@sabtom I wouldn't worry about having a posterior placenta, mine was for DD and it moved right up as DD grew. I think it's quite common for them to move up..... But it does mean you feel EVERY little movement / kick / punch / roll 😉

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 15:45

@Littlemiss41andfabulous it’s so difficult to know based on symptoms. I was really ill with my son too so I wonder if it’s more down to how the hormones affect you. Great you’ve not felt sick.

I felt really similar to you with my first one. I was convinced it was a girl and could imagine it. I was even sad for a bit when I found out it was a boy. It just felt strange as I couldn’t imagine myself as a boy mum. Being a girl I imagined a girl. Honestly though it’s been amazing. I love him so much and wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’ll be great whatever you have. Xx

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 08/09/2021 14:30

Thanks @Catconfusion ,@sabtom, @Marvellouslymadmum and @Marvellouslymadmum!

@sabtom my mother in law is convinced it's a boy as she had a dream it was, and a friend thinks boy because I haven't had much morning sickness (sorry @Catconfusion**!) but I have no clue either way.

Thanks for your encouragement about how fab boys are @Catconfusion. I really don't mind wait her way what we have but find it easier to imagine having a daughter, probably because I am one! I think either way knowing the sex will help me process and get ready for meeting either our son or daughter a little better. I'm itching to know now.

My movements began as faint flutters/elastic band flicks in Week 18 and already by week 20 are stronger and more often and definitely entering the gymnastics category.

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 10:08

@sabtom so you might get some very big movements. I was anterior last time so it took a while for the movements to get established. They were there but not too vigorous until the end. It didn’t make me anxious though as there was a pattern. Xx

sabtom · 08/09/2021 09:52

It's posterior, but the midwife said it can move.

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 09:43

@sabtom I remember that feeling so well with ds just before my 20 week scan. It felt a bit like being limbo. The movements make everything better once they start. It might not be too long for you. Is your placenta anterior or posterior. It probably won’t be too long. Xx

sabtom · 08/09/2021 09:13

@Catconfusion yeah, I think when I start feeling regular movements I'll probably relax a lot more a start enjoying the pregnancy. I have my 20 week anomaly scan on the 12th October but I'll actually be 21 weeks 4 days. Hopefully the movements start happening before then or I might need another private scan for reassurance 😅

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 05:22

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you, I remember feeling like that. It is nice to know ladies our age can be successfully pregnant. My midwife was saying they have record numbers of women over 40 on their books at the moment. She even asked if I’m planning another after this. I reminded her I’ll be nearly 43 when the baby is born. She said there’s still plenty of time, even though it would mean a third c section. I can’t see it happening to be honest but it was nice to hear the midwife thought it could. Xx

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 05:16

@sabtom I completely identify with the scanxiety. It wasn’t until I felt proper movements I felt a bit more chilled. Even then there’s that worry something unexpected will come up. Will you have the growth scans? Roll on that 20 week scan for you. Xx

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 05:12

@Pamparam I’m so sorry it happened before. It’s such horrible luck. It also ruins pregnancy for the future because it’s difficult to just trust the process. I hope when it happens for you there’s lots of support through that early stage. I’ve been having fortnightly scans at my EPAU which has really helped with the anxiety.

I do hope you get some good news soon. Xx

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 05:06

Aww @sabtom congratulations on your baby boy. Boys are so much fun. My ds makes me smile and laugh everyday. I would be happy with another boy. I thought I’d want a girl but I’ve loved being a boy mum and another one would be an absolute blessing.

I was 20 weeks when I felt movement with ds and I think that’s normal for a first. I might be going crazy but I felt some twitching as the baby moved during my scan. I know it’s early and baby is small but it felt like those first flutters. A friend of mine had similar at this stage.

I hope you feel something soon. It could be anytime now. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 08/09/2021 00:17

Hi @Pamparam I remember you from the other thread, I am sorry to hear if you're loss

@Catconfusion no please do keep posting! I have days where I just feel what's the point it's just never going to happen then I come on here and hear all the good news and I know there's still a possibility! So glad your scan went well xx

@Littlemiss41andfabulous that's amazing news! So pleased for you - it's gone so fast!

@sabtom as well! So happy for you all, congratulations on your scan and finding out your having a little boy 💙

Pamparam · 07/09/2021 22:41

Exciting for your scan @Littlemiss41andfabulous. Keep us updated. And @sabtom too. I felt movement at 19.5 with my first.

Pamparam · 07/09/2021 22:38

@Catconfusion thanks for the well wishes, my first one did too, I thought/hoped my bad luck would be a one off, especially as I had an early scan at 8 weeks this time and all was well (first time round it was sized just 5/6 weeks). Ho hum, at least trying is fun… for now!

So glad to hear all is measuring well with you, good luck for dating scan!

sabtom · 07/09/2021 21:29

Aww so happy for you @Catconfusion, I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes great for you! Keep us updated. I had a 16 week scan a couple of days ago and still found I was nervous and holding my breath until the sonographer says "there's baby and the heartbeat" and it'll probably be like with every scan till he's born 😅 (yep, he. It's a boy! 💙) Good luck with your scan too @Littlemiss41andfabulous! Do you have any predictions with the gender? I can't wait til I start feeling the flutters and kicks, I think it's still a little early yet.

Welcome to all the new posters! Thanks

Catconfusion · 07/09/2021 21:15

Thank you @Littlemiss41andfabulous Good luck for your anomaly scan. How lovely to find out the sex. It really helped me to bond with my ds once we knew. You’re nearly halfway there! Xx

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 07/09/2021 19:03

@Catconfusion wonderful news! I hope the nausea settles down soon for you too.

@Marvellouslymadmum I'm glad the positive stories on here are giving you hope. I too try and be sensitive with what I share currently as I want my posts to encourage rather than upset others.

I will be 20 weeks on Thursday and have the anomaly scan on Friday and I think we're going to find out if we're having a boy or a girl!

I have a very obvious bump now and baby began to move last week so am enjoying getting used to the flutters and bubble sensations.

Hi to everyone currently waiting for their bfps and those who have them. I hope you're doing ok and enjoying the sunny weather today xxx

Catconfusion · 07/09/2021 16:58

I just had another scan and all is going well. Baby is 4cm long and measuring 10 plus 5. My dating scan is next Tuesday. Eek!! 🙂❤️ Xx

Catconfusion · 07/09/2021 16:57

@Marvellouslymadmum I’m so glad it gives you hope. I do sometimes wonder how much to post on this thread. Would hate to make anyone feel bad. I know how horrible it is to try and lose at this age. So we really are very grateful and feel lucky to be in this position. Xx

Catconfusion · 07/09/2021 16:55

@Pamparam welcome to the thread. I’m so sorry to hear about your mmc. My first ever pregnancy ended at a similar stage. It’s so heartbreaking. Wishing you the best of luck for this cycle. Xx

Pamparam · 06/09/2021 16:36

Hey everyone - can I join? 👋

I was in the 35+ thread but I got pregnant, had a MMC (my second) and in the meantime I turned 40! It’s been 2 cycles since said MMC at 12 weeks. I’d seen heartbeat earlier at a private scan so was a little hard but I do already have a 2.5 year old so it wasn’t as rough as it could have been - emotionally!

Didn’t get pregnant last cycle. Should’ve hopefully ovulated a couple of days ago so here’s that interminable wait again. Fingers crossed and lovely to see success on this thread!

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/09/2021 12:08

It's so nice to see so many of you with your bfp it does give me some hope when I'm feeling rubbish about it all!

Catconfusion · 06/09/2021 06:53

@ponymum1980 I’m so pleased it’s going well. I think for a lot of people the first trimester is a right off. The sickness and food aversions make it complicated. I’ve found the only way through it is to go with it and not expect too much. I hope you get some better days soon. Xx

Catconfusion · 06/09/2021 06:50

@Lastyearttc I’m so pleased everything is going well. Good luck for your next scan. I’m really impressed with your EPAU. They sound really on the ball. I wasn’t offered a progesterone test. My 8 week plus 4 scan was fine though and I have another one tomorrow at 10 plus 4 eek. Xx

Catconfusion · 06/09/2021 06:48

I asked whether progesterone could mask miscarriage and was told it could but if having regular early scans it wouldn’t be for long. Also my first pregnancy was a mmc and I found out 4 weeks after the baby stopped. I’d had no signs anything was wrong, in fact I was vomiting daily. I wasn’t on progesterone then. I guess my point is mcs don’t always show symptoms anyway so it’s worth trying xx
