Low amh 1.3

This is my first time on this forum and I would love to know if anyone has experience of this.

I am just 41 been trying to conceive for 2 years. Finally this year we had some tests and husband has low motility. We went to see fertility clinic and I had scan and blood test last week. Amh was 1.3 and they said could only see 2 follicles on my scan. They were very candid about chance of success with my own eggs. Has anyone had experience of IVF success with low Amh and are there any better alternatives?

@PossumGeorge thank you for giving me a little hope. I am am contacting the different clinics now the Aml results are 1.3 pmol so really in the diminished ovarian reserve category. It is a real shock to me. I start accupuncture next week.

I only had 3 follicles with last ivf. Was argc, they don’t even test amh and are more interested in fsh. Obviously my amh would have been super low with three follicles. Had short protocol. Am in third trimester. Don’t give up. They had confidence in me and said even women with one follicle were getting pregnant. I’m nearly 41

I am with Create and did my ivf cycle in May with low amh. I only really had 3 follicles doing much, although on the day they collected 7 eggs. 4 didn't do anything, so the original 3 were the ones to watch. All 3 fertilised and made top quality embryos. My first transfer ended in a chemical pregnancy but my second transfer was successful (found out yesterday).

There is hope, I'd recommend seeing what they have to say. My personal journey is very complex (recurrent losses) and I've found them to be very supportive. Best wishes x

I had a very low AMH in my late thirties, so low that I was told that no reputable IVF clinic would
take me on as my chances of conceiving were so low (this was 10 years ago though). I was absolutely devastated but started acupuncture for stress and to see if it would help with conception. I was sceptical but 2 months later I was pregnant. Straightforward pregnancy and healthy baby.

I thoroughly recommend acupuncture. Please don’t give up hope. Good luck

Thank you @OrangeLeavesFall I have now ordered some of the supplements. I am investigating mild ivf and checking the nearest clinics to me who offer it. My appointment last week was with Care and they were really pushing egg donation. Me and the husband have talked about this and feel that is not for us and we would rather adopt. I feel annoyed at myself for leaving it so late to get help and we have been together 9 years so should have started trying earlier but because my mum had me older I think I was blinkered into thinking everything would be fine.

I feel like there is so much I don't know. I had blood test at the start of the year with my GP and they said everything looked good but of course they don't test Amh.

Yes, Create are who I went with for this reason. I also take 400mg of CoQ10 from Pharmanord (Gold) each day which has really improved my egg quality. This one was recommended in the book 'It Starts With The Egg' by Rebecca Fett.
So even though they can only retrieve a small number of eggs during an IVF cycle, the quality have been so much better this time around.
I know it's sad news, but you honestly do still have a chance. x

Thank you so much. I feel incredibly sad and wish we had followed up early 2020 now but just thought it takes time and didn't want to make a fuss because of the pandemic. I am looking in to acupuncture now. X

Create (the IVF clinic) specialise in mild IVF which is supposed to be really good for ladies with low AMH. Maybe something to look into?

OrangeLeavesFall · 27/10/2021 22:14

I have a low AMH however, I have been able to have IVF. I was seeing a fertility acupuncturist and she said she often sees women with incredibly low AMH levels - even as low as 0.1 who have become pregnant.
Some say AMH doesn't need to be the focus as you can absolutely still get pregnant even when it is very low.
