FRER False Positive?

Hi folks, I would love your opinion on my FRER pregnancy test I took this morning ... would you say these were 'indents' 'false positives'?

@ericaandfamily so sorry to hear you've ended up in EPU. I'm definitely going to have to chat with a doctor as this isn't the first time I think I've had a chemical pregnancy 😞
Everything crossed that you'll get your BFP 🤞🏼❤️

FRER have been driving me up the wall, I've had about 6 faint positives within 2/3 minutes of the test being done, all bought from different chemists. Then I took a clearblue - BFP! Or so I thought (started to appear before the control line so not an evap).

I ended up in EPU as I've got a history of recurrent miscarriage and have to go as soon as I get a positive. Took my clearblue test with me, yep definitely positive.

Did an internal scan, nothing other than a thick lining, confirmed they could see I'd ovulated as the corpus luteum was seen. They were concerned I was having a rare "ovarian ectopic" as there was a cyst in my ovary with another bubble shaped thing inside. Had bloods taken, apparently my HCG was less than 2 so not pregnant.

I'm now on CD36 of a normal for me 23 day cycle (endometriosis makes me have shorter cycles than the average). No sign of AF, no usual symptoms I get when I'm due on like being a bit moody, in fact I feel great except from my aching boobs which I've had only in pregnancy before.

No idea what is going on! Wishing you luck you get a BFP xx

I've had a mixture from Amazon and pharmacies but most recently Boots 👎🏼

BastardMonkfish · 10/09/2021 22:20

@Indianna2006 you get them in Boots although Boots own brand sensitive tests are pretty much identical.

Indianna2006 · 10/09/2021 20:19

@ChattyMum86 ah that’s crap. Sorry hun. Just keep going.
I’m now onto cycle 5. But trying to keep positive and keep fingers crossed.

Where does everyone purchase there frers from?

Only ask because I have had a few faint lines on frer before but just presumed it was an evap as my period came anyway like next day or so. But I order mine from Amazon and I saw someone mention about the Amazon ones seemed to do this. Like maybe because of how there stored in the warehouses etc?

Cos when I was ttc with my dd 4 years ago I always used frer and never ever got evaps. They were always very blank like a previous poster said. I’ve had two frer evaps so far in these 5 months.

Thinking I might try purchase them from elsewhere..but don’t think I’ve ever seen them in Tesco or Asda?

Moonshine160 · 10/09/2021 19:45

So sorry OP :( I agree that the line looked too strong to just be an indent

BastardMonkfish · 10/09/2021 19:15

@Clarkey86

If I’m being totally honest with you I don’t think they’re indents - I think you might have had a faint positive and maybe a chemical pregnancy.

I’ve done a LOT of FRERs and never had a false positive or indent so I’d be surprised at 2.

I’m sorry - crossing my fingers for you next time!

I've had indents but they haven't been as bright as the recent picture and I've been pregnant 5 times - I agree it could have been a chemical which is both sad and yet hopeful in a way
ChattyMum86 · 10/09/2021 15:55

@Clarkey86 thank you for responding, i think you could be right re the chemical as I am now way overdue my period x

@BastardMonkfish thank 😞 had a rotten day, so disappointed. Worst of it is, cycle day 37 and still no sign of AF so don't even feel like I can focus on the next cycle. So frustrating.

@Indianna2006 thanks for responding 🙏🏼 actively ttc for around 6 months now. My issue is that I need to test early as I have a blood clotting condition, so as soon as there's HCG in my blood I have to start injections to keep my blood thin and keep me safe from strokes, pulmonary embolism etc. 👎🏼

Hoping for AF soon so I can move on xx

@ChattyMum86

BFN this morning, unreal. How bad are those indents?! 😢
Aw mate Thanks
Indianna2006 · 10/09/2021 15:02

Sorry @ChattyMum86 I’ve had some indents on frers too a few cycles.

There super pale and almost don’t have any colour. I know everyone rates frers but some do give out s dodgy evap indent. I keep seeing it on loads of threads.

I don’t think there is any one test which doesn’t sometimes give out evaps.

Which is why testing early just causes upset second guessing. Or people think they’ve had chemicals when it is just an evap.

It’s annoying!!!
How long have you been ttc?

@BastardMonkfish it was very pink at the time but now it's dried - not so much 🤞🏼 if it's another indent I seriously don't think I can trust this brand 🤷🏼‍♀️ tomorrow's test will tell x

OP posts:
BastardMonkfish · 09/09/2021 21:32

The first test was an indent but today's one is definitely positive, I take it the line is much more visible off camera, my + frers were always very obvious in real life but not as visible in photos

ChattyMum86 · 09/09/2021 21:29

Aw I do hope so @Moonshine160 🤞🏼 this was with afternoon urine. Will try with FMU tomorrow morning. Thanks again for responding, I really appreciate it ❤️

OP posts:
Moonshine160 · 09/09/2021 21:26

That looks like an early positive rather than an evap to me.

ChattyMum86 · 09/09/2021 21:08

Surely not another indent? Thinking I might be around 13 dpo, late for my period too and feel wet down below constantly - sorry (tmi 😳)

@BEH2016 I've had some bad experiences with those tests. Have you tried a FRER (pink dye test)? They say they are more reliable, although given my experience above I'm now more confused than ever. Sending you baby dust ✨ xx

Hiya, I was two weeks late for my period I come on Tuesday for three days, yesterday I had a positive (come up within five mins) today I’ve had a negative? We are currently under going fertility investigations, please could someone help with the positive test? X

ChattyMum86 · 03/09/2021 08:03

@Moonshine160 I think I was more diluted this morning if I was being honest.

@Sparrow91 I will definitely try that - thank you so much for the glimmer of hope ❤️

OP posts:
Sparrow91 · 03/09/2021 07:03

I still see a line in the second photo, fingers crossed for you it’s just the flash.

I would also try doing a test later in the day - when I was very early I got weaker lines in the morning and stronger positives from 5pm!

Moonshine160 · 03/09/2021 06:55

Sorry OP Sad could your wee have been more diluted this morning?

ChattyMum86 · 03/09/2021 06:09

@Starryskiesinthesky I had the flash on for the second photo, it could be that. Be definitely no obvious line like yesterday 😞 really hopes to see a darker line this morning 👎🏼 xx

Oh dear. Today’s test stripe is much paler too - not sure what that means but could that explain it?
