Hello, am new here, just hoping to spot some symptoms myself, on CD26 but only 9DPO so a bit early to test! Grr! Noticed the post about temping and I got a thermometer that looks identical to the access diagnostics one for about £4 incl postage on eBay, have been chuffed to bits with it so far.

No AF here either but I'm not very regular so no cause for excitment yet... if there is still no sign of AF by the weekend, that will be another story

sorry to hear your news TF. When my grandad died a few years ago, i did not cry until my sisters and i made our selves gins + tonic in memory of him. Then we all wept buckets. Your reaction is perfectly normal and right

Sometimes grief doesn't make you react like you'd expect to. My older brother died almost three years ago now and I didn't cry for ages, I just felt really numb. He'd been ill for a while, like your Grandad but I was just really shocked I suppose that he'd actually died. Obviously I don't want to presume to know how you feel but I thought I'd share my experience (hope tha's ok). Maybe it just hasn't sunk in for you yet.

HI all,, thought I would share the bad news that my granddad passed away last night
He had a minor heart attack on the 2nd and a few more turns since. He was on quite strong drugs to help with the pain and the anxiety when he became breathless.
He was ready to go and was making quips about that being the case why coudl he not get stronger drugs and that morphin was not all he had heard it to be
But he was the last of true gentlemen and he will be mised sorely by us all.
I believe he went peacefully and accepting the decision of God.
His family were around him and he had said his goodbyes, though not literaly, he wouldn't want to frighten.
I am feeling a bit numb about it all. My mum phoned me this morning, waking me at 9am ( I know, shame on me, I really should have been up) and I took the news calmly. She told me that both my brothers and sister had cried immediately. Am I heartless??
I think I was expecting it every day since he went into hospital and part of me was hoping for it, as I didn't want him to have to continue his life stripped if his dignity and independance which he was rapidly losing. And he made us all aware, for a few years now, that he was ready o go and was tiring of this life, so keen to see his wife again.

I have had a little cry, my sister will be in pieces and I am surprised by both my brothers reactions.

MrsEi25 I wondered where you'd got to! I agree with SH it sounds like a faulty test to me, complain though and they should send you another one.

Someone was saying on a thread the other day about cheap reliable tests that they do 2 tests for £3 at Tesco or that Poundland do tests. If you want a brand name one you'll probably have to wait till tomorrow (why are they SOOO expensive?!), but it might be worth getting a cheap one if you can't wait. Good luck!

It sounds to me like your test was faulty Ei. Call up the manufacturer and complain. They'll send you another. Or, if you can, take it into the chemist where you bought it and ask them to interpret it! Then they might give you another one...

hi ladies
im still waitin for AF here and i am officially 4 days late!! i did a test on sunday and BFN so i thought i would leave it a few days and did one this morn and it was a weird one i can tell ya!! i was wonderin if anyone has had this kind of problem?? the test had a diagonal dark pink line to the left of the pos/neg window but nothing further towards the middle like it would usually be. what dya make of that then?? DH reckons its not a BFP unless its in the middle but i dont no what to think!! i dont even get paid til tomorrow so i cant even buy another test til then an its totally doin my head in!
i am never this late either so there has to be somethin amiss in there!!
how is everyone holdin up waitin to test??

No, I am on CD22....Did you just get AF? Actually, just checked it again and somebody has corrected you and put you back to CD22 so you are the same as PicknMix and I again, but wrong if you are on CD2!

Really? I have little idea what day I am on myself... Fertilityfriend thinks CD2. Is that where you are?
I am on for (I think) a 33 day cycle, so you may be ahead of me in real terms.

aah a ferning thing scary. We have actually discussed those before. I noticed in the waiting room you seem to have lost a day on the register. You were cycle buddies with PicknMix and I for a short while...

I think fertility microscopes are something to do with inspecting your spit, but I could well be wrong. I'm all for the science bit, but am more GCSE than Phd!

Have just re-read my post about the decimal places and no it doesn't make sense! Apologies to mibbes. So here goes again: if your temp shifts from e.g. 36.31 to 36.59 then you know that it a pretty big jump... but if you had 1dp on your thermometer you might be wondering if your temp really had jumped. It could have gone from 36.39 to 36.50 for example, which might just be normal run-of-the-mill stuff for you. Think that makes more sense. Either way "they " (whoever they are - makers of bbts perhaps...) claim temping ladies need one!

Have thoroughly confused self now. Perhaps it is time for bed.

Oh and I too am on the dreaded 2ww wait, but am not hopeful really....pretty sure I Bd'd too early. . No symptoms to speak of except a bit of CM and slighly larger (.)(.)s. Not even Dolly Parton ones though

Well with all this talk of temping...I want to be in the temping gang too . So, looked at your link scaryhairy and think I will get a thermometer, however, JUST WHAT EXACTLY is a 'fertility microscope'?? That sounds scary. No pun intended.

twinklingfairy it looks like you and I will be finding out at about the same time this month. I think it bodes well if you have already conceived at this time of year. In my family, we are mostly conceived in Sept and I have often wondered if we have a more fertile time of year.

I would hate to jinx things but I am feeling more positive this month too...

Generally "they" recommend that you get a thermometer that has 2 decimal places. Again, Access diagnostics does a pretty cheap one:

The reason for having 2dp is that if you get temps that go from 35.0 before ov to 36.9 after ov you might not notice if you only have 1dp on your thermometer. On the other hand, if your temperature shift is pronounced enough you might notice without buying a special thermometer.

Does that make sense?

Final temping question - is it essential to have 2 decimal places as suggested earlier ? My digital thermometer only goes to 1 and I notice above dg and ScaryHairy you have both listed your temps to 1 dec place. Am I ok using the one I have ?

dg - yes, temp rise arrived this morning, up to 36.79 so as long as that carries on for the next 2 days I think the conclusion is that I ov'd on Saturday or early Sunday, as it generally seems to take a couple of days for my proper rise to happen after ov. Sat would be good as DH did his part on Friday and Saturday. It's just a shame that getting the timing right does not automatically equal success! It looks like your temps are very similar to mine. I am below 36.6 pre-ov and above 36.7 afterwards.

Jollybear - I have not used them, but have seen a lot of recommendations of Access Diagnostics (who sell tests online). I guess you might get tests cheaper on ebay but I've also read posts from people saying they bought duds from ebay.
