hello everyone is it just me or is this thread going all Christmassy?

just back from some shopping and walk in the park with dd. FREEZING!

we are off to inlaws on Sunday, I have my family over on Saturday but I think M&S will do most of the catering, I will be doing a chestnut cheesecake but I think that is as far as I go in the domestic goddess stakes plenty of booze everyone happy

Am a bit apprehensive about inlawas post MC because inevitably FIL will try to advise and take medical history he means well and he cares and no doubt he will will have read more on the subject (not his speciality) hope dd distracts him

take care all

splishsplosh · 20/12/2007 14:48

Lcy, good news about the scan. Can't believe they're so grudging about scanning you. Can they not even attempt to imagine how they would feel in your position? Maybe we pig pant wearers need to start a major campaign!
I'd offer to climb up buildings in my MC uniform like the fathers for Justice lot, but I don't like heights, so may have to think of something else

Welcome to the newcomers, sorry for the experiences that have brought you here, but hope that you get the support you need from the lovely mc avengers.

Tjuice, do you mean the Mothercare on Purley Way? It's huge...and full of lovely tempting clothes for your little one. It's difficult though, I remember when I was pg with dd, I didn't want to look at too much till quite late - almost too late as it turned out, as she was a month early!

Jules - glad miniJJ still hanging on, must be a fighter.

Can't remember what else I was going to say - so much to catch up on.
We have a Christmas tree, but no food at all, though I have no lentils for my delicious lentil roast. No meat for dp though. Most of the presents are done. I've even bought some for me cos dp is rubbish and most he'll do is say spend some money on yourself.

merrylissiemas · 20/12/2007 14:44

hello ladies! well recieved the confirmation letter from LWH so thats it, we shall be seeing them on the 10th. im so excited about it!

DUSTIN · 20/12/2007 14:41

I am totally not ready for Christmas. My DH has given me a huge list of items he wants for Christmas and I can't find any of them in the shops!

Lcy never feel like you are wasting the EPU's time, you and your little bean are the important ones.

Tjuice Have a good flight.

Aqua Will you have to have treatment for the fibroid- sorry don't no much about them.

aquababe · 20/12/2007 13:19

lcy thats good news at epu of all the people who should understand grrr

jules really glad to hear that your strong minijules is still hanging in there.

sorry to those who've had to join

spoke to doc about fibroid he's warned me off trying to concieve till march. something about higher chance of abnormalities. hmm didn't say that last time. still atleast it was said with sympathy and not patronising. emotionally I think I'll have to give myself a break too this second mc has knocked me for six. doesn't help that hubby keeps saying really stupid things 'like why haven't you taken dd swimming'

Anyone got any veg?

Lcy · 20/12/2007 13:09

We should get together

wheelybahhumbug · 20/12/2007 13:07

Oh wow Lcy ! We don't ahve a turkey yet but we do have 12 chipolatas wrapped in bacon and a christmas pudding !

Lcy · 20/12/2007 13:06

i have all DHs family and my family coming for a week but have no food in yet apart from a turkey

wheelybahhumbug · 20/12/2007 13:00

I keep posting before I've finished !

Tjuice - hope you have a great time over here and enjoy your fish and chips !!

I am not yet feeling panicky about christmas and not sure why as I should be ! Have 6 here over christmas then they go and my family come for a couple of nights (inc. a meal for 11..)... Yikes !

wheelybahhumbug · 20/12/2007 12:59

Great news Lcy. Hang on in there !

Gilly - glad you are now being referred (). I am encouraging DH to have time off after new year so if he does, fingers crossed he'll do his bit too ! How do you/DH feel about the result ? Fingers crossed that means less prodding and poking for you !

TJuice · 20/12/2007 12:49

lcy - fantastic news! i was also cautiously optimistic because i had a heartbeat before too, but really its fab news and chances of anything happening again are small after hb. well done to you dh for his phD. i have a guilty conscious about my masters thesis which i still haven't finished. i hope to do it early next year. its on a really interesting subject too (i think) on sustainable fashion . . .

hey georgie - thanks for the greetings. this thread was also a lifeline for me too this year.

gilly - that is brilliant. when you know what's up, it becomes easy to solve. 2008 will be the year then . . .

wannabamummy becaroodolf - so sorry you are here but hope you find it helpful. i really used this thread as a place to rant, mainly because my dp got over the mc quite quickly (or seemed to) and none of my friends have ever had one so i just felt amongst like-minded people here, who understood what a rollercoaster of emotion it is after an mc.

sfx mum - i had a good scan on tuesday. had a low risk of downs etc and she spend ages poking and prodding trying to get lo to move so we had a lot of "screen time". but now i have nothing until week 20, so the training wheels are off and its a little scary . . . luckily my gynae said i could come back anytime but i don't want to abuse that, so i may look into getting a doppler.

i am flying back today!
in a couple of hours!

so excited. i mean, i come back and forth all the time but haven't since september and a lot has happened since then. i am looking forward to chilling at my parents comfy house, walking their lovely dalmation and eating all the english food that i miss, starting with fish and chips. then i will get my highlights done by my favourite colorist and have a cheap pedicure (they cost bucks here) so its all about pampering and indulging myself. finally, i will have a little wander around the huge mothercare superstore near my folks and get scared and excited at the same time.

yay!

Lcy · 20/12/2007 12:18

Hi

Jules - no reason for the spotting - it is all a bit worrying because this is exactly what happened last time.

SFXmum- this is not the time for running enjoys some lovely christmas food and drink and get moving in the new year

HeyThereGeorgieGirl - i hope you are well. Second you on the sticky beans and tons more baby dust x

gillystarrynight - congrats on getting your Masters in - especially after the trauma of a mc. I had to complete my masters when my dad was very ill and i know it is very hard! Will treat DH to big drink tonight x

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 20/12/2007 12:12

Hi everyone. Haven't a chance in hell of catching up with everything that's been going on so just wanted to say.....

How much this thread has meant to me over the last month. You are all amazing women. Regardless of what's happened to us in 2007 we can gladly shove it out the way and look forward to seeing what 2008 brings .

Hope everyone has a fantastic christmas and a very propserous new year. Let's hope that all the mini-bubs stay where they are and that there's shedloads of baby dust wafting around for those of us that need some good luck! xxxxxx

gillystarrynight · 20/12/2007 11:44

Wannabamummy welcome to the thread!

Lcy seeing a heart beat must be so amazing!! Congratulations, but sorry you were treated like that. There is no need. Well done to DH for handing it his PhD!!! On a smaller scale I handed my masters dissertation in Dec 06(6 wks after my mc) and the feeling of euphoria is amazing. Treat him to a glass of vino in front of the telly.

Jules, minijules is hanging on and everything is fine with her (I am convinced it?s a she) Sick is good, how is the consumption of B&Js going? When?s your next scan?

Hi Wheely and Dustn and Ronshar All set for Christmas?

DH has just called with his results from the doc (she called him at home). The good news is that there is lots of it - he said 9 million but then didn't know if it was 9ml but motility is at 30% when the normal average should be 50%. He didn't get any other figures despite me asking him to! Anyway she said that she is referring us today and we should have an appointment within 8-9 weeks at UCH. Why am I ridiculously excited?

sfxmum · 20/12/2007 11:42

sorry about the bleeding / spotting, so stressful and boo for EPU

I have friends who bled throughout their pregnancies I am not sure how I would cope, despite the MCs the successful pregnancy was remarkably trouble free.

I think as the end of year and my birthday in early February approaches I am feeling more upset, all this 'Oh dear I am getting really old and running out of time' business is getting to me. I hope it is temporary.

still I have not been out running, have done zero exercise and am getting bigger
best eat cakes and drink then sort it out in the new year

wannaba - i only ever had one ERPC and took 2 weeks off work i was 12wks then so thought it better to do it that way. still not easy.

Hi Jules - i really wish my spotting would stop it is so stressful isnt it! How long until you are 12 weeks?

Ronshar - they have actually told me to go back to my GP if i bleed again even though they are a walk in EPU! I feel like such a time waster. I hope you are well!

Lcy · 20/12/2007 11:28

Wannabamummy - You said earlier that you dont really feel like you have dealt with your mc. I think that is a feeling that alot of us have had - when you feel low or feel tearful for no reason. My mc has def had long term impact for me and i am still really sad about it even though i am pregnant again. Please feel free to write if you feel low - as you can probably see we have all done it at some point on this thread xx

ronshar · 20/12/2007 11:28

Morning Jules it is good you are still sick, means lots of hormones. Not so good about the bleeding. Hopefully it will go soon and you can relax.

ronshar · 20/12/2007 11:27

Excellent for your little bean LCY. Do not let them treat you like a child. It may all be boring for them but they can not refuse to treat you. Because that is what it is, a refusal of treatment. Can you imagine if it was something else and they refused to scan/treat you. What bollocks.
Sorry also ranting.

Hope you are well Wannabamummy - are you looking forward to Christmas?

Lcy · 20/12/2007 11:22

Oh dustin they are crap. The nurse was so condescending and treated me like i was stupid. she gave me a really patronising lecture about not being able to scan me every week and tried to make me wait until next thursday. I said i understand that but i am bleeding and it is your hospital protocol to scan me and if you wont i will need to speak to the Consultant - so that is the only reason they scanned me.

DH is so confused by it all - he said its like they think our idea of fun is to have internal investigations and scans!

Rant over - how are you getting on?

Wannabamummy · 20/12/2007 11:21
