Hi all!

We were getting to the end of the previous thread, so thought it’s best to start a new one.

A quick catch up I think mainly everyone on the old thread is as 12 months + TTC.

Newbies are always welcome.

Just sharing our journeys, supporting each other when possible, and having somewhere to moan and let it all out

Hi all,

Test on Thursday didn’t go ahead, I’m heartbroken. Turned up and was told our doctors hadn’t give us the right label, the form or booklet to go into the appointment and they couldn’t do the SA. We have had to go back on the wait list…probably another 5/6 months. I’m furious and just numb.

On top of this we have solicitors, financial and his ex issues to make it extra fun. I need some time off and I’m sorry to jump ship.

Hopefully will be back soon once I’ve stopped feeling sorry for myself and can handle things again.

So sorry I’m not reading/replying to anyone. I really hope you are all well and I wish nothing but happiness and gallons of baby dust for you all.
Stay strong βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

@Lauralozzle oh god I'm dreading this!

Lauralozzle · 19/03/2022 10:09

@apwilso I Hope you get some answers. The hair pull of thyroid issues is when it’s like level 4.something and GP says it’s fine, fertility people say it’s not. I’m going to have to wait for my appointment in May to basically sort out IVF for them to prescribe me thyroxine. I might ask at the appointment if there are more thyroid blood tests I can have as well. GP won’t do them, my levels are β€˜normal’.

apwilso · 18/03/2022 16:32

@Lauralozzle wow that's mad. I'll keep you updated on what happens. I'm hoping they don't. Read up on thyroid issues because I was curious andni think possibly I may have an inactive thyroid from the symptoms! Maybe j will get some answers!

Tinkerbell098 · 18/03/2022 15:12

@Lauralozzle worth a check. I struggled waiting a week to get my HSG results, so if I had to wait until May I'd cry. But that's just me being impatient!

Lauralozzle · 18/03/2022 14:47

@Tinkerbell098 I don’t think so cause it’s not been ordered by my GP or anything.

Might have to properly download the nhs app to see if it comes up!

Tinkerbell098 · 18/03/2022 14:27

@Lauralozzle I'm sorry the scan was a little confusing. I hate it when they say "nothing major, but need to review", which happened to me at the scan as well as the HSG. 16th May seems ages away just to get the result. Is there no way you could request it beforehand? When my GP ordered the scan, I was able to see the result on my NHS app a couple of days later, which gave me time to review the result and prepare questions to ask the doctor. Haha agreed about the scan probe. I think in the "Big Fat Negative" book they call it the "dildo cam".

Lauralozzle · 18/03/2022 14:18

So, just posting an update after my scan.

They didn’t really say much at all, started with external scan and then the internal scan. They spent about 20 minutes trying to locate my right ovary and ended up giving up because they couldn’t find it internally but had spotted it in the external scan.

I asked if anything was wrong and they said nothing major but that’s all. They just said they have to take time reviewing the scans and write a detailed report for the consultant.

So, I feel like something isn’t quite right. I heard them say transverse so maybe I have a tilted uterus (that would explain the horrible smears I have). Also heard the words tubal and fluid (not together) but no idea what they were referring to!

I hate the lack of communication!

Have got my appointment for consultation with consultant on 16th May now (came this morning) so I suppose I’ll find out then.

It didn’t hurt but the internal scan instrument looked like a massive dildo!!! πŸ˜‚

Lauralozzle · 17/03/2022 09:29

@apwilso I remember making the first call, it was just after a year and I was so nervous. The doctor was very nice, but to be frank, a bit useless.

He asked me how long we’ve been trying, what my periods were like. Because they’re very regular, no spotting, last for a normal length of time he basically said I’m ovulating and they can’t do anything until the two year mark anyway so come back in two years.

He basically said I’m fine and it can take time, said he’d do bloods if I really wanted to but didn’t think I needed to go down that route yet. I trusted and believed him so didn’t bother thinking it’ll happen every month.

I wish I had taken up his offer of bloods because my bloods saga took like, 6 months. My hormones aren’t normal - everything looks ok on the outside but clearly there are hormone issues with my tests, that still haven’t been adequately addressed. I’m hoping the fertility doctor will just put me on thyroid medication after what the nurse said because ivf is likely and it will need to be lower than that. My prolactin level also scares the shit out of me because they don’t know why but it’s not high enough to be a proper, medical concern. Madness.

So, my advice would be don’t let them fob you off! I lost a year because of it!

apwilso · 17/03/2022 09:14

@Lauralozzle glad the ball is rolling for you. I think I'll regret leaving it I was going to do it back in January but panicked x

Lauralozzle · 17/03/2022 08:53

@apwilso that’s good that the nurse can do it. Been trying 3 years in July. Investigations started last August with GP was eventually referred to fertility clinic in January this year.

apwilso · 16/03/2022 20:20

@Lauralozzle I'll go back and have a read! I booked it so haven't been to any previously so my appointment next week is my first step. I had an ultrasound years ago and she said it all looked well but that was when I was like 20 so anything could change! Apparently the nurse I'm seeing can get my referred and is good in this area in my gp so I will see what they say. Just want to know if it's just really bad timing or something is wrong!

How long has yours been going on for now? X

Lauralozzle · 16/03/2022 20:16

Welcome back @apwilso

I’m currently going through fertility investigations. Don’t be nervous at the doctors, I found the doctors fine once I psyched myself up for it. Although I totally get where you’re coming from, you just have to read my posts above to realise I’m bricking the next phase of fertility investigations!

Have you had any blood tests yet? They were the first things they did for me.

apwilso · 16/03/2022 18:34

Hey everyone!

Popping back on. Period is in full swing and just rang doctors today for fertility investigation and I'm nervous!!

Tinkerbell098 · 16/03/2022 15:34

@HopefulGlow I know, waiting is the hardest part. Hope you'll hear back soon and you can have an action plan. I was quite surprised when the doctor said the waiting time would be 3 months as I expected it to be about a year! I hope she's right, I mean she refers people every day so she should know! She did say though if we don't hear in 3 months, ring up and if they can't give me a timeline, consider going private. She didn't want me to delay it basically due to my age and low AMH.

HopefulGlow · 16/03/2022 12:29

@Tinkerbell098 I think that’s the perfect way to describe it. Sad it’s come to this. Obviously I’m so thankful we have these options and help. But it’s just not how you imagine your journey is it.

3 months isn’t long at all and I really hope it goes at a good pace for you. Not too quick that you don’t feel prepared, but also not too slow that you feel it’s dragging 😊

My doctors said it should be within 5 days πŸ˜… BUT the test took 5 months to get done so I’m hoping they don’t delay with the results. I’m honestly thinking they will be okay but who knows πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I just get frustrated waiting for everything!

@Lauralozzle glad the appointment was productive and you have an action plan for the next few weeks. Good luck for the scan, and don't worry it won't have any effect on implantation/early pregnancy.

@HopefulGlow I'm doing much better now than you. Still sad it's come to this and the idea of it still terrifies me. But I've got about 3 months to prepare. Oh how annoying you have to miss a month of TTC because of the SA. Hope you'll enjoy having the break though without the stress of tests, timed sex etc. When will you get the results?

@Fra1991 thanks, doing a little better now. Yes 3 months didn't seem too long a wait, really hope the doctor didn't lie to us about the waiting times. Glad your hycosy went ok and everything was normal. What did the NHS doctor advice the next steps would be? Hope the hycosy will give you the "fertility boost" that some seem to get the few months after.

Lauralozzle · 16/03/2022 08:32

@HopefulGlow that makes me feel a bit better! Thank you.

HopefulGlow · 15/03/2022 17:21

@Lauralozzle don’t worry they do internal scans for early pregnancy too, so it won’t ruin your chances of implantation. It’s perfectly safe ☺️ Hopefully that makes you feel better about that!

I hope the scan goes well for you. When I had mine, half of me wanted them to find something, just so we had a reason for infertility. Then of course the other half of me wanted it to be okay but was annoyed it’s taking so long anyway. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Can’t win.

Make sure you treat yourself afterwards. I always feel so drained after any checks or fertility talks βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

@HopefulGlow thank you. I’m hoping the scans are all right on Friday. Typical me thinking they’ll find something all soon and gloom though! The anxiety these tests are causing us real! I feel like a hypochondriac!

Fingers crossed the SA is all ok. It’s a shame you have to miss a month though.

@Fra1991 I’m glad your hycosy was fine. Mixed messages from doctors are 😑 are you sticking with private? How come NHS said they can’t do anything?

I’m willing this week to just be over and gone with. But apart from that I’m all good. I’m a bit worried about my scan on Friday, I’ll be 7dpo. I know theres pretty much no chance of being pregnant after all this time but there’s that little voice in my head thinking what if the internal ruins any chance of implantation. Which has never happened because I’ve never had a BFP.

HopefulGlow · 15/03/2022 15:07

Hi @Fra1991

It’s so frustrating isn’t it. Feeling so up and down. My doctors rang me this morning too, to check I still want to proceed as it’s been so long. I had to explain we have been waiting all this time for the SA and they didn’t know the waits were this long! But at least I’m still on the list waiting to be forwarded to fertility.

I hope you manage to stay on top of your anxieties this week. It’s so horrible feeling hopeless.

I always try to focus on other things and keep busy but sometimes I can and I just need to wallow πŸ˜…

Do you have any nice plans coming up? βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

Fra1991 · 15/03/2022 13:59

Hi all,

@Tinkerbell098 sorry to hear about the blockage, must be hard to hear even if you suspect it. Glad you are now on the waiting list for IVF - thats a really short time! So hopefully a BFP is on the horizon.
@Lauralozzle good all sounds normal. I had the hycosy last week it was quite sore but very quick! They showed me the dye flowing through so all looked ok. Had my NHS appointment yesterday and the doctor just said theres not much to do now since Ive had the private stuff although she said my AMH levels were low especially for my age - but then when I said we were on the list for private she said I was still young so bit of a mixed message there.
@HopefulGlow sorry about the timing of the SA - very annoying. I am the same as you been on and off the last few weeks thats me in my tww I think (didnt bother with tests this months and my temps were all over the place) so my anxiety will probably get worse as the week proceeds because Im waiting for the spotting!

hope all are ok

xx

HopefulGlow · 15/03/2022 13:31

@Lauralozzle glad to hear the appointment went well and the ball is rolling for more progress :) annoying about the BMI - I’m dreading mine being done πŸ˜‚ fingers crossed for your internal and external scans too 🀞🏼

@Tinkerbell098 so sorry to hear the news but glad they have options for you. How are you feeling now?

The thought of IVF is a lot to process, no matter how much we want a baby, it can take us back and give us some things to work through. So I hope you’re doing okay now the news has sunk in?

OH has got his SA on Thursday morning. I just want it to be over, I’m so anxious. It’s my O week too so we are out this month as we can’t BD now until after the SA. Annoying!

Been on and off with feeling okay the last few weeks. Sorry I’ve been a little quiet.

Now is everyone else? βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

Just got back from the appointment. They said I’m definitely ovulating, my fsh is normal. They’re not bothered by the prolactin because I’m ovulating and have regular periods. My thyroid is 4.6 I think she said, normal for health but when ivf treatment will be needed nurse said I’ll likely need something to get it below 3.

DH is all normal.

I have to arrange a blood test for amh levels, on Friday I’m going for an external and internal ultrasound.

On my first day of my period I have to call up to arrange a hysterosalpingogram (h.s.g) x ray which should be after my period but before day CD 10.

Nurse said will probably see the consultant in about 8 weeks time but all the tests need to be done by then.

My bmi is 30.2 as well, so need to be strict on my diet!! Which is the hardest thing!

Tinkerbell098 · 14/03/2022 10:26

@Lauralozzle the doctor also said going through IVF sheds some light into what maybe wrong as the standard diagnostics don't look at the full picture as so many steps are involved in conceiving. As technically, with a fully functioning tube, even though roughly half the chance, I should have conceived by now, if everything else seems normal. The doctor said the wait is about 3 months in my area, which didn't seem too bad to be honest. Even if we were to go private, it would be about 2 months, so not a massive difference. Good luck with the appointment today, let us know how it goes.
