before - I’m a bit worried it means I wouldn’t have time for an embryo to implant but maybe it just wouldn’t happen if I conceived… normally dtd brings it on - such a twisted pregnancy test but so far very accurate!! Yeh feel I did everything but take that oil that improves your cm, I can’t remember what it is called?? Will try that next month if I get my bfn. I don’t know much about the ovulation peaks I try after what I think is my ovulation peak to just dtd every 2/3 days but then the spotting arrives and that puts me off. Sounds like you’ve managed to do what you neee to though!!
@xoJellyBean yeh I can imagine .. I even feel a bit better having gone for a private appointment and gotten another test. I’m just counting the days atm really! Obsessively looking at my bbt chart!
@Lkdjul yes I just got my AMH results back today as they test at the fertility clinic. So mine were just under 13pmol/l which the doctor said is normal for my age and would give a normal response to ivf treatment whereas over 20 you risk over simulation. When I googled the results i found that my results was on the low end and would be low fertility if I were under 30 and I only turned 30 in December so… I don’t have my consultation until next month tho so will ask the consultant then. I know that the result doesn’t give any indication of quality of eggs though. Hope that helps!! X

AZ1992X · 27/01/2022 10:41

@LA9610 omg!! he’s adorable 😍😍
So exciting for you.

Lkdjul · 27/01/2022 10:17

Sorry couldn’t work out how to edit my post, the test is free.

Lkdjul · 27/01/2022 10:14

@LA9610 wow, he’s gorgeous. What a wonderful post covid treat for you both. 😍

My work has just signed up for a service called peppy which offers fertility support. I spoke to them yesterday and they’re sending me an AMH kit in the post. After a bit of Googling I am now totally unsure whether or not to use it. The scientist in me (I’m a geneticist) read some of the studies that suggest it’s really not all that accurate at gauging fertility and thought I might just be freaking myself out but the mad TTC woman in me was all β€˜more tests, bring it on’. Anyone done one and got any advice?

LA9610 · 27/01/2022 09:12

@HopefulGlow @Amy259 @xoJellyBean @Bundaberg84 - sorry to keep you in suspense πŸ˜‚ relieved to hear you all share the excitement. It is Mumsnet after all and I was a bit scared someone would think I'm crazy for getting a pup while TTC!

So it's a little boy and we are calling him Ollie 🀩 picking him up on Monday as our isolation ends on Sun at the latest. Cannot wait! I'll attach a few pics for you. Honestly my heart feels so full already, you'd think I was having a baby πŸ˜‚

@Fra1991 thank you. Yes checking if they were blocked but they are not which is great Smile

apwilso · 26/01/2022 20:53

@xoJellyBean thank you. Well I've just done one and there is a second line but thinking this could be a nasty indent on a FRER!

Come home from work and my next door neighbours cowboy builders have put my window through. So I'm so happy today

AZ1992X · 26/01/2022 19:24

@Amy259 I was testing daily to start with but less regular now. I did one this morning then Sunday was the last one I did before. The line is just as dark as the test line now so not much sure it’ll go much darker?

Its around 8 days since my period was due (last Wednesday). So at guess around 19 days as I only have around 11/12 day luteal.

@HopefulGlow Yes, it looks like a building site at the minute πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, will be so worth it though once complete.

Glad you’ve managed to catch that it came early so you’re covered this cycle 🀞. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
