Or what had you changed in the weeks leading up to conceiving?

DC is 4 and we conceived first try.

TTC number 2 for a year now and feel I've tried EVERYTHING.

Vitamins, diet, conceive plus, opk's, prayers!

DH has had a sperm count and all is well above average. I had an internal scan and all looks normal apart from a small fibroid. I have been referred to the fertility clinic.

Desperately trying in the meantime though as it could take 6 months to be seen.

It's the most annoying thing when you're trying to get pregnant and people tell you just to relax and it will happen, but that's what worked for us! I was tormenting myself with ovulation testing, pregnancy testing, trying to time things etc that I just needed a break, decided to forget about it for a month and hey presto I fell pregnant!

Second time around, I didn't bother going back on the pill after having DC1 because we were getting older and just thought we'd let nature take its course without actively trying. And I fell pregnant a few months later.

Went on holiday, two weeks AI in Tenerife. Decided to give myself two weeks off trying to conceive - drank loads of alcohol, ate everything I fancied, had several ice creams in one day, and conceived my rainbow baby after a year of trying and one mc.

bluedart · 09/09/2021 20:35

Used progesterone cream. Temp tracking showed that I have a v short luteal phase. Conceived first month after 2 years of trying. I will never know if it was a coincidence.

MissTheobald · 09/09/2021 20:32

Conceived dc1 straight away. Took much longer with dc2 (I had a referral to the hospital to investigate which I ended up not needing).
What I did differently that month was to stop planning sex, basically. We both had some kind of horrible flu (this was long before covid, I should say!) and iirc were off our faces on nightnurse much of the time, although I probably wouldn't recommend that! In fact in hindsight I wonder whether I'd been miscalculating my fertile days.

I quit my incredibly stressful job and had a wonderful month off. Then went back to a new, less stressful job and found out I was pregnant in the first week Blush

PrincessesRUs · 09/09/2021 20:30

Similar to you op, first baby conceived the first month, second baby took 18 months. We did nothing different on month 18 so just luck!

cheeseismydownfall · 09/09/2021 20:26

Ditched OPK and tracked temperature instead. Most importantly paid attention to cervical mucus. Conceived that month after over a year of trying, and then same again for two subsequent pregnancies.

Metallicalover · 09/09/2021 20:23

After ttc for 2.5 years, failed IVF (the round took nearly 3 months due to complications and should have been done in 6 weeks) unexplained infertility. Due to start another round of IVF stressed to hell as we knew what we had to go through! Hoping to god that we don't have to do it again! Had the most unromantic, high pressure let's have sex as I'm ovulating sex.
Fell pregnant!
All this relax and you will conceive is crap in my opinion.
Hope you have your baby soon xxx

We gave up. Had been trying for 3 years and we accepted defeat, went away for the weekend, got drunk and ate loads of bad food.

Latenightreader · 09/09/2021 20:19

I forgot to mention that the transfer where I got more sleep was the one which resulted in my daughter!

Latenightreader · 09/09/2021 20:18

A bit different because I had IVF, but around the time of my fourth transfer (I also had four unsuccessful IUIs) I got lots of sleep. I made a point of going to bed at a decent hour, aiming to get at least eight hours, preferably nine. Apart from that, I didn’t try the things I’d attempted before, mainly pineapple!

Twizbe · 09/09/2021 20:18

After 2.5 years of infertility my husband was sent to South Africa for 2 weeks. Scheduled to leave the day before I ovulated that month.

We had so much fun saying goodbye 😜 and after 2+ years had ruled out that month.

In the middle weekend I had a Eurovision party and got smashed!

The day he flew home my period hadn't arrived so I tested. Was shocked to finally see 2 pink lines. I FaceTimed him straight away lol.

MistyFrequencies · 09/09/2021 20:18

Oh and lost weight

FTEngineerM · 09/09/2021 20:17

Changed jobs.
I was very very stressed, so much so I’d be almost shaking coming home.

I later found out that fat read is very bad for fertility.

Minibea · 09/09/2021 20:17

Stopped tracking ovulation, temps etc and thought we’d try to relax before going to the GP to start the ball rolling after TTC for almost 18m. This might be TMI Blush but I also stopped laying with my legs up after DTD and went straight to the loo afterwards. Kept up the vits etc and I had lost about a stone in weight before getting lucky. Not sure which bit helped though!

MistyFrequencies · 09/09/2021 20:17

Legs up against the wall every single time for at least 10 minutes after sex.

aimss4777 · 09/09/2021 20:16

I also stopped tracking a month or so prior and just stopped thinking about it!! Deffo easier said than done and I was so sceptical about it, best of luck. X

Wapawapa · 09/09/2021 20:14

Reflexology and progesterone

Ragwort · 09/09/2021 20:13

Err nothing .. wasn't 'trying', DH much keener than me Grin.

saamantha19881 · 09/09/2021 20:12

SMEP

MintyGreenDream · 09/09/2021 20:12

Nothing. We could only have sex 8 days a month as dh worked away mon to fri

Chocoqueen · 09/09/2021 20:11

Used a clear blue opk and dtd twice on the day I got the static smiley (we didn't do it at any other time during that fertile window for various reasons). It was either to do with that or relief that we'd exchanged on our new house the previous day 😆. Found out I was pregnant 12 days after moving in.

We'd been trying to move for a good couple of years, and ttc for 11 months so do wonder if the knowledge we were finally moving meant my body decided the time was right.

Nillynally · 09/09/2021 20:10

Both times just after a holiday and no real 'trying'

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 09/09/2021 20:09

For me, it was the first month (after 7 months TTC) I used OPKs and monitored CM and realised that I had been mistiming my ovulation every other month. That might have not had anything to do with why I conceived that month though, it’s mostly just luck isn’t it.

brightwhite · 09/09/2021 20:04

Thank you all, looks like I need to chill out!

Easier said than done Grin
