In the shimmering summer heat, we need to head for the water to cool down and relax. Bring your inflatable flamingo, your romcom read and your sunscreen, cause it's time for a pool party!

Welcome to the 12th post pill party thread. We are here for women who have recently come off the pill... and women like me who not-so-recently came off the pill! Share and get support with the highs and lows of TTC.

@MissM94 I don’t believe everyone that ovulates actually gets ovulation pain the only way you can tell you have ovulated is by taking your temperature during your whole cycle, prior to ovulation your temp should be lower and it rises after ovulation

MissM94 · 24/07/2021 23:11

I've just done a cheeky OPK as Ive had quite a bit of CM today and its positive.. I'm cycle day 19, but I've had no pain so I went back to march on FF and I got a positive on cycle day 20 but I only did that one because I got ovulation pain.. so my question is, does that mean I'm pretty regular to be ovulating around the same time per cycle? I didn't do many OPK's April - June as AF was 2 months late so just did a couple to see what was going on but they was negative. My second question is, just how true are OPK's? Should I be getting excited that they're positive or could they be positive but absolutely nothing is happening?

I've spent my evening doing pin art and a big jigsaw with my mum.. anyone else had a wild Saturday night? 😂😂

Moocher90 · 24/07/2021 17:15

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow my cycles are usually between 24-32 days so I doubt I will ovulate now.

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 24/07/2021 14:22

@Kay00 oh it's hard when someone announces their pregnancy, especially if it's someone close. I had another colleague announce they are pregnant on Friday. The thing is, it's usually followed with "what about you sunshine, you not having a 2nd yet".

@Moocher90 how long are your cycles usually? If you had a bleed I would probably call it cd25 I think. Hopefully ovulation is soon!

@ChinChilly that's my reaction too still, why is it not me.

ChinChilly · 23/07/2021 23:24

@Kay00 it's good that you can feel happy for them, I'm still in that selfish/jealous stage where I just don't 🤣 I get that feeling of when is it going to be my turn, I'm also feeling like am I ever going to have a healthy pregnancy with a baby at the end. I'm not sure how many times I can mentally deal with loses and I'm guessing if we continue to be unsuccessful there will come a point where enough will be enough. YIKES, Happy friday people 🤣🤣

Moocher90 · 23/07/2021 22:46

Nothing going on here…. No ovulation and I’m CD25. I also think my second covid vaccination threw my cycle out of whack as technically my last AF was a few days of spotting and a morning of a small bleed and that was it so not really sure if I’m CD25 or CD47…. Either way I just want my period to come so I can book in my hycosy.

Kay00 · 23/07/2021 21:25

😪 hugs to you both. It must be a lot harder if you have lost a pregnancy too xx my cousin will make an amazing mum, and her new fella is a hunk and seems really sweet. She seems so happy so I really am pleased for them. But just really would like it to be my turn soon...

ChinChilly · 23/07/2021 21:19

@Kay00 I totally get you, I just had a third pregnancy announcement from either a friend or family since my MC, none of whom were trying all happy accidents. As @TheDaydreamBelievers I also feel sad and angry then guilty for feeling like that, this shit is really hard!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/07/2021 21:05

@Kay00 I'm really bloody sorry. You are allowed to feel sad and angry. I feel sad and angry when others get pregnant. This is hard.

Fuck. My cousin just announced she's pregnant. Obviously I'm super happy for her. I just feel like my body is old and rubbish 😔

It would be really nice if I could get pregnant within the next year so our children could play together... but it just feels like it will never happen.

Sorry ladies... Im usually much more positive than this.

Kay00 · 23/07/2021 15:01

@MissC07 I have been offered Mtformin which i start on Monday, this is meant to help get my cycles back on track (they have been a lot better recently since I started the Conceive + though) and to protect against insulin resistance, heart disease and miscarriage (should I ever get pregnant). In my follow up appointment with the Fertility consultant (2nd August) I am expecting her to offer me Clomid to kick start ovulation, I really hope she does as it is very possible I haven't been ovulating for the past 13+ months!

MissC07 · 23/07/2021 13:42

@Kay00 I don't think she did (my head was all over the place so can't really remember 😬) At the end of my scan she did go 'don't worry, Jamie Oliver's wife has PCOS too and she's had 5 kids....'
I'll definitely ask at my GP appointment!! Have you been given anything for PCOS or is it just a try and see how you get on thing?

Kay00 · 23/07/2021 13:32

@MissC07 did she tell you how many follicles? Mine had 10 on one and 13 on the other which was enough for her to diagnose me with PCOS.

MissC07 · 23/07/2021 10:29

@TheDaydreamBelievers it's so frustrating isn't it! I'll definitely bring it up with them at my follow up appointment.

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow I had the Pfizer vaccine. Tbh it might not even be the cause but I like having something to blame 😂

Have just got back home from my internal scan. The dr was so lovely! It was all a bit of a blur but from what I remember she told me I have a retroverted uterus, the lining looks healthy and normal though. She said my left ovary looks fine but my right has got lots of follicles on it. She'll send her 'findings' to my GP and I need to book a follow up in 10 days.

mrsmacmc · 23/07/2021 09:53

rocks up with a flamingo 🦩 float

Nothing to report from my side ladies hope you're managing to stay cool in the ☀️ ❤️ x

Carolinesturn · 23/07/2021 09:19

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow thank you I'm hopeful but quietly so as I felt hopeful last month too
So new developments, so I've been cramps since 6dpo and at 7dpo in the evening I got a couple of tiny spots of pinky brown discharge I thought oh god spotting at 7dpo is wayyyy to early to make a viable baby and last month it started at 10dpo so felt as though I was going backwards, yesterday was the same until we dtd and it got a little heavier after, so I thought right I'm out. However this morning I've barely had anything, nothing when I wipe (I got a bit when I scrunched up toilet paper and pushed it up but so so light, almost tinged CM. So it's 9dpo today... I feel a bit different but no achy boobs. Do I dare hope? Not doing a test till Wednesday as I swore I wouldn't right from the start

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 22/07/2021 20:46

I'm cd12 today, ovulation predicted for cd15. Think it's probably going to be soon because my cervix is getting higher and I'm starting to get more noticeable amounts of cervical mucus.
So far we've DTD on cd3, cd5, cd7, cd8 and cd11. Aiming for a couple more times in the next few days too so we get good coverage.

@MissC07 that's so random about your cycles, hopefully the next vaccine triggers AF! Which vaccine did you get? I had pfizer and didn't notice anything odd with my period but it was before I came off the pill.

@Carolinesturn fingers crossed its implantation cramping!!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 22/07/2021 17:00

@MissC07 I feel for you. These are exactly the type of charts I get! Like you, my GP did bloods twice at just a random cycle day. No planning what cycle days etc! For this reason Im pretty sure I will have to wait until private to get a PCOS diagnosis @Juno231

Carolinesturn · 22/07/2021 16:06

Thanks @Kay00 i ordered some progesterone cream but I'll leave it in the box and stick to the b vits! Great advice thank you

Kay00 · 22/07/2021 15:38

@carolinesturn I would certainly advise to proceed with caution, and I wouldn't use progesterone cream unless you know that your body struggles with progesterone. You are still so fresh off your pill that it would be worth waiting and getting some tests done first.

To lengthen my LP (it genuinely works for me) I take a B-Complex vitamin with high B12 and B6. I went from an 8 day LP, to average 13 day LP. I don't think there is any harm in taking a B-Complex vitamin as many people are deficient in this anyway. Although be warned it does make your wee luminous yellow Grin

Carolinesturn · 22/07/2021 09:30

Thanks @Juno231
You ladies definitely help me navigate this difficult journey! I think I will start vitamins next cycle so any recommendations would be great! I need to lengthen my cycle and stop this pesky spotting, I've ordered some progesterone cream. Now tell me can supplements ever do more harm than good? Should I proceed with caution?

MissC07 · 22/07/2021 08:46

@Juno231 I have no idea 🤷‍♀️ I wasn't really expecting any sort of testing as I only called them to ask what to do as it's been so long since my last AF. I'm convinced it's the vaccine that knocked it out, but who knows! I've got my second one on Saturday so hopefully it'll knock things back the right way 😂 Will be interesting to see if my scan picks anything up tomorrow.

Juno231 · 22/07/2021 08:35

@Carolinesturn no your LP finishes wren CD1 shows up - which is when you have full flow and not just spotting.

@MissC07 I wonder what on earth they'd even test for mid cycle like that... They should be doing a day 2-3 test surely to check for baseline hormone levels and see if you have PCOS?

@Kat668 11 would be absolutely fine so I wouldn't worry! With a 25-26 day cycle you'd get to try more often so I'd prefer it personally!

Carolinesturn · 21/07/2021 21:05

Does the spotting before your period count as the end of you LP? Ie can implantation occur when you're spotting or is that impossible?

Carolinesturn · 21/07/2021 20:58

@Kat668 I'd like to think implantation but I'm an absolute pessimist, no spotting yet thank god.
Yes you're still early days and my gp says 6 months to a year!! Omg I expected it to be much quicker!
