2 sacs at early scan, can only see 1 baby

Hey!
1st ever post!

I had my early scan on Friday and was a complete nervous wreck after 3 year ttc and failed IVF in May me and DH had gotten used to receiving bad news.

The scan went well but has left me completely mind blown.. scan showed two sacs one showed baby on the right place measuring at 5w6d and we could hear a heart beat, the second sac was hidden behind so they couldn't see it properly so rebooked us in for Friday. Feeling a rush of way too many emotions, has this been experienced by anyone?

It may be just hard to see thst sack... 5w is quite early or may be that was initially twins but one failed to grow. Vanishing twin is actually is fairly common (about one in three twin pregnancies) and we suffered it ourselves at 8 weeks. Unfortunately you'll just have to wait and see whether it's a living twib

Was it ivf in the end and did you have one or two put back

It means there were 2 eggs implant (or attempt to implant). So you may be carrying twins (or more!). I had IVF and 2 embryos put back. At my 6 week scan I had 2 sacs but only 1 had an embryo in the other other was empty, which they told me meant I'd had an early miscarriage of the one in the empty sac, but the embryo in the other one was developing well. Apparently its not uncommon in IVF patients.
