For the small group of ladies still here from the original February bus from 2020.

Maybe 2022 is when we finally get our babies?

Oh it's an eye opener!! Gosh get ready ladies, life is about to change so much 😂 but ofc it's all worth it!!
He was 3.28kg and we have called him Theo :)
Had a jaundice scare so had to go back in for his treatment and now I'm combination feeding him. This wasn't my plan but fed is best!

paintfairy · 11/06/2022 09:18

@MrsTwentyNine Congratulations! Does he have a name? How big was he? It all sounds pretty good! Sounds like he was ready anyway, which always helps. At least you avoided the induction and ended up with a really short labour! Much more positive experience.
How are you finding life with a baby?

MrsTwentyNine · 11/06/2022 05:30

@Juno231 @MimiArm @paintfairy the week has been such a blur!! So...
Got offered a sweep by the midwife last minute when I was 38+1 (the day before I had a "show" actually. MW said I was already 2-3cm dilated. (PS: sweep itself wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! ) Went home and literally 2 hours later I started getting mild back ache. Thought nothing of it and then it kept being on and off which made me time it on my contractions app. It started getting a bit more uncomfortable and I rang the hospital just in case...when they got to 45 seconds long and 3mins apart, I was semi convinced this could be it. Went to hospital and they checked I was indeed dilated but got sent home to labour at home. As soon as I got home, the pains got a lot worse and my waters broke!! (3 times at home...anyone know this could happen more than once ?!) Pain level shot up quite a bit at this point. Went onto nitrous and basically dilated from 3-10 very quick!! 4.5 hour labour in total - baby boy born with use of Ventouse at the end of it. Had an episiotomy but I barely felt any pain afterwards from it so I was very fortunate I think. Recovery has been amazing and apart from sleep deprivation, I cannot believe I gave birth to a little boy last Friday!! I hope you all are keeping well and can I just reiterate the message to make the MOST of sleep while you can haha!

Juno231 · 07/06/2022 09:12

@MrsTwentyNine congratulations!! So pleased he showed up voluntarily 😁tell us all!

@MrsTwentyNine Oh WOW! Congratulations mama!! This is so exciting!!

Can't wait to hear all the details when you find time/the energy! And thank you for the well wishes too 🥰 X

MrsTwentyNine · 04/06/2022 22:56

Too sleep deprived for the whole story right now ladies but our little bundle of joy arrived 2 weeks early after a brilliant sweep (and where I was already dilated pre-sweep!) so no induction! I'm so in love and oh SO tired!! Will fill you all in soon and good luck to you all for the next few weeks!! X

paintfairy · 04/06/2022 10:31

@MrsTwentyNine every 2 weeks I think it might be now. I had another on Wednesday. Just to make things seem a whole lot worse, I had a community midwife appointment Tuesday who said I was now measuring small and had I not been going for a scan anyway, she'd have referred me. Luckily though there's slight improvement on the scan and baby is now 9th centile (from 6th). So I'm just hoping we manage to keep plodding on!

Juno231 · 28/05/2022 14:19

@MrsTwentyNine that's great! as long as you are well informed I think it's fab - I just keep hearing of women who had no clue so it rings alarm bells whenever anyone mentions it now. I will say I'd love to have a date to focus on like that and I'd love it if baby came a week or two before their due date... although I'm weirdly attached to the birth month of August now so would rather it still stuck to that!

The info we got on Tuesday wasn't wrong but it was relatively high level so I worried some of the ladies there could have used a bit more info. I guess I'll see how the rest goes but honestly I'm mainly there to make friends and to try and get OH a bit more up to speed as he has no clue.

Hey ladies!

I'm actually quite happy about the induction. You're right in that they are done unnecessarily Juno and you go through all that additional pain for nothing but I am just so relieved to have a date and a plan at this point that I want to go ahead. They also offered ELCS but don't want to opt for that if I can help it. Baby has definitely moved further down so of course I'm hoping he can make an appearance beforehand 😂

My antenatal classes were good for the friendship opportunities but the info provided was absolute rubbish! Hope yours is better!

@paintfairy ahh sorry you're having to go through that anxiety. They could be totally off like you say. How often do you have scans ?

@MimiArm thank you! How are you doing?

MimiArm · 27/05/2022 22:19

@MrsTwentyNine ooooh exciting!! The next 2 weeks will fly by. I can't wait to see your update soon that baby has arrived 😁😁🤗

How are you feeling?

Juno231 · 25/05/2022 11:32

@MrsTwentyNine hm I'm not sure I'd be taking them up on the induction as the measurements often seem so wrong! Up to you of course but make sure they talk you through all the cons of induction if they haven't, as I've seen ladies on my other bus get caught out not having had a clue what the implications were.

Had my 28 week appointment today which was fairly uneventful... Also had my first antenatal class last night which was fun and all the couples seemed like they could be people we could make friends with so that's promising so far!

paintfairy · 25/05/2022 09:38

@MrsTwentyNine ah that's not early really then. I've lost track of time! 🤣 39 seems respectable. It'll be interesting to see if he is big then. I've got the opposite issue in that they have made noises about getting her out early because she's too small. Since measuring isn't accurate I do wonder how many they are right about and how many not! We shall see. But I've got even more growth scans. 🙄

MrsTwentyNine · 25/05/2022 03:39

@Juno231 you got it right of course! Exactly 39 weeks!

They're worried he may get too big (already 7lb 1) 🙈 @paintfairy

Juno231 · 24/05/2022 22:34

@MrsTwentyNine ooh exciting! How come it's an induction?

@paintfairy she'll be 39 weeks per my maths but I wouldn't trust it for shit 🤣

OP posts:
paintfairy · 24/05/2022 20:51

@MrsTwentyNine how many weeks will you be then? And what is the reason?

MrsTwentyNine · 24/05/2022 19:46

Being induced in 2 weeks! Shock

paintfairy · 18/05/2022 18:52

@MimiArm God that must be a nightmare watching what you eat like that. I would be terrible. I'm struggling to even eat full stop right now. I'm not sure if it's because I'm hot or fat. 🤣 So anything going in is a bonus. I suppose at least it's temporary, but still, like being pregnant isn't bad enough.
@MrsTwentyNine I need to write a hospital bag list! I am hoping I've got most things but who even knows. 🤷‍♀️
@Juno231 prenatal massage sounds amazing. I feel I need that! 🤣

And yes the lack of scan thing is bizarre. Not so much on the measurement side as it can be largely inaccurate. But there are conditions that don't show until after 20 weeks.

Fingers crossed my nursery will be decorated by the weekend, so furniture can go in and then I can start sorting all my stuff out! As it's shoved all over atm.

MimiArm · 18/05/2022 17:18

@MrsTwentyNine Wow. You are ready to pop anytime now!! Roll on next week to finish up for mat leave. Great that you're all organised and hopefully you'll have a week or two to forget about work before baby arrives! Exciting!

Yes. GD for me! Thanks PCOS!! The good thing is I'm losing weight despite baby putting on weight haha!

MimiArm · 18/05/2022 17:13

@Juno231 Hey! it's going ok thanks. It's a huge adjustment but so long as I've carefully planned, it's manageable. The issue is that the readings fluctuate from day to day due to hormones. Something I can tolerate one day, I can't the next. I'm on meds now (low dose) so I have scope to increase before needing insulin. If I do need insult then I need to move hospitals again. It's just very, very restrictive. The only snack I can really have is raw nuts. Fruit sends me too high due to the natural sugars. If you do have a carb, you have to keep it low and pair it with something high fat and high in protein. It's still trial and error at this stage.

Growth scan wise, baby is bang on 50th percentile and at yesterdays scan, he was predicted to be 3lb 12. They measure the fluid and blood flow to placenta at each scan too as GD can impact on those. Everything is good.

31 weeks now and on basis they say I will be induced early, not long to go potentially!!

That's such an upheaval to be moving temporarily now but you seem to be happy enough. Sounds like the work on your own house will be lovely and you can look forward to moving back in again!

MrsTwentyNine · 18/05/2022 17:04

And yes to not being scanned at all after 20. I guess it's resource management with how the NHS is at the moment. Though I've had one at 29 weeks ish for growth and now coming up again. We also did another private one in between. I'm happy I'm having one next week as i want to absolutely confirm he is head down as I've heard midwives palpating can sometimes get it wrong and they find out during labour!!

Im sure all will be well with your scans @paintfairy - try not to worry!

MrsTwentyNine · 18/05/2022 17:01

Did I just read @MimiArm has GD? Oh no! Sorry you're having to go through this!! Hope it's been under control and manageable with diet!

36 weeks today ladies. Bag is packed (I think..need to double check items) Antenatal classes done ✅ Everything basic bought ✅ Maternity leave starting in a week! ⏰
Speaking of scans, I have one at 36+5 for growth again as he is measuring big. No talk of induction or c section or anything though yet so I'm staying positive.

Nice to hear from you both @Juno231 @paintfairy

Juno231 · 18/05/2022 16:21

@paintfairy I'm with you on that one - I have a growth scan at 36 weeks as that's just what my trust does across the board but find it crazy that lots of places don't check after 20 weeks at all!

28 weeks tomorrow for me - still haven't dragged my arse over for a whooping cough jab so need to get that sorted sharpish. Got my next MW appt on Tuesday I think which will be the first time they measure my tummy - I'm intrigued to see what the verdict is! Then I've got antenatal classes starting on Tuesday as well.

Oh and OH got me prenatal massages for my birthday I still need to use up so that is probably on my schedule for next week too.

@MimiArm how's it going with the GD? Is it a big adjustment to monitor it/watch what you eat?

We've just moved out of our house into a rent we'll be staying in probably the rest of the year as the house is being renovated and extended. On the one hand it's sad not to be able to go all out on a nursery after waiting for a baby for this long but I'm just happy that I'm finally in the property where I'll have her so at least I can start the nesting properly!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 18/05/2022 09:35

@MrsTwentyNine the growth scans should show if she's got space to grow in my womb. She's smaller end anyway which isn't helpful. The 28 week one was ok but then the consultant called and wasnt happy with one of the measurements, so bought my next scan forwards to tomorrow. 🙄

I do find it odd they don't check everyone at least once past 20 weeks though. I never realised they didn't until now. As some things do show later. I'm hoping with me it'll all be fine.

How's everyone getting on? Can't believe I'm 30 weeks already. Its going too fast!

MrsTwentyNine · 30/04/2022 10:49

Don't worry @paintfairy I still haven't got mine ready! I'm hoping to get it sorted this weekend though.
What have the growth scans shown? Is she within the normal parameters ? Why do they need to do so many then? Sad

paintfairy · 28/04/2022 11:00

@MrsTwentyNine Oh god. I just read that you should sort the hospital bag after 30 weeks and i'm nearly 28. I dont even own a suitable bag (what kind of thing do you even take?!) and neither do i have most the stuff for it! 🤔I have got a couple of nursing bras but only because i bought some 2nd hand that just happened to be that when i got bigger and needed more. 2 birds one stone kind of thing. But i will need more. I did order 2 nighties this week and i do own nipple cream. But i still need big pants, breast pads, big pads, nappies, all that stuff! Useless.
I have my first growth scan tomorrow. I'm so over scans, i have realised being left alone to get on with it all might have been more enjoyable. I know shes there, she moves. Actually think i felt hiccups for the first time yesterday! And despite the fact most my clothes are 2nd hand i've realised i have a massive issue if she is not a 'she' as he will look silly in pink!
