I had my third early miscarriage in mid-late August. Had two blood tests, one with very low hcg (

I think this is an old thread, but was your pregnancy successful OP? Sending love

@Mac55555 sorry to hear about your miscarriage. You might like to join this thread for more up to date discussions as this is an old thread. www.mumsnet.com/talk/miscarriage/4711804-journey-after-miscarriage-support-thread-jan-2023?page=7&reply=122967003

Fingers crossed that Friday's scan shows a new pregnancy! Is the pregnancy test you did now the same brand as the one that showed negative last time?

Mac55555 · 09/01/2023 22:11

TW. Miscarriage mentioned and pregnancy.

Hi guys. Just asking if anyones had anything similar - bad or good endings.

We miscarried at 12 weeks 3 weeks ago - i had surgery and my bleeding stopped the next day (20th of December)

Me and my partner have been sexually active since the 27th (soon for some i know but going on to try again is the only thing seeming to get us through this)

I had a negative test 14 days after the miscarriage - Fast forward to last night and today i’ve had very faint positives, two at home and one at the doctors (i did one because i had what felt like implantation pain) - i have NO idea whats going on but the GP doctor has referred me back to EPAU.

They said one of two things, the negative was false and my HCGs are still coming down OR a very very very early new pregnancy.

I have a scan on friday to confirm whether there was anything left from the surgery still causing a positive (which is unlikely) and a blood test to see my HCGs.

Has anyone experienced this before? Surely its way way too soon to know if i’m pregnant again? And surely they would know if they left something behind and i would have had other symptoms like infection etc if this was the case? So a possible false negative and HCGs coming down i reckon?

Beyond confused and this glimmer of hope of a new pregnancy or the horror of something still being there from the miscarriage is going to feel like i’ve lost the baby twice if its a bad outcome.

I wish waited for my first cycle but i am so desperate for a baby and i can’t think of anything else.

just similar stories if any?

Thankyou so much in advance.

Pictured is last night and todays test.

Uh I feel rough. Definitely not complaining (!) hopefully it is a good sign that I was hugging the toilet bowl at 2.30am...

That would be great if you got a scan every two weeks until 12 week scan
Yeh the private scans are good, I used babybond and they've always been fab but plenty to choose from.
:)

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/10/2021 17:06

JasonMomoasgirlfriend thank you.

Apparently they've seen a spike in covid cases recently so are trying to protect the inpatients and staff - understandable but a bit disappointing!
I'm not sure how many I'll get - they said a scan in two weeks, but the nurse practitioner also said as progesterone may prevent bleeding but its possible the heartbeat could still stop, there may be fortnightly scans while I'm on it, so I think it might be fortnightly til 12 weeks? I hope so!
If not I think I'll book private scans for reassurance. I might book one anyway if DH can't come in to the next scan so he can see too.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 10/10/2021 16:40

Great news and I'm so happy you got to see the heartbeat. Can't believe your husband wasn't allowed in..that's insane now.
That's great you get another scan in 2 weeks time as well. Do you think you'll be eligible for scans all throughout this pregnancy then? That would be good

PairofPears · 10/10/2021 13:36

This is brilliant news, congratulations!

Lou98 · 10/10/2021 10:55

@AwkwardPaws27 aww congratulations! 🥰😁

toadstool32 · 09/10/2021 21:35

Just as a note of caution oo - progesterone can make you bleed so try not to freak out if you do. Administering them rectally can lessen chance of bleeding.

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/10/2021 18:48

Thank you everyone.
I am feeling more positive, & grateful for the care from the EPAU (it can be hit and miss at times, but today they were great). I know the progesterone and aspirin may do nothing but at least I feel like I'm doing something other than just waiting.
I have another scan in two weeks which is good - I think I can manage my anxiety for 2 weeks (whereas the idea of waiting til 12 weeks would stress me out!)

Great news! I was thinking of you earlier and hoping it had all gone well. Are you feeling more positive? I hope so x

SecretDoor · 09/10/2021 13:32

Congratulations

swanswallow · 09/10/2021 12:20

Congratulations OP! I've just started TTC again after a miscarriage and this brings me hope too. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/10/2021 11:52

Early scan today - 6w1d and there is a heartbeat. Very happy as we've never seen one before.
Unfortunately DH wasn't allowed in due to social distancing, but I have been prescribed progesterone and aspirin.
I have another scan in 2 weeks time.

That all looks super promising!

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 04/10/2021 08:36

Yay! Yes deffo rising. Great news... congratulations :) :) 👣

AwkwardPaws27 · 04/10/2021 08:27

I know I said I'd step away from the tests... well I cracked this morning, but I got a nice strong line on a cheapie & a 3+ on Clearblue!

I know its only testing hcg but it's a bit reassuring that the levels still seem to be rising rather than falling.

Thinking of you @AwkwardPaws27 and wishing you all the very best - agree with PP, focus on the 'now', you are pregnant, hooray! And focus on looking after yourself and staying healthy :)

AwkwardPaws27 · 03/10/2021 22:08

Thank you Lou98 that is reassuring.
I'm really tired and scared of overdoing it, so not doing much apart from work (from home) & walking our dog. I do need to find a Netflix series or something to keep myself occupied!

OP posts:
Lou98 · 03/10/2021 21:53

@AwkwardPaws27 don't worry about the back pain, I had bad back pain and cramps a lot during the first couple months of my pregnancy, even from early on. My baby was absolutely fine.

Try keep yourself busy until your scan and fingers crossed everything goes to plan!🤞

AwkwardPaws27 · 03/10/2021 21:27

I've had mild lower back ache this afternoon - no bleeding so I'm probably just overthinking every minor thing!
I just need to focus on getting to Saturday & the early scan, & try not to worry about things I cannot change.
I have a work-related exam tomorrow so need to study rather than stressing!

OP posts:
AwkwardPaws27 · 01/10/2021 11:33

Drs told me to call the EPAU; I have a scan booked with them on Saturday 9th October (they agreed to scan due to having three previous losses). I really hope I get to see a viable pregnancy this time.
I need to study this weekend as I have a workrelated exam on Monday so I should be busy, just finding it very hard to focus!

OP posts:
JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 11:16

Just try and be as healthy as you can. Try and make plans to keep you busy x

AwkwardPaws27 · 01/10/2021 10:18

Yes I'm taking the pregnacare plus ones with the additional omega capsules.
I am very anxious - I am trying really hard not to be but I've felt nothing but apprehensive this time around. I don't dare get excited or attached to this pregnancy.
Last time I was convinced it would be different, third time lucky, & instead I ended up having multiple internal scans as they thought it might be ectopic & miscarried anyway.
