Cycle Day 1 - SMEP method?

MummyStevensToBe · 28/10/2021 16:18

Hi Mummies-to-be! Is anyone at a similar stage in their cycle and going to try the SMEP method this time? Would love to share the highs and lows of the journey together!

This is our second cycle, TTC baby #1, but first cycle I’m pretty sure we DTD around the wrong time / missed my ovulation day. Thought SMEP could give us a better chance!

I think I'm 9dpo today and felt a bit queasy in the morning (which can be a normal PMS symptom for me anyway!).
Took a FRER and it was negative :(
Why do I keep throwing my money away like this?!

mrsS21 · 16/11/2021 19:23

Hiya ladies! All ok here…no symptoms at the moment, feeling good. I’m 7/8dpo at the moment, was tempted to test on Friday (a little birthday test!) but tempted to now just wait it out until AF does/doesn’t show…not sure I can face another negative.
@ExPatHereForAChat we’re on month 4 too! Had October off due to needing a scan, but been trying since July. Let’s hope it’s lucky month 4 for the both of us!

Moonshine160 · 16/11/2021 09:50

I am also 8-9DPO. Feel like my boobs are a bit achey and I’m bloated but might just be imagining it. I’ve had loads of cramps but always do in the TWW regardless of the outcome! The waiting game is so hard.

MummyStevensToBe · 16/11/2021 07:09

Great idea @ExPatHereForAChat - it's tiring TTC so definitely make sure you reward yourself!

I know I will be exactly the same as you and @Peonies94 at that point in the cycle, but I think most people don't have early symptoms even if they are pregnant, so try not to worry too much - easier said than done, I know. X

@ExPatHereForAChat I’m 8-9 DPO so a day ahead, no symptoms either! Ah that’s a good idea, treating yourself with something nice! I know, I feel stupid saying I’m fed up as know people try way longer than me, and that it’s totally normal, but I feel the same!

ExPatHereForAChat · 16/11/2021 00:52

I'm currently 7 or 8 dpo and don't have any symptoms.
I really want this month to be the month and I'll be gutted if it isn't (which is ridiculous because I know the odds, and my periods still aren't 100% normal as I'm nursing my toddler).
It's only month 4 TTC and I'm getting fed up already.
On the plus side, I've promised myself if AF comes, I'm going to get a full head of highlights with a few pink streaks as a little "gift" to me!

MummyStevensToBe · 15/11/2021 10:11

Thanks Ladies! Now to find something to occupy my thoughts now I don't have to do an OPK everyday 😂

A little worried we might not have DTD enough though - my app has predicted ovulation today based on CB results and BBT, but DH was so tired last night that we didn't DTD. We did on Friday and Saturday though - and will do today too so fingers crossed 🤞 then I'll be joining you guys in the TWW... help!!!

How is everyone getting on with their waiting games?

Ah I'd say that's a relief @Mummystevenstobe
I love to see that static little smiley face!
I think you should find it gets used to your levels so next month you get far fewer flashy days

mrsS21 · 14/11/2021 12:14

That’s great news @MummyStevensToBe!! Finally static smiley :) sounds like you’re covered for it with those days.

11 days flashing smiley is crazy, but it’s great you kept going to your peak.

Peonies94 · 14/11/2021 08:57

@MummyStevensToBe I know, I was Googling like mad when mine kept coming up as flashing! I only had 2 the following month, so hopefully will be the same for you!

MummyStevensToBe · 14/11/2021 08:42

@Peonies94 yes first time using CB - last cycle I just tracked BBT. Used both this time to try and be more accurate! So weird that the first time we both had 11! Here's hoping we've both done enough 🤞

OP posts:
Peonies94 · 14/11/2021 08:17

@MummyStevensToBe is this your first time using CB? I had 11 flashy my first time!

Peonies94 · 14/11/2021 07:57

@mrsS21 yeah we covered tonight! My cycles very from around 35-55 days! Last months 44, month before 50, month before was 37!
@MummyStevensToBe have covered tonight so I’ll test again! I had the tiniest amount of EWCM last time, but nothing this time and no o pains either which i usually get!🤷‍♀️

MummyStevensToBe · 13/11/2021 22:22

Ah that's frustrating @Peonies94 - like @mrsS21 if you DTD today you'll probably cover everything :) it's exhausting though isn't it?!

I FINALLY had my static smiley today! After 11 flashing! We DTD yesterday and going to again tonight 🤞and then maybe tomorrow as well? Do you think that sounds about right? I'm tired just thinking about it 😅😂

OP posts:
mrsS21 · 13/11/2021 21:03

@Peonies94 how long would your cycle usually be?

mrsS21 · 13/11/2021 21:02

Oh no @Peonies94!! Does that mean that this peak is your actual ovulation? Did you get any ewcm with the one last week? Hopefully dtd tonight will cover your bases :)

I’ve felt lousy all day, trying not to read anything into it as it’s so early.

Peonies94 · 13/11/2021 12:26

@mrsS21 I felt the same this morning, nothing major but slightly dizzy when showering this am before work, and then a little bit of a sucky feeling which passed after I ate!

Peonies94 · 13/11/2021 12:24

How’s everyone doing ? I’m confused! Had my peak with CB at CD15 last Saturday, and with IC the following morning, been testing with IC since; and today, I had an almost as dark as my peak at what’s predicted as 5DPO! (cd 21)! Now I’m not sure if we focused all our attention on last week (5 times in 7 days) when it wasn’t my actual peak! I’ll try and cover this positive to some extent, but DH is exhausted and dont think we’ll manage anywhere near as much as last time!

EvelynSalt · 13/11/2021 10:07
@EvelynSalt let's hope it goes quickly! What day are you planning on testing? It's so hard and also super cruel because I feel like so many of the symptoms are the same as if AF is coming. Keep us posted with how you're getting on!
I think I'll try and wait until the scheduled first day of AF. I'm a little worried that my dates are off as I tried an online calculator and it gave me a totally different ovulation date. But I went off the CB OBK which wasn't far off what the Glo app and Flo app had predicted to fingers crossed.

Hope you're getting on ok!

mrsS21 · 13/11/2021 06:49

Can totally understand that @Moonshine160 every negative is hard. I didn’t do any of this with our first, as we discovered we were expecting at 6 weeks. One super-strong BFP later to confirm.
This time, since having a few months where it felt exactly like first pregnancy, I’ve been bad for testing when I’ve felt some symptoms.

I think doing the opks has helped as I know where I am in my cycle - there’s no point testing when I know it’s so early.

I’ve got up this morning to serious nausea, 4dpo…

Moonshine160 · 12/11/2021 21:16

I’m in the TWW too and this is the bit that I can’t stand. Some people start testing daily but I never dare test because I can’t stand the disappointment when it’s negative :(

mrsS21 · 12/11/2021 20:43

Couldn’t agree more @MummyStevensToBe it’s those moments where the app says ‘high chance if you dtd today’ and we hit a couple of those. It’s like “we’ve tried smep this time, so obviously it’s gonna happen”! I feel nervously excited for it, like it’s our month, but am terrified to get my hopes up and come crashing down in 9 days time x

Firsttimetrier · 12/11/2021 12:58

@MummyStevensToBe I used some calculator that predicted my due date as the 4th august which is my nephews birthday, which made me excited but then trying to stay chill.
DH and I have always said we’d like a late late July due date as that would mean he would have pat leave then the summer holidays as he’s a teacher. I’ve manifested it, so we shall see!

I’ve had cramping on and off but I know it’s absolutely nothing as I’m only 2DPO!

@MummyStevensToBe I'm on CD20 now, so still a while before I can test. Trying really hard not to get hopes up but, as you say, it's tough! I'm curious about early symptoms and probably need to try not to symptom spot.
