In the shimmering summer heat, we need to head for the water to cool down and relax. Bring your inflatable flamingo, your romcom read and your sunscreen, cause it's time for a pool party!

Welcome to the 12th post pill party thread. We are here for women who have recently come off the pill... and women like me who not-so-recently came off the pill! Share and get support with the highs and lows of TTC.

I can see these people rockin' up with their cossies on:

@Juno231 ahh brilliant, thank you!

@soph192 Welcome 🙃

Tillybabs · 18/07/2021 20:32

@Carolinesturn I got nausea in the LP phase although it tends to start when AF is on the way

Juno231 · 18/07/2021 18:58

@CharWils def opks as you can have ewcm for a fair amount of days 5+. It's the equivalent of a flashing smiley on a CB opk (both caused by oestrogen) and the cheap opks pick up on what would be the static smiley!

@soph192 hi and welcome!

@ChinChilly it's under chart duo. You just set up your own measurement essentially and can then populate it every day under your custom data section.

Thank you @Kay00 and @Carolinesturn, yes I think I will see how this cycle pans out over the next few weeks and make sure I’m eating well etc and then approach the doctor. I know I can do it, as this was my cycle in March when I was eating well - long but a good ovulation. So I can do it! But yeah I won’t rule out metformin, I just worry the doctors will say it won’t work as I’m a healthy weight already?

@SkeletonSkins
I'm so sorry you are finding it tough and I can see why the thread can be a double edged sword, lots of lovely people sharing their struggles and hopes but also it's sometimes good to forget about the whole thing completely, sometimes we can get a bit lost in our struggle and forget that our lives are more than ttc. I mean 1 year ago I took a pregnancy test in the hope it was a bfn! I was relieved when it was. I don't think I've changed that much but now ttc is all I think about!

Kay00 · 18/07/2021 13:11

@redclueless this could be your withdrawal bleed I suppose? but then it doesn't really matter what you call it, hopefully your body will ovulate in the next few weeks 😊 yey for cycle 1!

Kay00 · 18/07/2021 13:09

@skeletonskins :-( I feel that pain. Also, I'm sorry thr conceive plus haven't worked for you. If you are diagnosed with PCOS could you talk to your GP/or specialist about bring prescribed Metformin? They're meant to help you regulate your cycles if you have PCOS and regularly prescribed for this reason.

Redclueless · 18/07/2021 13:07

Hi again everyone, just catching up after not logging on for a few days. My period finally came back, took about 5 weeks from stopping the mini pill. I guess I skipped a withdrawal bleed all together?! Awful cramps but trying not moan as I’m so pleased I can finally start tracking properly now.

SkeletonSkins · 18/07/2021 11:57

Hello all, checking in as not been on this thread for a while. Needed to check out for a couple of weeks as I was finding it all so stressful. Thought I had finally ovulated but evidently not as my crosshairs have gone this morning. Trying to stay positive and relaxed abojt it but it’s hard when I feel like I’m in a constant cycle of failed ovulations. I do have PCOS so it’s to be expected and I’ve not been eating as well as I could have so I’m hoping that I can get back on track with that. It’s just so hard to stay positive when I don’t even seem to be able to ovulate :( I started the conceive plus hoping it would shorten my cycle but this is going to be my longest one ever…

@whirlingD hmm, very interesting results indeed. When do you next have a catch up with your consultant to discuss them?

@carolinesturn no, sorry, Im lucky not to get nausea.

@soph192 welcome!!

Carolinesturn · 18/07/2021 08:17

Has anyone else struggled with luteal phase nausea? I am getting waves of nausea around 4dpo and although this is only my second cycle off the pill I'm wondering how common/normal it is. I suppose I wouldn't be worried if it was just a few days before my period but not 10 days before!

Carolinesturn · 18/07/2021 08:14

@WhirlingD
I find it extraordinary that anyone gets pregnant when I look at the complex hormones that are involved
I can't keep up with how they work and what they do.
But the fact you've had a period is encouraging, also you've not had two high FSH test that are needed to diagnose POF.

soph192 · 18/07/2021 05:20

Can I be added please? Smile I came off the mini pill 3 days ago. Hoping to have a withdrawal and a cycle prior to ttc but I'm very new to this! Blush x

WhirlingD · 17/07/2021 22:34

@Carolinesturn forgot to tag you. See above!

WhirlingD · 17/07/2021 22:34

16 years, but I had a couple of 2 year breaks in my early to mid 30s and my periods returned to normal in that time. I had no reason at all to believe that this time would be any different. I'd absolutely love to believe that this was all pill related but unfortunately that doesn't explain away the fact I've had 1 period in about 6 months and my AMH was extremely low. Sad

Carolinesturn · 17/07/2021 12:13

@WhirlingD
Wow how odd that your fsh is so changeable, how long have you actually been off the pill for? Do you not think your hormones are still settling? Like it said in earlier posts the doctors say it can take months! Did you get blood tests after 6 months of trying? Were you aware of any potential hormone problems before you stopped the pill? Sometimes people just know. I've always known I've had hormone issues due to my acne and I've always worried about my fertility but I've had no GP tests and nothing confirmed

WhirlingD · 17/07/2021 10:10

@TheDaydreamBelievers thanks for the summery thread

@Carolinesturn my sister got pregnant on the pill at 33. And my ovaries are failing at 38. Mad!!

My latest blood results are extremely confusing. In one month FSH has gone from 77 to 6 and oestradiol has gone from 160 to 1800. I'm a medical marvel!! Will give the specialist something to analyse. Perhaps my ovaries are having one last hurrah. Here's hoping. Still no period though!

Enjoy the lovely weather this weekend everyone x

ChinChilly · 17/07/2021 09:23

Ladies on FF premium how do I add my RHR onto the chart?

ChinChilly · 17/07/2021 09:07

@TheDaydreamBelievers yeah I hate that too it seems so unfair as does the variation of how many IVF cycles you can have. I think its becoming a GP lottery, you either get a good GP or one that's not really interested, unfortunately they all seem to be the later at my surgery.

@Tillybabs one of the GPs i spoke to said cycles can take around 6 months to settle back into what they were like before the pill and I vaguely remember my first 2 days being horrible many years ago.

@CharWils I also find OPKs more accurate i find I get EWCM a few days before a positive OPK, I'd just DTD to be on the safe side

Tillybabs · 17/07/2021 08:23

@CharWils I find opks quite accurate for me. I don't go by ewcm and actually, I've not been getting much of late which is tad worrying. But I've had a gynae issue that is slowly rectifying itself.

But I would go by the opks.

I also started temping and that confirms ovulation for me at the time of my opk peak

CharWils · 17/07/2021 08:01

Love the new name!
Now humour me ladies, currently on cycle day 12 and have EWCM pretty sure this happened last cycle and then didn't get my peak reading until day 20. This is what my OPK currently looks like. What would you say is more accurate opks or EWCM as last cycle and looks like this cycle too they both tell me very different things?

Tillybabs · 16/07/2021 23:40

@ChinChilly I'm exactly the same so good to know it's not just me

It's funny that I've seen hanging washing out mentioned. We've had the garden done this year and was just today thinking I need to buy a line to put my washing out on days like today 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 16/07/2021 23:16

@MissC07 - nah, Im a healthcare clinician so had them both ages ago now.

@ChinChilly my main frustration is how much it varies by postcode. I could kind of accept "sorry, the nhs can only see you after a year, even if theres something clearly wrong" if it was the case everywhere. But theres people on other threads getting referred straight to fertility teams or prescribed clomid by GPs cause their bloods showed they arent ovulating. No shade to the woman herself, but so frustrating the inequity.

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 16/07/2021 22:54

@TheDaydreamBelievers definitely not a sexy time. That's frustrating about ur GP, why are alot of GP totally useless with women's cycle/fertility issues.

@MissC07 when we had a last mini heatwave i said to my OH all panicy 'I have to go wilko's for pegs' he looked at me like I'd lost it.

@Tillybabs my periods are normally heavy for the first 2 days and the first day the cramps are pretty intense. I'd say they were light for the first 5-6 months off the pill then got heavier

Tillybabs · 16/07/2021 21:21

Thanks for the invite!

Talking about periods. Has anyone else found since coming off the pill that their periods are heavy?

Initially they weren't too bad but now for the first 2 days mine is so heavy. I wear a tampon and pad

After the first 2 days he goes light.

Some months I'm ok but this month my cramps are horrible. Not sure if maybe the baseline scan I had today has brought on cramps.
