Or what had you changed in the weeks leading up to conceiving?

DC is 4 and we conceived first try.

TTC number 2 for a year now and feel I've tried EVERYTHING.

Vitamins, diet, conceive plus, opk's, prayers!

DH has had a sperm count and all is well above average. I had an internal scan and all looks normal apart from a small fibroid. I have been referred to the fertility clinic.

Desperately trying in the meantime though as it could take 6 months to be seen.

Absolutely nothing... !

Winecurestiredness · 13/09/2021 10:27

We enjoyed doing the deed for what it was and not just for trying for a baby. We remembered we were a couple that liked doing it together and enjoyed that. Every time I thought of getting pregnant during, I would divert my thoughts to my DH instead and think about him not getting pregnant. I also started focusing on me. I started exercising and getting into healthy eating, cooking myself nourishing meals and following a mostly vegetarian diet. Took a multivitamin, had lots of 'mummy and me' adventures with my eldest and found the good points in having one child for now. And just as I was becoming a smug mum of one enjoying my relationship, child, and life in general DS2 showed up in my womb and that was the end of my blissful existence Grin

As some pp have already put, I relaxed, forgot about trying to get pregnant and gave myself a break. I was seeing a specialist who gave me very little chance of getting pregnant so I just thought I’d leave myself and our hopes in their hands. Got very drunk over the Christmas period and those elusive blue lines appeared in January when I reluctantly took a test. Bought the cheapest most rubbish pregnancy test ever because I thought it was a waste of money testing (had previously spent a fortune on the digital clearblue ones and they were always negative)!
Wishing you luck OP. Hope it happens for you soon. Flowers

Both times STOPPED TTC

QueenPeary · 13/09/2021 10:12

Stopped eating peas after I read about it in Grazia.

I also was having reflexology which is not very me as I'm not normally into alternative therapies etc but I thought I'd try it. Who knows if it had any effect, but I reckon setting aside an hour a week to go and have me feet massaged to soothing music while the nice therapist asked me how I was doing probably contributed to me being more relaxed.

Re the peas, again, you can get into a state of mind where you like to think you're trying something. Trying something can make you feel hopeful and more positive.

Good luck OP!

You can't really "do" anything.

Taking a vitamin or standing on your head whilst chanting the alphabet backwards isn't going to make any difference.

You need to relax and it will happen when it happens. It's not really in your control and you will stress yourself out more if you are looking for some magic cure.

If you are having fertility investigations then just go to all your appointments for that, follow the advice and keep trying.

Meant to say it did take 3 years to fall pregnant with DD

latte101 · 13/09/2021 09:46

Didn't go to the loo after we DTD, just went to sleep with my bum on a pillow. I'd also said if it didn't work we were getting a dog.

Like you, my eldest wasn't even planned, I just came off the pill so see what happened. With my second, we started TTC when eldest was one. I fell pregnant twice but lost them, then moved house and fell with DD.

Also, the last two pregnancies I had my bloods done to check hormones and I fell pregnant straight after them.

Tinpotspectator · 13/09/2021 09:18

No idea if relevant but I had a standard course of antibiotics for something unrelated. Years ago now.

LittleMachine · 13/09/2021 09:10

A few things - we followed the sperm meets egg plan that cycle for the first time. I used the smiley face OPKs instead of the line ones and took vitamin B6.

IsabelHerna · 13/09/2021 09:05

Good luck! Can't you get an earlier referral? Seems that you have indeed tried everything so can't the gp help you out?

Kipkay35 · 10/09/2021 07:56

We went on holiday and had a wonderful relaxing time Smile we also used Clear blue OPKs for a few months which I found Really helpful

SherbertLemons · 09/09/2021 22:25

I've been really really luck, falling pregnant in my first month of TTC. Here is what I did (if it helps anyone):

  1. started taking prenatal seven months before TTC
  2. gave up smoking a year and a half ago
  3. had sex ever other day during fertile window (I wanted to do it almost every day to increase our chances but DPs research said to do it every other day to increase sperm quality)
  4. tracked ovulation using clear blue digital for the actual TTC month, but used cheapies to track it for three months prior to learn when I ovulated.
  5. used pre-seed (only 1ml as a little goes a long way)
  6. tracked BBT up until confirmed ovulation
  7. stuffed a pillow under my hips after intercourse Wink
  8. went away to visit family during TTW and relaxed / tried to put it out of my mind (kind of worked kind of didn't but made the time pass easier).

Not sure if that will help anyone but I hope so x

namechangeforthispost123 · 09/09/2021 22:02

Relaxed , stopped wanting it as much (as we got engaged) and I caught straight away!

hoola23 · 09/09/2021 21:55

Not much I don't think! I mean I used the clear blue fertility monitor but it didn't tell me anything enlightening really but I did DTD 2 days earlier than I had been. I did acupuncture but again, my first session was the day after I ovulated so doubt that played any roll. For me, I defo think my stress levels stopped me. I got my BFP a few days ago and for the last two months I've had a lot of time off work due to work stress and returned to a temp roll with hardly anything to do so that defo helped!
We took a year too, it will happen. Best of luck x

brightwhite · 09/09/2021 21:46

Thank you all so so much.

I have enjoyed reading every reply!

Lots I will take on board like sleep, stress, diet and it probably wouldn't hurt to lose a few lbs... I'm a size 12--14 but I was 8-10 when I had my first Hmm

Also I took a month off opk's when we had a trip away and my cycle changed by 11 days so the usual fertile window was WAY out so I've ended up back on them.
No idea why it changed as nothing changed apart from we weren't at home!

Stopped taking OPKs. X

Ilikecheeseontoast · 09/09/2021 21:25

Had sex on the Friday, spa day with friends and a few Prosecco on the Saturday and then ovulated on the Sunday. Wasn’t actually trying as pregnancy no1 had taken 5 years and 4 rounds of ivf so I didn’t think getting pregnant naturally was an option! Relaxing is easier said than done but I believe it really helped in my case x wishing you the best of luck!

Pebbles218 · 09/09/2021 21:23

Deleted fertility app, stopped opks and temp, had sex every other day, drank actimel! (Don't know if any of these helped.) I'd given up hope. Drank a lot and eaten gluten when it makes me unwell. Then bfp. It was a shitty and stressful time so I hope you're ok x

EmbarrassingMama · 09/09/2021 21:04

Caught Covid!

Had been TTC for 13 months and had been referred for IVF for tube defects. Got Covid, felt sick as a dog, can’t even really believe we had the energy for a shag, but there we are..!

(Obvs not recommending catching Covid!)

MyMabel · 09/09/2021 20:59

Both times ive fallen pregnant ive come down with a really horrible illness, I think it was actual flu; it messed up my cycles and make my period weird the month before I conceive. I swear the illness must just reset my body somehow 😂

sarahc336 · 09/09/2021 20:58

Reduce caffeine intake x

NatalieH2220 · 09/09/2021 20:56

The month I fell pregnant with DS2 was the only month I didn't track when I was ovulating properly. I read after a year of trying we could contact the drs and this was the final month before that so I was more relaxed. I had lost some weight gradually over the 2/3 months prior too so it could have been a combination of those.

Good luck!

louisvillelou · 09/09/2021 20:53

Relaxed and just had sex whenever we fancied it. After 6 months of miscarriage/chems or nothing, it was quite a relief!

Harlequin1088 · 09/09/2021 20:48

Got the flu!
