Hi all!

We were getting to the end of the previous thread, so thought it’s best to start a new one.

A quick catch up I think mainly everyone on the old thread is as 12 months + TTC.

Newbies are always welcome.

Just sharing our journeys, supporting each other when possible, and having somewhere to moan and let it all out

Afternoon everyone!

Hope everyone’s having a nice weekend?

@HopefulGlow Yes, it been lovely thank you, we went out Friday for the day and went out for lunch & cake. Yesterday OH ended up working so we didn’t end up going shopping which I was gutted about - going to try going next weekend, went for a walk instead and then just had a chill day then ended up going out for Brunch this morning with family last minute which was really nice.

Pie sounds lovely! I love pie 😍 , do you make it from scratch?

Yes, I remember you saying that, I’m glad TTC hasn’t affected your sex life too much, I know it does for a lot of couples. I’ve got to say though I wish I had the energy to do it that much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

It sounds like it could be worth a shot doing it slightly less? You could try giving it a go and see how you get on?

@Amy259 how are you feeling? , hoping your home now and managing to rest a little?

HopefulGlow · 07/11/2021 10:43

@AZ1992X I hope your weekend is going well? Have you kept distracted?

I’m just thinking of what to do for dinner today. I might do a pie! My OH loves corned beef pie, so might treat him.

@Amy259 it was lovely thank you! It was a very stressful day before, but it was nice to see everyone. My SIL is showing already! It’s crazy! She’s only a couple of months.

Are you home from work now? Your job sounds crazy but so much fun! I bet it’s nice to be home.

Oooo soup & stew season 😍😍 I might have to make some this week too! With some nice crusty bread to dip in. Which soup will you go for?

@Beffylou welcome and sorry to hear about your struggles!! It’s great news about your first though, it means it’s definitely possible ☺️ Have you spoken to your doctor at all? Thought about tests and lifestyle changes etc
It’s such a hard journey to be on!

@Nora11 ooo that peanut stir fry looks so good 😍😍😍 I may have to make that this week. I need a new wok though, I’m currently using a large pan but it’s not the same haha my veggies end up sautΓ©ed, not stir fried πŸ˜‚

I made an avocado mousse once….it tasted like avocado haha for me it’s too much of a distinct flavour to disguise. I love the stuff…but maybe not in sweet things.

Ladies…some of you may know me and my partner DTD a lot. πŸ˜‚ most days, sometimes more than once a day. It’s just how we are…well…my OH got that home SA test through the post. It said to wait 2-3 days of no sex/ejaculation before doing the test…. 2-3 days!!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ needless to say we just did it, we had sex the day before, just to see what it would say! We didn’t send it off, you do it all at home with a little slider, reader and phone app thing. So cool but weird.

Anyway, his results were all good, apart from the mobility…so he said why don’t we wait and only have sex every other day or every 3 days during FW….how the hell will I cope?? I don’t know if I should be happy he’s wanting to try new things for our BFP, or upset he wants to hold off πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@HopefulGlow hope you enjoyed your berries and yoghurt! I know what you mean about lunches! I am lazy with lunch so every day we normally have a chicken sandwich on wholemeal bread, with a bit of salad. But I work very close to the canteen and it's so hard to resist the smell of tasty food cooking!

I will have to try the sweet potato brownie recipe sometime! I have tried avocado brownie before (didn't make it myself!) Which was not too bad but I can't say I was a big fan... But I feel like sweet potatoes would work better!

I'm planning to try this recipe next week, it looks nice and also quite quick/easy which is what I need in the week! www.pickuplimes.com/recipe/vegetable-noodle-stir-fry-with-peanut-lime-sauce-131

Tonight we are going to make a big batch of chicken stew that will hopefully last us a few days... With as many veggies added as possible πŸ˜‚ love a good stew at this time of year!

Hi ladies,

My husband and I have been TTC for a year now. We conceived very quickly (almost accidentally) with our first baby who is now 18months old. So the fact it is taking this long now is a whole new world for me! I don’t know many other women TTC and those I do were pregnant within 6 months! Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

Amy259 · 05/11/2021 12:54

Happy Friday gang!

@HopefulGlow I’m okay thank you - ready to go home tomorrow after this week of work though. I’m feeling a bit run down and rough, which I’m not complaining about and I’m taking as a good sign, but I’d rather feel like that in my own house πŸ˜‚ still big, sore heavy boobs and queasy 99.9% of the time haha.

I’m glad your UTI has eased off, that must’ve been so worrying having been in hospital before.

Speaking of food, the farmer’s wife has been bringing us soup every lunch time and now I’m determined to get making some when I get home - it’s definitely soup season!

I’ve heard about sweet potato brownies before but never made them. I’m a bit of a rubbish baker tbh, much more of a cook!

Hope your nephews birthday goes well, this is the one where your SIL has just announced isn’t it? Hope you’re feeling okay about it all β™₯️

@AZ1992X glad you’re keeping busy and distracted from your wait. Got everything crossed for you xxx

AZ1992X · 05/11/2021 09:30

Morning @HopefulGlow

You don’t need to say sorry, we all need some time out sometimes.

I’m doing ok thank you, much better now I’ve broken up for the weekend. Just about to go out for the day - hoping it’ll be a good distraction!

Oh yes, I remember you talking about that - hope it goes ok - I know you was a little nervous ❀️

A chill day Sunday sounds great! X.

Morning all! HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Sorry for the delay I’ve just been pooped and zoned out.

@AZ1992X how are you feeling?

Your weekend sounds lovely! 😍 and there will definitely be Christmas things out too hehe you can enjoy those πŸ’•

I’m going to see my nephew for his birthday on Saturday then Sunday I want to rest and paint I think. Nothing too exciting.

@Amy259 I know this month hasn’t been great. First thrush then a UTI. I used to get UTI all the time, I was in hospital once with it. So I was really worried that would happen again. But it’s eased off now thank goodness. The doctors all say to drink lots of water…I drink 2-3litres a day and I still get them haha I got some probiotics with cranberry so I’m hoping that helps 🀞🏼😁

How are you and the little bean feeling? Any new symptoms? Overall feeelings? I hope you’re easing into it and it’s starting to sink in now!!

@Msrivia thank you! I ended up being okay overall I think. I honestly didn’t think I was so that helped. Just the usual pang of disappointment but nothing I haven’t had before haha

I’m feeling better now and ready for my period to end and a new cycle to begin. I have lots to distract me this month so hopefully I can stay positive.

Have you spoken to your doctors yet to find out about those bloods? My doctors was engaged for 3 hours the other day. I couldn’t even get through to be in the queue! They’re awful.

@Nora11 I’m having a breakfast inspired by you today! I got myself some alpro yogurt. I already have berries in the freezer and I’m going to do some chia seeds and flax seeds on top 😍 I’m not sure if I have to walnuts! I need to check 😁 I’m actually excited haha

I find lunch tricky when it’s cold like this. I just wasn’t cosy warm foods. But tbh I do love a good salad πŸ€” what sort of meals have you been planning?

I also have a lovely recipe for sweet potato brownies! Sounds gross but honestly they’re so good haha I will find it and link it here.

Morning ladies,

Happy Friday!! Hope everyone’s doing ok, anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

Nora11 · 04/11/2021 09:15

@LA9610 I totally get what you mean about worrying about oversharing, I always feel the same when I open up about something! I'm sure your boss won't have thought that though, we are just so much harder on ourselves than anyone else who probably wouldn't give it much thought!

I don't think I'm going to go out of my way to tell my boss for now but if it comes up or I need to ask for any time off then I think I'll be honest next time.

@HopefulGlow it's a really nice breakfast and also makes me feel very virtuous! πŸ˜‚ If you get frozen berries it is so easy too as you don't have to worry about them going off etc! In the morning I just defrost some blueberries for a few mins in the microwave then add a dollop of yoghurt, teaspoon of chia seeds, a few walnuts and a little bit of honey.

@AZ1992X I have such a sweet tooth too! I've been having a square of dark chocolate after dinner all week which just takes the edge off and stops me bingeing my way through chocolate/biscuits until I feel stuffed which is what I would usually be tempted to do 😬 definitely a good idea to enjoy some treats on the weekend too! Otherwise it's just miserable especially at this time of year!

Msrivia · 03/11/2021 20:25

Hi all, sorry I dropped out for a while - crazy busy at work!

Sorry for your disappointment this month @HopefulGlow, hope you've been nice to yourself today. I always tell myself that I won't get my hopes up and that way I won't be disappointed, but it never works! How is your cake going?

@LA9610 I know what you mean about worrying about oversharing, I blurted it out to a friend at work one day - I think she'd asked me something quite casual about whether I was planning on having kids soon, and it all sort of came out. It's actually been quite nice though because she just occasionally checks in with me without making a big deal, but I know I can chat with her if I need to.

I missed a call from the doctor's today, they rang my DH and said I needed another blood test so he booked it for me - but it never occurred to him to ask what my results were and what the extra test was for! So trying not to stress about that now. I've emailed them and I'll ask when I'm in for the MMR tomorrow. Bit of a nightmare getting through even to reception at the moment - I was on hold for over 45 minutes last time!

Amy259 · 03/11/2021 14:52

@HopefulGlow ahh I’m so sorry, sending you lots of love β™₯️ Christmas movies and brownies are definitely what today calls for! I’d love a brownie…

And sorry to hear about your UTI too! What a nightmare for you! I hope it’s starting to ease up with your antibiotics.

@LA9610 I almost wish I had told my work way back.. I started a new job in January (almost didn’t take it because I was worried about falling pregnant immediately after I started..) and it’s really physical/hands on/dangerous. Another girl in my team announced she was pregnant a few months ago and is on desk duties, meaning there’s a fair bit of extra work to be done. People can sometimes talk about her as if it’s laziness and I’m there like ehhh please remember there’s a good reason! So I’m really nervous about my boss/team knowing tbh.

@AZ1992X sorry to hear your week is dragging - not too long to go now though! I think days 3/4dpo-9dpo are the worst, no man’s land!!

@User1400 I’m good thank you - missing home, I’m away with work just now and I’m not used to going this long without seeing DH, the dogs and the cat πŸ˜‚ how’s your week going? Xx

AZ1992X · 03/11/2021 13:50

@LA9610 Thank you ❀️, I am worried about it happening again but need to try and stay positive that it’ll be a different outcome next time. I’m currently in the 2ww - due early next week. How are you getting on?

@HopefulGlow I’m glad you’ve been able to tell one or two people so you’re able to talk about it. Plus I’m sure she doesn’t think that!

I’m planning on going out for the day Friday and go out for either lunch or tea/cake then im going into town another day shopping (I secretly hope the Christmas stuff is all out) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Do you have anything planned for the weekend?

HopefulGlow · 03/11/2021 13:09

@Nora11 sorry I missed your message before! Thank you πŸ’• it’s sucks doesn’t it, but it’s a fresh start πŸ™‚

Your breakfast sounds delicious and I may have to grab something similar! I tend to get lazy when I’m feeling down and I struggle to cook and clean as much. But that makes me feel worse.

I did have beans and scrambled tofu on toast haha that’s kind of good? πŸ˜‚

@AZ1992X it’s okay, I feel bad I don’t remember everything that you all say too! But my memory is shocking and there’s a lot going on πŸ˜… no one apart from my mum knows, and one of my best friends who lives hours away. So we just stay in contact via video messages. She does ask how I am regularly but I feel like I’m always moaning πŸ˜…

Your long weekend sounds lovely and very much needed. Do you have anything nice planned?

@LA9610 oh gosh I’m exactly the same! I would answer too, even if I maybe didn’t want to. But you have to remember they are asking from a place of care, so hopefully they keep the chat about it to the minimum. So you are more comfortable with it?

It’s horrible feeling like you’ve over shared isn’t it. I get that quite a lot too, I have to remember it’s all in my head. Everyone is too busy thinking about themselves πŸ˜‚

I’ve decided to try and make a cake tonight for my nieces birthday πŸŽ‚ something to distract me and hopefully make me feel useful.

How’s everyone’s Wednesday going? βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

LA9610 · 03/11/2021 12:27

@Nora11, yeah I totally understand that. I only told mine because he asked when I am having children (and I partially just wanted to stop him from asking things like that in the future), but if he hadn't I definitely wouldn't have just brought it up. I haven't told anyone I work with though!

I guess if it's not impacting your work in anyway then no particular need to disclose it but if you feel it's impacting your performance due to time off or your ability to focus at work etc. then it may help to open up.

LA9610 · 03/11/2021 12:20

@User1400, I felt relieved to begin with but I have social anxiety and soon afterwards was stressing that I had totally over-shared/ come across badly etc. Totally get what you mean about TTC holding you back, i'd like to change my career but feel like I can't do that until I know what will happen as it would involve going back to Uni and I can't sacrifice maternity pay :(

This is my last cycle where I could get pregnant before Christmas too!

@HopefulGlow, Yeah I really didn't want to but then when he asked me directly I felt compelled to say something as i'm not good at lieing! You are right, it probably was a good thing though. It's out now anyway, can't take it back.

Hope your job search goes well and you find something of interest :) Sorry AF arrived, a day on the couch sounds in order.

@AZ1992X - that makes sense, sounds like a sensible time to broach the subject. Hopefully your manager will be supportive too! Sorry to see you had a MC, it must be even harder to stay positive when you've gone through that already. What point in the cycle are you?

AZ1992X · 03/11/2021 12:15

@Nora11 I love yoghurt and berries - I start off most my mornings with that. I try and eat healthier Monday-Friday then have the weekend as my treat days but I have a really bad sweet tooth so end up having the odd biscuit or chocolate in the evening. I suppose it’s about getting the right balance.

I agree I think it can only be a good thing and also knowing you’re proactively doing something will be good mentally too I hope.

@HopefulGlow Thank you! ❀️

That’s completely normal and it’s probably better to get your emotions out rather than trying to hold them in.

That must be hard having an announcement from someone so close, I’m sure that won’t happen. Does she know you’re trying? Sorry if you’ve said before.

I’ve got a long weekend coming up - break up tomorrow, I’ve got quite a few things planned to try and keep busy πŸ˜‚

HopefulGlow · 03/11/2021 10:45

@AZ1992X well I’m still sending you positivity for this cycle! Fingers crossed you get a BFP and it catches you by surprise πŸ₯°

I ended up having a cry πŸ˜‚ knew it would happen. My OH hasn’t asked if I’ve started, but I’m sure he knows.

I have lots of things to keep me busy though! I’m just kind of nervous about a family do this weekend. My SIL has announced her pregnancy (super early) and I really don’t want to feel like this and ruin anything for her. I need to put my big girl pants on!

Oh gosh that’s awful when it drags, mine always does a week before too! I hope you can keep occupied and busy so it doesn’t slow time too much 😁

@HopefulGlow @AZ1992X thank you! I do feel more positive having something we can do! Just finished my morning snack of blueberries, yoghurt and walnuts! 😁 I just hope my optimism isn't misplaced but being a bit healthier can only be a good thing anyway.

@LA9610 glad to hear your boss was supportive, though I understand why you might feel odd about it too. I have been wondering whether to tell my boss as I have been struggling around my periods recently. A few times I have asked for time off with a vague 'not feeling well' or been obviously stressed/emotional so part of me thinks it would be good to explain it but I also feel a bit weird about telling him even though I think he would be supportive (but maybe awkward). Especially as we aren't at the treatment stage I feel like he might wonder why I'm telling him. I know some people keep it completely to themselves even when they are going through IVF but I am a bit of an open book... Have already told quite a few people I work with just not my boss πŸ™ˆ

Sorry to hear AF has arrived @HopefulGlow πŸ™ hope you have a cosy, restful day and fingers crossed for this new cycle!

AZ1992X · 03/11/2021 09:46

@HopefulGlow I’d love to be proven wrong but I doubt it πŸ˜‚

Yes, you should absolutely do that. Let me know which film you decide on. A film with brownies sounds the perfect combo and just what you need ❀️

That’s good you’ve still got two cycles to go, like you say hopefully you’ll see that as a positive in the next few days.

Mine are slightly longer so I’ll only squeeze one full one in before Christmas. I think I’m due next Tuesday or even Wednesday so still a little while left. This weeks dragging πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

HopefulGlow · 03/11/2021 08:41

@AZ1992X I was the same! I had no reason to think either way but I just wasn’t hopeful. I haven’t cried yet though, which is unusual for me lol but there’s still time πŸ˜‚

I may have to put on a Christmas film today to try and lift these blues.

I have short cycles too so I have another 2 shots before Christmas 🀞🏼 But right now I’m not feeling hopeful πŸ˜‚

I’m sure by the end of today or maybe tomorrow I will be thinking positively and try to be grateful I have regular periods and things….but right now I think I need some brownie, coffee, Christmas films and to wallow πŸ˜”

How long have you got? βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

@HopefulGlow Ah, I’m so sorry ❀️
That sounds like a good idea getting your comfies on and working from the sofa.

My cycles been the same too - the last two/three have always turned up as soon as I wake up so suspect the same will happen.

I’m feeling ok but not feeling too positive - I don’t have a reason why but just feel it won’t be this cycle.

Yes, I’ve got a few I’m saving for right before Christmas but will try and get through as many others before.

Morning all!

Hope everyone’s week isn’t going too bad.

@LA9610 I haven’t told anyone at work yet although I wonder if they may think it. I’ve had a few appointments for blood tests then had emergency time off during the MC so I don’t think they’d be shocked if I told them. If I end up getting referred next year I’ll probably tell them at that stage due to probably needing more appointments etc .., I think she would be supportive and has kids herself. I’m glad your manager was supportive of you!

@HopefulGlow how are you getting on this morning? Any signs of AF?

Other than the two from the other week I just watched the Christmas Prince and then the second one in that series. Hadn’t seen them before! Trying to watch ones I haven’t seen before so I’m then left with my favourite ones in December πŸ˜‚

Loops I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling, please know you will always have a place here if you do wish to talk. I hope you start feeling yourself soon ❀️

@suzy124 it’s lovely to hear from you, I hope you’re keeping well and great news on your scan.

@User1400 I’m well thank you, I hope you’re keeping well. Also, congrats on the new job - hope it’s going well and I’m happy you decided to just go for it!
