Hi there.. I'm 18 and have been with my boyfriend for a few months... We had unprotected sex (please don't say anything unkind because it won't help me) on day 19 of my usual 30 day cycle (I use an app to track this)... I'm due on my period in 10 days and am wondering if any of you have any advice as to whether I could be pregnant and if anyone has anything that could prevent pregnancy that isn't the morning after... Please 🙏

@ineedaholidaynow Cheer up and suck it up buttercup...

@Eclairesarethebest thank you so much! Exactly, not everyone is statistic! My mum had me at 19 and my dad was 25 - still together to this day x

@eclipsechips thank you Grin x

@ineedaholidaynow how dare you. Her baby IS a blessing. She has stated many times she is happy to be pregnant. Why are you so determined to piss on her parade?! The things you've mentioned could happen to anyone, regardless of age. Her baby is worth no less than yours.

Eclairesarethebest · 22/08/2021 15:04

@Peanutsandchilli I had my first DC at 18, guess what? Still with their dad 15 years later! Not everyone is a statistic.

Congratulations op, it will be a major life shock to you. It's not easy living with a 21 year old man especially when the baby comes but hopefully he'll be supportive and you'll have a happy story to tell. :)

eclipsechips · 22/08/2021 15:03

There are far worse things in life to happen than a baby - Congratulations @tonijane17

ineedaholidaynow · 22/08/2021 15:00

A baby isn't always a blessing. They aren't a doll. They are a huge responsibility. A tenancy is also a huge responsibility. What happens if the OP enters into a tenancy with someone she has known 2 months who suddenly finds being a dad and a partner a bit too much responsibility. So OP, then may end up tied in a tenancy and trying to look after a baby on her own.

@Peanutsandchilli what a nasty thing to take time out of your weekend to say.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:53

@Gabby82 Exactly what I was thinking... It was simply just an update, but it seems people think me/my family/my partner are wrong to happy, when every baby is a blessing... I know it isn't going to all sunshine and rainbows but what's for you won't go by you!xx

Congratulations, I'm glad you are happy.

@tonijane17

Well I'm passing comment back "hun", and you seem a little too concerned Xx *@SpaceBethSmith*
There's so many people poised and waiting to pass judgement on these forums it's quite funny!

Congratulations on the pregnancy, you seem happy about the news. Of course there may be difficult times ahead but when isn't there!

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:51

Thank you @GrumpyTerrier ! I really appreciate that x

Congrats! For those trying to give 'realistic' advice, its not helpful now. Whatever life has in store, OP will find out and deal with as it comes. Right now she is feeling positive and happy about keeping the baby so just let her have that.

Too involved? It was a passing comment, hun. Lawd.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:28

And some of you just seem really too involved with my personal circumstances, so can we leave it at that. I'm happy, the father of my baby is happy and so are our families so any opinions you may have on our circumstances are irrelevant.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:25

None of these comments help me at all, I was merely giving an update to the people who responded when this thread was started.

How does being pregnant make someone vulnerable? Hmm

Batsaboutcats · 22/08/2021 14:21

@SpaceBethSmith your parents must be so delighted with you too, talking like that to someone who is pregnant, and therefore quite vulnerable

Urghhhhh · 22/08/2021 14:01

@ineedaholidaynow

Do you not like contraception? Or have you always wanted a baby young?
I really want to know this too.
ineedaholidaynow · 22/08/2021 13:58

I was thinking that @SpaceBethSmith I can't imagine being delighted whether it was my daughter or son in this position. I would be supportive but not delighted

SpaceBethSmith · 22/08/2021 13:56

Yes I’m sure your parents are fucking de-lighted that you’re pregnant by someone you’ve known all of 8 weeks maximum Hmm

CorrBlimeyGG · 22/08/2021 13:54

You're confusing realism with pessimism. The reality is that you're likely to become a single mum. There's nothing wrong with that, but you need to look at how you'll cope emotionally and financially.

Please don't commit to a tenancy with someone you've only known two months. That would be irresponsible whatever your age or circumstances.
