What do you teach Abby? I teach English in secondary school and love it for the most part. Tough inner city school but the kids are big softies really....

hi i am sorry to gatecrash when i have'nt been on for a while but do any of you know if you can just generally feel like c**p if pg i not due for af till next week and it our 1st month of ttc and since monday i have felt lousy i ache all over have no energy have felt a little sick at times and now and again it feels like a kind of tugging in my nipples anybody got any answers????

Hello all can I join you again. I deliberately stayed away in the 2ww because I wasn't going to symptom spot and stress myself out but I did anyway so here am I on CD2 with nothing whatsoever to spot but what the hell.

This month I am not testing until I get to CD31 with no AF. That is my new years resolution.

Bucky Clever you getting a lovely promotion with pay rise to match. I think Pigley got faint and dizzy at the Gym and hey presto got a BFP. Also promotion should mean a little sods law in that perhaps a BFP will come now? Here's hoping.

Bucky - it sounds like you are getting some very good symptoms! Do you recognise any from last time and think it could mean that you are packing away your tampax for the next year or so or are you coming down with a cold? . Make sure you carry around smelling salts in case you do faint dramatically

Ooooh DrJollybear - hail resident clever person . Quite fancy going back to uni and being a student again, but a PhD sounds like WORK. It's only because I still hanker after going to the Friday night MegaBop at the Union for £2 entry and £1 a pint . I spent 5 years as a student, so did better than average anyway.

All children were back safe and sound (as far as I know - haven't had any angry calls that I'm aware of, touch wood!) [frelief emoticon].

Bucky and Mums - have had cramps on and off all month, am "womb aware" all the time. Boobs are sore - tho it has been bloody freezing today. I'm secretly convinced I'm pg. Every time someone talks to me about work next year, I'm thinking I'll be off or on maternity leave. This is why AF is bound to turn up next week as expected. Shall we all test on Sunday and see?

I don't know what I'll do next month if I'm not. I'm finding it quite hard not to get completely wrapped up in ttc. People say relax, but once you've started, and failed, it becomes harder and harder to do.

Scary - hard labour! Zero tolerance! I find it amazing that some people are that bold. I hope the police get them. I know that your insurance probably covers the damage, but it's the time, and the worry, and 10 days before Christmas. What s*s. .

So, the theatre. In order to make The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe into a musical, they create songs about nothing in particular with dodgy lyrics. Particular favourites last night include "turkish delight, chewy and chunky, blah blah (forgotten that bit), I've never tasted anything so turkish before." This was made especially hysterical by one of the snow queen's reindeers giving a kinky wink whilst singing the last line.

Whilst I'm typing, the dispatches advert for a programme about faulty Christmas toys is on, showing a little boy on a drip in festive pjs. This follows the ad last week for Christmas credit crisis with a Christmas tree in a nice room, that suddenly turns barren. I know that they're both important messages, but does anyone else find them really depressing? Channel 4 are grinches .

On the subject of names, I am divorced and still have my ex husband's name! So if/when I have dc, if I don't change it, I will have one man's children and another man's name. Not good . However, my maiden name sucked so I shall have to either adopt DPs name by deed poll or make one up. I quite fancy Bucky McConaughey (after the actor) although it's a bit of a mouthful (bet he is too lol...sorry that was a bit mucky but couldn't help myself )Or maybe I could make up something exotic like Bucky Delagrange (said in a sophisticated French accent).

Hmm, note to self, must sort that out.

Afternoon all!

My odd spotting yesterday has turned into AF. I'm disappointed but not as much as I was last month oddly I feel rather upbeat today and have already been planning BDing time for next month. The best time happily coincides with the festive break and both DH and I are off work between Christmas and New Year .

I struggled with the whole changing name thing but decided to change it in the end mainly because when (note my optimism!) we have children I want us to all have the same name. Plus I'm doing a PhD and soon we will be Mr and Dr --- ... I like that a lot!!!

Well, I know that she likes to be called by her maiden name, but find it silly, myself,shrug of shoulders at lack of understanding>. So we put them down as mr & mrs.
Should have known there would be a reaction but did not expect it to be publicly posted on the web!! Just typical SIL behaviour.

S'not fair, I want some symptoms!
I think we defo missed the egg this month.
I read, on fertility friend, that the egg can die off in as little as 6 hours
We were about 22hrs after I felt ov pains.
Still, only 5dpo, so there is time for symptom spotting yet.

DG - what is happening with you, you poor thing . Body playing tricks on you. Not good.

twinkling - I kept my own name, but not through any particular reason other than I like my name and it is "me" IYKWIM. DH has a nice name, but he didn;t care if I took his or not. But by keeping my name, I did expect an element of confusion and to be called "Mrs DH Name" rather than Ms GryffinGirl. I don't get on my high horse about it if someone addresses a Christmas card to me with my married name, even if technically it is not my name. There are other things to get worked up about - i don;t get offended, but there are lots of threads about this point on here and people do get steamed up about it.

Will definitely give it a shot tonight but think its another month lost - plus my luteal phase is about 16 days (I think!) so this means its another long cycle (should be about 42 days). But this is all elementary as I know that my body never quite does what I think it will....

DG I too am working from home today and am still in my pj's! Have even gone all out and put on my Uggs (I know, I know, but got them cheap in Oz and when in Rome etc...) so am looking particularly slovenly today. Have added a sparkly cardi to get me in the festive spirit tho!

I agree GG wait till you get back. If there is no problem you could come back with a BFP, if there is a problem then like you say why would you want to know over the party period!

07CTW Don't lose hope. You did have some symptoms...you never know . I stared at my super cheap Ebay tests this morning. They were WAY cheaper than I realised, i.e. just stick of paper . So not sure how they will work. Apparently they are early tests, but I have yet to be convinced. Anyway, if I don't chicken out, and AF doesn't turn up, I will test on Sunday AM.

DG What's going on Poppet? . Did they EVER tell you about your test results, you were going to ring the doctor weren't you, or was that going to be next week?

PicknMix you can get EWCM 5 days before you ov. Although if you felt a twinge, it might be imminent. I say just go for it, at least there will be chance! Fingers crossed.

Bucky The smell thing is another good sign. Are you still testing Sunday? I think I will but since I last posted I don't feel the PG symptoms. It really is as if I made it all up then once I got it off my chest felt there is no hope again this month, even the stitch thing seems to have gone.

hello to everyone else and sorry if I have missed anything - I haven't been able to keep up and check in as much as I;d like.

Update - DH went to the doctor's this morning and had a far better exerience than me! He has been referred to the hospital to test his little swimmers. Amazingly, he can go at any time to the hospital for the test (walk in clinic ), but you have to abstain from BD-ing for 3 days before you go. We haven't this week and Mon, Tues, Wed next week are the KEY days for us, then it's Christmas, then we are away . Sooooo, the question is, do we give BD-ing a miss during the crucial time this month or postpone everything until nearly Feb when we get back from our holiday? I am inclined towards the lattter. I think it would put a tremendous dampener on our Christmas if we found out something major. Oh decisions, decisions....

My friend hasn't taken her husbands surname (we have many long conversations mulling over the merits of it) but she hasn't told her family that she has kept her name as they are quite old fashioned and she's not quite sure they'd understand!

Yes, she did. The was two-fold though because she is constantly doing our heads in (ok prob mainly mine) with her nonsense, but also cos she actually posted the comment. It was so clearly aimed at us cos that is how we communicate really.
But I feel that she did not take the name, to please her mother (who she so desperately wants to please but who never is) and because she does not think much of BIL family. Long story and history

Twinklingfairy pmsl at . Do I take it that she took offence to you addressing the card to Mr & Mrs B, instead of Ms A & Mr B? If so, I would roll my eyes twice and say, if you are a strong independant woman and you know your own name, why would it bother you if somebody called you Mrs B (unless you think your husband is a muppet of course, and then you shouldn't have married him). I think, keep your name if you want to, many of my friends have for a variety of reasons, professional, being the only child etc., but it's pathetic to get upset if you get the odd bit of correspondence addressed to you both traditionally.
