Success stories with progesterone pessaries after multiple chemicals please??

Hi @WillowRose1411 Thank you for replying again. My urine pregnancy tests turned negative in the end so I knew it wasn't progressing. I stopped the progesterone 2 days ago and I'm just waiting for my period to start now. Im hoping it's not too delayed. I'm considering getting some private tests done as I've been told I won't be referred on the nhs for further investigations until I've had 2 more losses as they will only count the MMC i had back in July at 11 weeks. They said chemicals aren't included. Im finding it so frustrating because in my eyes I've had 3 consecutive losses 😞

I had a faint positive pregnancy test yesterday at 11dpo so I rung the hospital to see about starting my other medication (ie the aspirin and clexanne injections). They decided to do a HCG blood test and the result came back at 7 😭 any thing over 5 is a pregnant result but 7 is very low so I think it's another chemical pregnancy for me - this will my 3rd miscarriage in a row now. I'm so fed up!

Im still on the progesterone suppositories and worried by staying on them I'm just preventing the inevitable. What did you do in the end? Im waiting for the nurse to call me with advice on what to do but I just know it's not good news 😞

@WillowRose1411 I'm so so sorry to hear this. It's such a horrible shock when something is found on a scan. I know how hard it is but try not to give up hope. I hope you can get some support from the hospital or your consultant. Look after yourself and take your time to recover xx

@Moominmiss thanks so much for the advice. I didn't know it could help with implantation. I think I'll see how I go with the plan to start from a positive pregnancy test but if no luck I'll ask my consultant if it's ok for me to take after ovulation Xx

@WillowRose1411 that's such amazing news! Huge Congratulations! That's so great it worked first month for you!!
I really hope they help me again 🤞🏻 I'm so scared but I've done everything I can this month. I've also taken Clomid (I ovulate every month but one month it can be day 13 the next it's day 23 so consultant gave me clomid to help regulate). I'm now 1dpo and I've started up the progesterone pessaries so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 x

@CH2205 I’d read a fair bit about how aspirin can help in aiding implantation by stopping the blood clotting or becoming too thick to allow implantation so thought it was worth a try as I felt I had nothing to lose.
Obviously my pregnancies had been implanting otherwise I wouldn’t have ever got positives, but I wanted to try and give everything the best possible chance. I’ll never know if taking it from my positive would have had the same effect, but just the fact I had such a good positive test at 8dpo, just makes me think taking it from ovulation helped.

@Moominmiss my consultant has also told me to take aspirin but he said to start once I get a positive pregnancy test. I know you said in your post you started at 1dpo - was there a reason for that? What made you start it then? X

@WillowRose1411 how did you get on with the progesterone pessaries? I've just ovulated and have started mine. I'm really hoping they help again! 🤞🏻

@WillowRose1411 no I didn’t have aps, but decided to self medicate after reading so many positive stories about aspirin seeming to help so many women.

It’s the best thing I’ve done, and tbh after 4 losses I felt I had nothing left to lose. If it worked then great, and if it didn’t then what had I lost!

I had 4 miscarriages in a row. Blood tests and scans all showed everything was normal including my progesterone levels.

However I started myself on 150mg aspirin a day from 1dpo and had a bfp. The EPU scanned me and saw a heartbeat at 5+4 which is something we’d never got as far as in any of the losses.

They decided to start me on progesterone to take until 16 weeks.

I took this along with the aspirin and am now 36 weeks pregnant!

My midwife and consultant both agreed that had I not already started myself on the aspirin they would have started me on it.

I fully credit the aspirin rather than the progesterone pessaries as all tests had indicated my progesterone levels were high enough to easily sustain a pregnancy.

I continued to take the aspirin up until today when I turned 36 weeks (as recommended by my consultant).

@ladycarlotta I'm so so sorry you're going through it again. I hope you are ok. It must be so hard. I've also carried a pregnancy to full term too previously (medication free) (I have a 6 year old) and so I have absolutely no idea why trying for number 2 has been such a struggle for us. I am 36 but it's not that old! Im convinced it's my progesterone due to my short luteal phase and also the fact that as soon as I started the pessaries I conceived straight away.

@WillowRose1411 I had the 6 week scan in hospital as I was getting one sided pain so was checked for ectopic pregnancy. I then had a private scan at 7.5 weeks as that's what I did when I had my little boy and I just wanted that reassurance. Once I found out it was a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks I opted for surgery. I only had that in July and have only just got back to 'normal'. I'm going to wait till I've had my 2nd covid vaccine before we try again xx

@CH2205 so sorry for your loss. It must be a huge kick in the teeth to get past that first hurdle and then miscarry.

@WillowRose1411 when I spoke to the consultant she was really clear that the pessaries will only help IF your problem is low progesterone - she said that if the embryo was not viable then progesterone wouldn't help it, so I don't believe that it would artificially extend a non-viable pregnancy. I do worry about that too tbh but miscarriage is based on way more factors than just progesterone.

That's why the pessaries only really help a small proportion of women, and why women with a history of early loss are good candidates for it bc that indicates that low progesterone could be the reason their pregnancies don't stick in the first place, whereas miscarriage later in the first trimester is more likely to be to do with the development of the foetus.

I'm definitely miscarrying now. Gutted but... we go again. I'm willing to give it another go with the pessaries.

@WillowRose1411 Thankyou. Im really sorry for your losses too. I would definitely give the progesterone a go. I 100% think it's what worked for me. I think I was just really unlucky because I had a scan at 6 and 7.5 weeks and saw a heart beat, baby was correct size for dates, bloods were good so it was such a shock to find at 11 weeks something had gone wrong. I'm definitely planning to take progesterone again next time though x
