@Gemandi2 congrats! Hope the cramping dies down.

@oldermam sorry to hear about your loss at work, am sure that is a very tough job, esp when you have your own stuff going on. Glad to hear you are getting some TLC at home. Take good care of you x

Mattieandmummy · 29/11/2021 20:43

@Germandi2 congratulations, have everything crossed for you x

Mattieandmummy · 29/11/2021 20:42

@oldermam I'm sorry you had a loss on shift but can I just say thank you for what you do on behalf of all the NICU babies and their parents. My daughter was in NICU, the team there not only saved her life but gave us the little girl we have today.

DOB78 · 29/11/2021 20:31

@oldermam what a sweetie!!!

Honey2 · 29/11/2021 20:13

@Gemandi2 brilliant!!!! ⭐️

oldermam · 29/11/2021 18:22

Thank you DOB78. He just brought me my fave choc and popcorn. He's a gooden x

DOB78 · 29/11/2021 18:11

@oldermam so sorry you're having a hard time right now. It's really hard but I Tey to think of periods as a good sign that at least my body is doing what it should be even when I wish she wouldn't. Enjoy all the cuddles x

oldermam · 29/11/2021 15:45

I'm miserable today, period started again, the second since coils came out ten days ago, this one is heavier so I'm assuming this is a good thing but I feel so rotten with it. Coupled with an awful death in work as my shift finished yesterday (nicu nurse) I'm very tearful today.

I think a hot bubble bath, and cuddles on the sofa are in the cards tonight x

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 14:58

@Gemandi2 huge congratulations to you. Xx

oldermam · 29/11/2021 13:36

@Gemandi2

Evening all so this month I was quite certain me and DH were going to DTD pretty much every day that I was possibly ovulating. We did sometimes when I least felt like it. But in all honesty I expected AF to arrive right on Q as always. I had a few cramps and twinges earlier in week but also had tingly boobs and a bit of tenderness. AF was due but last night I said to DH I'll just do a test in morning to put myself out of misery, low and behold this morning I had BFP massive blue line no doubting the result. I'm in a bit of shock tbh still had a few cramps thru day but that's not uncommon for me and early pregnancy. Scared witless after the MC this summer but am hoping this one sticks 🤞what a day it's been x
Congratulations 🎉 keeping everything crossed for you xx

Thank you SO SO Much everyone!! Your replies gave really helped ease my mind a bit! got in such a funk with it last night that I didn’t sleep a wink and have been a total mess today!
OH has had serious words to bring me back down to Earth a bit too 🙈🙈
I’ve had all clear in every other test so I’m no at a loss for what to do right now but I guess I’ll go ahead with the referral to get the ball rolling and just BD plenty in the meantime 🤪

DOB78 · 26/11/2021 18:39

@Marvellouslymadmum that's what makes me think why do we need to know. I've managed to get pregnant 4 times 2 have been fine 2 I think are down to low progesterone which we can get help with. Maybe ignorant bliss is the best option 🤔

Marvellouslymadmum · 26/11/2021 18:13

@Kelb79 hi and welcome, I agree that it can all change month to month unfortunately I haven't had a proper afc as my ovaries like to play hide and seek so makes it difficult to see any at all 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would maybe get an opinion from another clinic and see what they say, have you been diagnosed with pcos or anything?

@DOB78 it's very frustrating. There's never no chance unless you have an amh of 0

DOB78 · 26/11/2021 17:18

@Kelb79 I'm really sorry you've received such conflicting results that have left you feeling this way.
I'm awaiting fertility tests which could take months apparently. I'm not even sure I want to know or we just carry on trying as we are and hope for the best. I don't know if I could cope with being told we've no chance and there's no way we could afford to pay for IVF either.

DOB78 · 26/11/2021 17:14

@Marvellouslymadmum oh dear that sounds very frustrating 😕

99pctpractice · 26/11/2021 17:03

@Kelb79

Hey lovelies….

Has anyone got any experience/knowledge of discordance of AMH and AFC???

I’ve been having fertility tests which have all come back good, had AMH tested and was well above average for 42!

Then BFP in August, MC in September, baseline scan following first AF last week and they’ve now recommended I start the application for IVF (self funded as I live in Cornwall 😡) as they’ve only been able to count 6 follicles.
So they told me I had a good ovarian reserve, now they’re telling me it’s low 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m so confused!! And it’s hit me REALLY hard 😞
To be told I’m essentially infertile after my one only ever pregnancy ending in MC, it’s floored me!!
How can the two tests show such different results???
I get the point of starting the application process…. I know it can take up to 6 months and we can keep trying naturally in the meantime, but I’m just so confused and upset by it all 😢

Hi @Kelb79 I also have discordance between AMH (2.7) and anterior follicle count, but mine is the other way around. They just told me that it meant that it was unpredictable how many eggs they might be able to retrieve through ivf and that it would possibly be between 2-3 eggs. My first round, they retrieved 4 eggs, even though I had about 9 follicles. The second round they changed the trigger and managed to retrieve 11 eggs from 12 follicles.

So I guess my experience was that the AMH was aligned with the first round and my antral follicle count was aligned with the second round. But the consultant said that these things can just be natural variations from cycle to cycle and can be a bit hard to predict so it's hard to tell whether the changes in my medication between rounds made any difference or if it was just how my body reacted that particular month!

It doesn't sound like the clinic has handled things well at all for you - it's stressful enough without them being unclear about things and making you worried. 6 follicles is not a bad number at all and you can definitely still successfully have ivf with those kinds of numbers!! If you're self funded anyway, is there any way of accelerating the process to ivf? 6 months sounds like a long time!

Marvellouslymadmum · 26/11/2021 15:31

@DOB78 it's very frustrating, it's supposed to work straight away, you take it days 2-6 of your cycle and it brings on a strong ovulation for day 12-14 or it does for those it works on 😂

DOB78 · 26/11/2021 12:01

@Swirlywoo oops got your name wrong sorry🙈

DOB78 · 26/11/2021 12:01

@Marvellouslymadmum that sounds a bit rubbish that you don't feel you're being listened to. It's not a medication I've heard of does it take a little while to work or should it work straight away? I hope you O soon and make that baby x

@Swirlysoo I'm 44 and trying for #3 too. My 2 Daughters are nearly 22 and 18 but new partner has no children and we'd love one together ❤. I'm thinking December is gonna be our month x
