For the small group of ladies still here from the original February bus from 2020.

Maybe 2022 is when we finally get our babies?

@MimiArm you can't genuinely compare the frer because it's a different test. But yes the lines do look to be getting darker from the photos.
And one time has to work! It's just getting the right sticky bean. 😬 Keep positive.

MimiArm · 10/11/2021 09:40

@Juno231 Thank you. My gut feeling is that it's a real BFP. I felt like I knew before I did the first test.

I think the Metformin combined with the Clomid and the trigger have all complimented each other to make things right. I also randomly lost 10 pounds in the last month, thanks to Metformin.

That being said, triggers can linger for up to 14 days apparently so I'm trying my best to maintain a neutral reaction. To be honest, if it is real, I will really struggle because of what happened last time. I have an overwhelming fear now. xxx

Juno231 · 10/11/2021 09:34

@MimiArm I swear triggers should be out of your system by like 8dpo at the latest no?? This is 100% the real deal in my humble opinion! Which is fantastic!!! Congratulations and I've got everything crossed that it all goes well xxx

@paintfairy Thanks - I am cautiously optimistic but staying very grounded. I'm sure the line is getting a bit darker everyday. Can you see it or am I imagining it?

I tested for two reasons.

1 - I had a sudden dizzy spell. I remembered having the very same thing last time around.

2 - I've had non stop heartburn for the past few days and I don't normally have heartburn.

Friday is my test date so I guess I'll test again tomorrow and see what happens.

paintfairy · 10/11/2021 09:18

@MimiArm that sounds lovely!
Its impossible to be sure to be honest, unless you test it out from the beginning. The only way you'll know is if the line is getting darker every day, as opposed to lighter.
My acupuncture lady told me last night to definitely not test this week no matter how much I'm tempted because the trigger will still be there (trigger will be 2 weeks this coming Saturday). Which i wouldn't have anyway. After the iui I used cheap tests a week after trigger and nothing showed on those but I'm not sure how good the tests are (didn't want to waste a frer) and individuals do process it differently.

Personally I would like to think by now that it isn't the trigger, so I'm cautiously optimistic for you, but I wouldn't rule it out. 🤞

MimiArm · 10/11/2021 09:08

@paintfairy We just went to the south coast of Ireland to the pet friendly Seaview cottage so the dogs came on holidays too. It was lovely to get the time away.

How are you feeling?

@Juno231

I'm not sure what to think. I stupidly tested 2 days ago and got a positive test but was aware it could be the trigger shot. That was 10 days post trigger.

Tested again yesterday and still a line.

Again today (12 DPT) and I am as sure as my eyes will allow that the line is darker. Thoughts???

I don't know when I ovulated. On 29 Oct I got the trigger and the follicle was 18. The nurse said I was ready to pop anytime but she told me to hold off on starting the Cyclogest until that Sunday evening.

So I think I either ovulated on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday which means I am somewhere between 10-12 DPO.

Do you think these lines are the trigger shot?

@MimiArm did you go anywhere nice? I hope you had a lovely time!
Yeah, it's all bizarre and very surreal. Kind of like it's happening to someone else? Definitely not how I expected it, I'm sure.

MimiArm · 08/11/2021 10:35

@paintfairy Hey! I was on holiday (our belated honeymoon that had been cancelled last year) and just back home so only seeing your updates.

Wow - what a batch of updates! Congrats on being PUPO! I'm sure you're going through a range of emotions. Happy days that you have a frostie in the freezer too. I know you wanted more than one, but it's still another one which is fantastic. Now the dreaded wait - eek!

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 12:53

Today's update
Only 1 embryo suitable for freezing. I was hoping we'd miraculously have 2 but I'm thankful for any. Age is not on our side and to get 2 decent day 5's is probably something I should be thankful for. I'm pleased to have a fall back, as I was dreading not having. I guess we just have to wait and see now.

paintfairy · 06/11/2021 12:54

Officially PUPO!
So, my clinic experience was mixed. I think no one likes working Saturdays? The nurse was nice. But the theatre nurse needed work on her bedside manner and friendliness. The consultant wasn't much better. Firstly wanted to know if I'm wetting myself and if I'm not i need to drink more. I felt like I'd had enough and it's always a fine line for me and was stressing me. I also queried my progesterone levels (being they say mine are low naturally) and if they'll check, and they just make you feel stupid? 🤷‍♀️ But no they won't check.
When the embryologist rang this morning, DH took the piss saying why couldn't I understand what he said on the phone. Partly you are overwhelmed but also it was hard to hear him. But it was the same one when we got there, so I was wondering to myself if he realised that, or what was said. 🤣 And he did realise, and didn't hear. But basically the lead embryo had improved from this morning, the grading i don't understand, I think he said 2.2. The others (still no idea how many others there are, at least 2) will be checked again later/tomorrow and frozen if suitable. I'll get an update tomorrow on the portal so then it should make more sense. It went in all fine and we have photos! I'll take a pic of them actually. Which is why the insta thing is annoying. I might make a new one. Oh and I've had my McDonald's fries! To which DH said he wasn't sure how comfortable he was that this would be a babies first meal. 🤣

@MimiArm how are you?

@Juno231 it actually hasn't dragged, no. But I still feel not great. Really bloated. No idea how I will be able to hold wee tomorrow. 🤣 Still praying for more than 1.

I was watching this morning yesterday and the lady on that had 6 failed rounds. Got the baby on round 7. Harsh reminder that this is how it is for some people and that's not something most can afford!

Juno231 · 05/11/2021 10:56

@paintfairy can't believe it's time for transfer already! Has time dragged for you this week? I'll have everything crossed for you tomorrow morning and I so so hope it's good news and that it works 🤞

OP posts:
paintfairy · 04/11/2021 17:58

Provisional transfer is 10.40am Saturday. They will call between 9.10am and 9.40am with the update. Which is cutting it fine when I've got to be there 15 mins before. We'll need to leave here about 9.45am.

paintfairy · 02/11/2021 18:21

@Juno231 I wonder. My lead was 18mm on Friday (the rest smaller) and I was triggered Saturday. Some people are told to take meds the day of trigger too but I wasn't. So you do wonder if they needed an extra day or the extra meds?
Having said that- there were only 10 on my scan (and they say not all follicles contain eggs) so I was surprised they got 12. Had they only got the original 10 then the drop off rate is actually what we have now. Clearly with the percentages you have to round down and not up. Some people achieve better than average rates though so you secretly hope you might be one of them!

Juno231 · 02/11/2021 17:55

@paintfairy looks like the stats are the same for icsi and natural fertilisation? 70-80% per the research I've seen. Which would be 5.6 out of 8 so seems like it stacks up? Looks like your biggest attrition was between eggs harvested versus actually matured, and I wonder if that is just egg quality or them not getting the meds/timings quite right?

OP posts:
paintfairy · 02/11/2021 15:58

@Juno231 interesting thread. Yes I have. It seems 5 is a fairly standard number to get but when per embryo transferred the stats for my age are like 26%, the thought of only having one (or none) is concerning. I also am not that convinced by icsi. Why have only 5 fertilised? Makes you wonder whether naturally more would. I would love to know.

Juno231 · 02/11/2021 15:23

@paintfairy have you joined the IVF Oct/Nov thread on the infertility board btw? That could be comforting perhaps?

Juno231 · 02/11/2021 15:18

@paintfairy I understand but remember all it takes is one ♥️.

OP posts:
paintfairy · 02/11/2021 09:51

@Juno231 it was definitely better than I thought. I was worried about it.

Not amazing news though. I've already cried and I thought I was ok about it! Only 8 eggs were mature. 5 have fertilised. But definitely no updates now until Saturday morning, which is transfer day.

Juno231 · 01/11/2021 16:31

@paintfairy ah I'll have transport IVF so no waiting around for me - OH will be too busy transporting the eggs 🤣 I'm really looking forward to conscious sedation now you've described it. Might be worth telling thislittlebird as she was terrified of the thought of not going under general anaesthetic?

OP posts:
paintfairy · 01/11/2021 16:10

@Juno231 it honestly was so much easier than I thought. I must have passed out or something. 🤣 They let DH in my room once I was back from theatre- they've just started allowing that again apparently. But before that he had to wait out in reception. They called him to do his bit about 9.20am. He seemed OK about it all. I've had no rest this afternoon though, as he was knocking plaster off the walls. 🤣
I don't think they check them, so I'm guessing not. But I'll see what they say tomorrow.

Juno231 · 01/11/2021 15:11

@paintfairy that almost sounds like a breeze! And OH didn't moan too much about his part? Will they be calling on day 3 as well do you know?

OP posts:
paintfairy · 01/11/2021 15:08

@Juno231 I had to be there for 8am for 9am collection but it was probably about 9.10am when I went down. I was home for 11am (its about 30 minutes away) so not that long at all? I felt fine though. Almost too fine and it seemed weird. 🤣 I feel more tired now and the strong painkillers have probably worn off but I feel much better than I thought I would. No bleeding either yet? They are doing icsi so no chance of multiple sperm issues.

Juno231 · 01/11/2021 14:59

@paintfairy oh woop! How are you now? How long did you have to stay for? My clinic says three hours. 12 is excellent - I'd be hoping for 5-6 day 5 blasts to make it hopefully? On another thread I'm on a lady had ten eggs and only one made it to day 5 but it was all that was needed as she's now 12 weeks. Turns out her eggs weren't putting up barriers after a sperm met it so would get fertilised by multiple sperm and therefore die - weird how that works!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 01/11/2021 11:17

I survived!
Well, it wasn't that bad really. I was nervous but everyone was lovely. I felt like I was awake the whole time in the theatre but I'm not really sure I could have been? I only felt him do like 2 things. They also injected painkiller into my bum (apparently) which I have no knowledge of. So when he said he'd done i was like- but you've only got 2 eggs or something? There was a bit of discomfort but much less than expected, so I'm happy with that! I wouldn't be worried about having to do it again.
They got 12 eggs. The embryologist called me as we were driving home to explain next steps. Basically they expect 80% to be mature and 70% to fertilise. So suddenly there's not many left if that happens, as we all know they don't all develop properly either. But they'll call me tomorrow before 12 to tell me how many fertilised. Let's hope some do.......
